Chapter 1: The Man I Hate
Chapter 1: The Man I Hate
Rita Moni hated one person in this world more than anyone else. His name was Jahirul Islam Sujan.
Sujan was not just any man. He was her sister's husband. He was 28 years old, tall, handsome, and the CEO of a big company. Every girl in the city dreamed of him. But for Rita, he was a nightmare.
"Rita, why are you late again?" Sujan's cold voice echoed in the living room.
Rita was 21 years old, a university student. She had just come home, and there he was, sitting on the sofa with his laptop, looking like a king.
"It's none of your business," Rita snapped. "You are not my husband."
Sujan closed his laptop slowly. His dark eyes looked at her. "But I am the man of this house when your sister is not here. And you will follow the rules."
Rita hated how arrogant he was. He always talked like he owned everyone.
Three days later, everything changed.
Rita's elder sister, Rina, had to go to their village home because their mother was sick. She would be away for one whole month.
"Rita, please," Rina said before leaving. "Sujan will be alone. You stay here and take care of the house. You two, please don't fight."
"I won't fight if he doesn't talk to me," Rita mumbled.
After Rina left, the big house felt so quiet. So big and so quiet. Only Rita and Sujan were there.
The first night was terrible. Rita was hungry, but she didn't know how to cook. She was looking in the fridge when Sujan came into the kitchen.
He was wearing a black t-shirt. His hair was wet. He had just taken a shower.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"Nothing. I am not hungry," Rita lied, her stomach growling.
Sujan didn't say anything. He opened the fridge, took out eggs, bread, and vegetables. Within ten minutes, he made two plates of fried rice.
He placed one plate in front of Rita. "Eat."
Rita was shocked. "You... you cooked?"
"I live alone before marriage. I know how to cook. Unlike some people," he said with a small smirk.
Rita wanted to be angry, but the food smelled so good. She sat down and started eating. It was delicious. The best fried rice she had ever eaten.
"Thanks," she whispered.
Sujan just nodded and went back to his room.
That night, Rita couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about Sujan. Why did he cook for her? Why was he being nice?
The next morning, Rita woke up late. She had a university exam. She ran downstairs and saw Sujan in a suit, ready for office. On the dining table, there was breakfast - toast, eggs, and a glass of milk. And a small note: "Eat before you go. - S"
Rita's heart beat fast. This was not the rude Sujan she knew. This was someone else.
Days passed. Slowly, Rita and Sujan started talking. Not fighting, but talking.
One night, it was raining heavily. There was a loud thunder. Rita was scared of thunder since childhood. She was alone in her room, covering herself with a blanket.
Suddenly, someone knocked on her door. "Rita? Are you okay?"
It was Sujan.
"No... I am scared," Rita said in a small voice.
Sujan came inside. He sat on the edge of her bed. "It's just thunder. It will pass."
"Can you stay here for some time?" Rita asked without thinking.
Sujan looked at her. His eyes were soft now, not cold. "Okay."
He sat there until the rain stopped. Rita slowly fell asleep. When she woke up in the morning, Sujan was gone, but there was a blanket properly covering her.
Something was changing in Rita's heart. She started waiting for Sujan to come home from office. She started dressing nicely. She started smiling when he talked.
And Sujan? He was also changing. He would come home early. He would buy her favorite chocolates. He would ask about her university.
One evening, Rita was in the living room watching TV. Sujan came and sat beside her. Very close.
"Rita," he said softly.
"Yes?"
"Why do you hate me so much?"
Rita looked at him. His face was so close. She could smell his perfume.
"I... I don't hate you now," she admitted.
"Then what do you feel now?" Sujan asked, his voice deep.
Rita's cheeks turned red. She couldn't answer. She stood up to go, but Sujan held her hand.
"Rita, look at me."
Rita turned. Sujan was standing right in front of her.
In that moment, Rita knew she was in trouble. She was falling for her own sister's husband. The man she hated the most had become the man she wanted the most.
But this love was forbidden. What would happen when her sister comes back? What would society say?
Rita pulled her hand away and ran to her room, her heart beating like a drum.
Downstairs, Sujan stood alone, his hands in a fist. Because he was feeling the same thing. He had fallen for his wife's little sister. And he didn't know what to do.
To be continued...
