A new mate.

*Cassandra POV*     A week has passed, Marcus must be alpha by now. I truly can never go back. Not that I'd really want too, it was just a craving for familiarity.     The cave I'd found was nice enough, and by a stream so I could have fresh fish whenever I wanted- though I was getting rather bored of fish. "Fish is all we have unless you want to go into a town. And you know how dangerous that would be Cass." Calypso spoke to me, she was keeping me sane.     "Don't you think I could find something else to eat? Maybe some wild vegetables?" I spoke aloud, loving having free use of my voice. "We were never trained in finding wild vegetables." Calypso was very straightforward but I still loved her.      I just laughed and hugged my knees, looking up into the stars. They were breath taking tonight. Maybe the Moon Goddess had given up on me, making me suffer through almost 19 years of hell. But I was free, and I hadn't given up on Her. I still prayed, I gave her offerings of half my meals. But that was alright. Me and Calypso could get by.     Hearing the snap of twigs forces me out of my own head and my eyes widen. Oh no, no no no. I doused my small fire as fast as I could and quickly retreated into my cave, climbing up into the little ledge I'd made my bed. No one would know the ledge was here unless there was enough light.     I heard the cracking of bones and the grunts of men. Werewolves. Are they rogues? I huddled further into the shadows, straining my ears to listen for a conversation. Rogues couldn't properly mind link, even if they were working together.  "Cass, do you smell that?" Calypso purred and I gulped.     I could smell it. It smelt like damp moss, leather, and safety. The scent lulled me into a slightly relaxed state, before I was startled by a voice.     "Cassandra?" The voice sounded relieved, yet slightly worried. "Are you in there? Cassandra, we mean you no harm. We'll stay out here, and wait until you're ready to come meet us."      What? They weren't going to attack?? I wasn't going to get murdered? And how did they know my name? The voice didn't sound familiar, but it sent tingles down my spine. No way I was going out there until it was daylight and I could stake them out.     Hours passed, and a fire had been started and I heard a couple voices murmuring to each other, and I could feel the silent conversations happening as well. It was a while before I started to doze off, no longer able to keep watch.  ---     In the morning, when I woke up to them talking again I wanted to scream for them to leave. Slowly, as to not make a sound I peered out from my vantage point. I could see five people, four men, and one woman. Warriors, I could see their muscles through their thin shirts. At least they had decency to put something one after their change.     I could see the back of the alpha in their midst. Rippling muscles in his back as he moved and spoke to the others. That was the voice who had said my name.  Suddenly, the woman locked eyes with me and nodded. I gasped and hid myself again, f**k. They know for sure I'm here now.     "Cassandra, please come out. We'd all love to meet you, we won't hurt you. I swear on the moon goddess."     A swear on the moon goddess could not be broken. So slowly, I took a breath and slid down from my ledge, still hidden mostly in shadow and stared out at them. Hesitantly, I took a few steps.      Then I felt it, a hard pull and a string of fate snap into place. I gasped, staring up at the man in front of me, though he was still feet away from me. "MATE. The Moon Goddess has blessed us with a new mate Cass!!" Calypso practically screamed in my head.     The man- alpha- had long black hair, tied into a loose bun at the nape of his neck. His eyes were like melted honey, and he smiled when he saw me come closer. He had a cute, little crooked incisor. Otherwise his smile was perfect.      I inhaled, my eyes wide as I stare at this perfect specimen of a man. Oh God he was the one who smelt so good.      Unconsciously, my feet began to walk toward him, until I was outside of the cave and he engulfed me in his arms. And for once in my life, I actually felt safe, and wanted. I couldn't help but begin to cry.     "I've found you.. you're safe now, no one will hurt you ever again…" he whispered in my ear and cupped the back of my head, his other arm picking me up to hold against his chest. And what he said next made me sob harder and cling to this strange man with my whole body.     "My mate. My beautiful mate."
