Chapter 5: Unexpected Visitor

1754 Words
Avalynn’s POV I watched how the man wan walked away from me. His back was broad, and seeing his bodyguards made me almost tremble because I knew he was powerful. His aura made me chill, and he was screaming with so much respect. I remembered Adam waiting for me when I didn't see Steven anymore. I was going to the elevator when my phone rang. It was Adam, so I answered it. “Mom, I’m on the first floor. Come here. I find out that Klaus just drove away from the parking lot. I'm sorry, Mom. Don't worry, and I will find a  way so we can have a chance to see him again.” I could notice the sadness in Adam's voice. I knew that he was worried about Annabelle, too. He might be blaming himself that he didn't even see that Dr. Klaus left the hotel. I swallowed my saliva and tasted the bitterness coming from my mouth. How could I always miss Dr. Klaus repeatedly? If I didn't see Steven inside this hotel, I could see Dr. Klaus. Annabelle's heart wasn't okay, and the more days she didn't have her heart surgery, the more her heart would worsen. I don't want to surrender about what I'm facing because Annabelle needs us. I needed a solution so Dr. Klaus wouldn't be away once we found his location again. I don't need to be pessimistic. I know Annabelle could have her heart surgery and heal from her sickness. When I met Adam on the first floor, I saw Adam doing something on his tablet. He looked at me, and I saw Steven's face on his face. “Mom, Is it weird that the man who talked to you and I look like each other? We both have the same face. I want to know his name. Is he our father?” Adam said. I was startled when Adam mentioned Steven as if he was sure that he looked like Steven.  Adam was brilliant even though he was a child. I'm sure he noticed why I asked him to wear his sunglasses and reminded him not to let Steven see his face. Adam would find out about Steven, which made me anxious that my children would be away from me. But since I never lied to or even fooled them, I would tell them the truth. “Adam…” I stopped when Adam gazed at me. He was so focused on waiting for what I was going to say. “I told you, and Annabelle, I don't know who the man who got me pregnant is. And I didn't know him personally, but I won't stop you from checking his identity if you want to know your father.” I wanted Adam to stop asking me, especially if it was about his father, because I didn't even know who his father was. “Fine… But I noticed that you know the man that we met tonight. Did you see this man before? Mom, I'm talking about the man with the same face as me.” Adam curiously uttered. I hardly took a deep breath because it looked like Adam was trying to interrogate me. “Yes. When I didn't go home, do you remember that? He's the one who saved me from my father's men.” My reply made Adam nod as if he was contended with what I answered his question. I don't like Adam to know about what happened to me that night because he couldn't even understand it, even if he was mature whenever he talked with me. “I think he's my father, Mom. I'm sure he's my father because we both have the same face. I will do everything to know about his identity. I think you know him because he acted as if he knew you.” Adam muttered. Adam looked confident that Steven was his father, and my mouth hung open when I noticed how secure he was. “Did you remember when you told me to check the surveillance camera? I checked everything, but it looked like someone deleted some of the videos, and I can't find those missing videos.” “If I find those deleted surveillance videos, or maybe if the hotel had a backup file, I could easily know who that man is,” Adam added, happily smiling at me. Adam was too dedicated, and he seemed to be attached to Steven. My throat suddenly became dry, and my taste buds tasted sour. I thought my children didn't want to know about their father, but I was wrong. All this time, Adam and Annabelle wished to look forward to being there, but they didn't tell me, so that I will be stressing about it. “Adam, if you discover his identity, don’t forget to inform me. For now, I think we need to go home first. Only a nanny cares for your sister, so we must go home soon. Annabella might be waiting for us!” I sincerely said to him, which made Adam's expression soften. Adam and I left the hospital since Klaus wasn’t in the hotel. I hoped that Adam would investigate the man I accidentally slept with. Narrator’s POV Steven made sure that he would get to see Klaus. He was looking at Klaus's car, and the driver did everything to follow Klaus's car. Steven tried to locate Klaus several times, but Steven always failed. Now, he didn’t want to lose again. “Make him stop,” Steven ordered his driver, which made the driver overtake Klaus's car, and stop that Klaus almost hit their vehicle. If Klaus always avoided him and did everything to have an excuse not to meet him. Steven would force Klaus to talk with him. Steven's men came out in his car, ensuring Klaus would talk to him. After several minutes, Klaus got out of his car and looked at Steven's car. Steven got out of his car and looked at Klaus. His eyes sparkled in pleasure that Klaus wouldn't have a reason to avoid him. “Steven, did you know I don't like when someone forces me.” Klaus's tone was icier, but Steven didn't even mind if Klaus was mad at him. All that important to Steven was his mother. “I will make you see my mother's data about her sickness. I promise I will give you 100 million dollars if you do your best to perform heart surgery for my mother.” Steven acted like he didn't hear what Klaus had been telling him. Klaus's eyes turned even colder, and his forehead creased when he spoke, “Steven, did you think I'm poor? Who will grab your offer ultimately? I'm not even short of money if you didn't know about it.” “Dr. Klaus, your senior teacher, Mr. Sebastian, is visiting the Muller family house today. If you didn't want to have an operation for my mother, I swear that she would die miserably. I would make sure that you will regret declining my offer.” Steven used his last card. All he wanted was Klaus's answer that he would do the heart surgery for his mother. Klaus's fist clenched in so much madness. He doesn't want to have the operation but what about Dr. Sebastian? He did everything to be the well-known cardiologist, and now Steven had dared to blackmail him using Dr. Sebastian. “Steven, you didn't change. You are so good and amazing like those people told you. Fine, I promise that I will do the heart operation.” Klaus finally gave up and sneered with so much irritation. Steven slowly smiled at Klaus because he was so pleased to know what Klaus had decided quickly. “Klaus, you did the right thing..” Steven had a prideful smile and continued. “From the beginning, I wanted to pay you for my mother's heart surgery, and you even informed me that you didn't want to have money because you aren't poor. It's you who push me to invite Dr. Sebastian to my house. But you can rest assured that I will still pay you 100 million dollars for the surgery fee.” Klaus didn't say anything but was aggressive when he left Steven. Klaus was mad that Steven made blackmailed him. While Steven got inside his car, and looked cool because he was delighted to know that Klaus would heal his mother from her sickness. “Steven, where are we going now?” The driver asked, which made Steven couldn't answer correctly. Steven was about to say he was going home but remembered how Veronica acted and even told him he didn't want to marry him. Steven never went to the Thompson's house, and Steven thought he needed to go to the Thompson's house to talk with Veronica. “Let's go to the Thompson's house,” Steven answered, which made the driver obey him, and began driving to Thompson's house. At Thompson's house, Adler just got a call about Avalynn, so he spoke to Sarah and Veronica. “Chris found out about Avalynn's where about. As long as he gets the opportunity, Chris will get Avalynn. Let's wait for the good news about her.” Adler told. After hearing the news, Veronica couldn't stop being glad because Avalynn would finally be out of her path. It was only Avalynn who knew everything about the night accident between Steven. Veronica would do anything to marry Steven too fast before Avalynn heard about the news of her wedding. Veronica thought that if Avalynn noticed something wrong, there was a big chance that what she had done would be exposed to Steven. Veronica doesn't want Steven to know that she stole Avalynn's spotlight and doesn't wish for Avalynn to replace her as Steven's bride. So Veronica was thinking of removing Avalynn as long as she could. “Dad, they needed to do everything cleanly. I don't want them to know about Avalynn.” Veronica advised Adler, which made Adler agree with his daughter. Veronica was about to repeat something when their servant approached them. “Sir, you have a guest tonight. It's Steven Muller, and Steven is inside the car parked outside the house.” The servant informed them, which made Veronica happy, almost yelling. “Are you sure that it is Steven Muller who is outside in my house? I didn't know that he would go here tonight.” Adler looked at Veronica and gave Veronica a proud nod.
