Chapter 4: Kiss

Avalynn’s POV

I chuckled with awkwardness when the man asked me who Adam was. I acted stupid before him and even performed like I couldn’t understand what he asked me. When the elevator opened, I quickly pushed Adam inside. Adam was about to react, but the elevator door closed instantly.

When I saw that Adam had finally gone while he was in the elevator, I slowly turned around to see the man who was patiently glimpsing at me.

I cleared my throat before I spoke, “What can I do for you?”

I wanted to be swallowed by the ground when I noticed my uneasy tone. I tried to act like I was not affected by the man’s presence who was standing in front of me. He only stared at me and dared not dare to speak to me. I didn’t want to think he might be mute because he asked me before I ensured Adam would be inside the elevator. Instead of answering me, the man moved closer to me and removed the sunglasses from my eyes.

The man examined my face as if checking if I was the woman he had searched for. I bit my lips when it had been so long that he scanned my face. I looked away and was about to leave when he grabbed my shoulder.

The man looked at me again, using his strange looked. I didn’t know what he might think of me, so I tried to remove his hand from my shoulder.

“I already proposed to you. And you said you wanted me to marry, but why are you acting like you didn’t know me?” The man said, using his lower tone, making me unable to hear what he was trying to tell me. What does he mean?

“What are you talking about?” I was confused because I didn’t hear what he was trying to tell me. The man’s forehead creased. He looked irritated but didn’t answer my question; instead, he inquired another question.

“Why are you running with a child?”

“Who is the boy with you?” he softly added, which made me close my eyes to think about what I would say to him. I don’t want him to know about Adam because I’m sure he might do everything to take him away from me once he finds out about my son.

“Oh! He’s the son of my relatives.” I quickly answered because I thought he might notice that Adam looked like him. “I’m sorry, I needed to leave because I’m afraid to talk with strangers.”

I didn’t know what I should say to the man before me. I don’t want him to see that I’m lying or trying to hide something from him. Adam looked like him, and I didn’t want him to see the similarities between him and my son. So I needed to find an excuse so he won't be suspicious of me.

My heart was thumping too fast, and I was nervous because he didn’t repeat anything. He frowned at me, and his eyes turned cold.

“Why are you acting that you are afraid of me? Are you that the Muller family is too picky? My family isn’t too strict and didn’t even ask you for a precondition. Even if we get married, you can still meet your family and friends and hang out with them, okay?”

My mouth hung open even more when he muttered those words. What was he talking about?

“I want to be honest with you. Even though I’m from a wealthy family, we are not strict, especially with our rules. Maybe, I have difficult senses about you, but once we marry each other, I’m willing to spoil you since you are my wife, and we are married.” The man added, looking grave when he said those on me. What does he mean? I was lost even more that I couldn’t understand what he was saying.

Was he fine? I think this man has lost his sanity!

I couldn’t stop myself from looking at him strangely. Was he asking me about the night that had happened between us? Was he asking me if he was responsible that he is sleeping with me?

I was about to say something but stopped when I remembered that this man looked like Adam. And in case they weren’t a father-and-son relationship, there was a big chance that this man was Adam's relative, so I needed to distance myself.

“I—I think you don't need to do that. I mean, you don't have any responsibilities for me. What happened last night was an..” Before I could finish what I was telling him, he gave me a death glare and held my hand.

I felt my heart clench in alarm because the man started dragging me. I didn't know where we would go, but I didn't like to be close to him.

“Sir, what are you doing? I didn't do anything wrong! Let go of me.” I tried to pull my hand from his grasp, but he tightened his grip. He had a lot of strength in me, and the more I tried to restrain the more I wasted my energy to stop him.

This man acted as if he knew me at all. His strength was indestructible. The man looked like he wasn't affected by my yelled and dragged me to the end of the corridor.

“What are you doing?” I was surprised when he pushed me onto the wall. He put his hands on the upper part of my head, lowered his head, and looked at me.

The man looked like he wasn't bothered. But he imprisoned me by his hands. Because of what he had done, my mind was getting crazy, for I remembered how he violated me last night. My eyes get watery, for I remember how painful it was. My eyes reddened as my tears wanted to come out, but I stopped them.

“Are you crazy? Asshole!” My teeth clenched in anger, making the man’s eyes darken; It looked like he was mad. I called him an asshole, or maybe he was infuriated because I thought he was insane.

“Are you playing hard to get?” The man spoke in anger. He touched my shoulders, which made me try to push him away from me. What was he doing?

“You’re eyes are red, and I didn’t do anything to you now,” he added. I gritted my teeth again and slammed my hands onto his chest. The man held my hands to stop me from hitting him and raised my hands onto my head. I gasped when he moved close to me as my heart began to pump so fast.

He lowered his head and claimed my lips. My eyes widened as the man moved his lips to claim my mouth fully. I tried to push him away from me, but his kisses made my knees turn to jelly. I lost control and responded to his kisses. We both devoured our mouths for a moment, and he grabbed my head to deepen the kiss that we were sharing.

The kiss was so hot that I felt that something had risen; it looked like a hidden thing inside wanted to explode. I felt suffocated when the man’s hands roamed over my body, making me lose my thoughts momentarily.

We shared our saliva, and it’s not gross. I felt I had returned to reality and my senses when I opened my eyes.

My body froze. What am I doing? Why am I answering his kisses as if I know him? Did this man think that I was too easy to play with? Because I’m a virgin at that time? I felt that I was some toy that he liked to play with.

Everything that had happened last night was an accident! I’m sure of that.

“Y…You!” My voice trembled, but the man didn’t stop munching my lips. I was so mad that I bit the man’s lips and ensured it would bleed. The man almost screamed in pain and peeked at me with disbelief. He let go of me while he was wiping his mouth.

“You…” I stopped to breathe. I wanted to slap this man for stealing a kiss from me. “How dare you kiss–”

I couldn’t finish my words when a man, the man’s bodyguard, spoke. I didn’t notice that the man wasn’t too far from us. My cheeks flushed.

“Sir Steven, I’m sorry for disturbing you, but something is urgent.” The bodyguard said and walked closer to the man who kissed me.

“What is it? What’s the problem?” The man, who had the name, Steven, asked his bodyguard.

“Sir Steven, Klaud just left now. He said that it’s urgent, and he isn’t available today.” I couldn’t hear what the bodyguard had been saying to him. Steven’s face turned sour, and seeing how his face changed made me think that something serious had happened.

The man, who has named Steven, nodded at his bodyguard before he looked at me.

“You asked me to marry you. What does it mean that you’re trying to get back your words? Could you wait for me at your house? I will go to your house to see you tonight or maybe tomorrow.” Before I reacted, Steven left me and followed his bodyguards. I was puzzled because by what he spoke to me.

Did he mention the wedding? What does he mean? I couldn’t understand what he was trying to tell me.

I wanted to ask him, but it was unnecessary because I needed to see Klaus for my daughter, Annabelle. I needed to forget it because I needed to find  Klaus now.
