Chapter 6: Wedding News

Narrator's POV

Veronica almost jumped in so much excitement. The smile on her lips was plastered while looking at Adler and Sarah. Veronica felt that she was finally successfully making Steven marry her, and now, Steven was inside their house.

Veronica couldn't stop thinking that Steven wanted to see her and asked her to marry him personally.

Their servant nodded his head to inform Alder that it was Steven Muller. Adler spoke, “Veronica, I think you should stay here with your mother. I will usher Steven here to our house. Why don't you prepare yourself so Steven will be pleased to see you tonight? I will inform you once we get inside the house.”

Adler felt worried because Steven didn't dare go inside their house. He thought something was wrong, and he was afraid that Steven might change his mind. He didn't like Veronica to hear that Steven didn't want to marry her anymore.

Veronica was about to complain when Sarah held her hand. Sarah was nodding at her, which made Veronica think that Sarah knew what she must do. Veronica nodded and couldn't stop herself from being excited.

“Mom, Steven is here to ask for my hands. I'm sure of that!” Veronica exclaimed, which made Sarah laugh happily for her daughter.

Sarah hugged Veronica before she said, “Yeah, it looks like he can't stop himself from seeing you again. Veronica did everything to be Mrs. Muller.”

“Wait, Dad, let's our servant ask Joseph to come here. I don't want him to think I'm excited to be with him. He might think I'm like those women who wanted to marry him.” Veronica advised, which made Adler agree. Veronica needed to act like a remarkable woman in Steven's eyes so Steven would stay with her and marry her.

Adler lets the servant ask Steven to go inside the house, but they panic when Steven refuses. Veronica felt nervous that Steven wanted to cancel their upcoming wedding. Veronica saw how worried Adler and Sara were for her, and they didn't know if they would be out in their house.

When Steven reached Thompson's villa too fast, he was about to enter the house when his phone rang. Seeing who the caller made answered the phone call.

“Timothy, what is it? Is there something wrong that happened?” Steven couldn't stop but felt worried about his mother. It was Timothy who always made sure that his mother would be safe.

“Sir Steven, we found your mom unconscious while on the floor, and the doctor needed to do an emergency surgery for your mother.” Timothy was in a panic, which made Steven nod. His expression changed when he learned about what had happened to his mother.

“Okay, I will be there immediately,” Steven uttered calmly.

When Steven ended the call, all he thought was his mother needed someone to be with, so he needed to go on her.  Steven was about to turn around so he could leave when Adler rushed to him.

“Sir Steven… Are you leaving now? I'm sorry that Veronica didn't come out. She's asleep.” Adler was cautious with his words; he was afraid that Steven would be offended by him. Aside from that, Adler couldn't believe Steven would leave without even talking with him.

After Steven heard Adler's voice, he turned around and looked at Adler. Steven had been looking at Adler using his cold expression. Adler stopped and felt intimidated because of Steven.

“I got the call that my mother passed out, and I needed to go to the hospital because they needed me there. Adler tell Veronica that if she really didn't want to continue our marriage, she could tell me in person. But, now I think I need to leave because they are all waiting for me.” After Steven spoke those words, he left their house and went to his car.

Adler was left behind. It looked like Steven left him too fast, and he was wondering how Steven could do it.

Adler went back to their house, and he was thinking about what Steven had told him. Adler came forward to where Veronica and Sarah had been sitting. Adler didn't waste time but told Veronica what Steven had told him.

Veronica frowned when she heard Adler about what Steven had been saying. Does Steven not want to marry her now? Did Steven find out the truth?

Veronica's face is pale. What Steven had said was a little strange to them.

“What do you think Steven means? Didn't he want our family to be tied with them? Does it mean that he wanted to cancel the upcoming marriage?” Sarah asked; she was worried about her daughter. Sarah was finally glad that Veronica would be married to a respectable man, and now it looked like Steven might cancel it.

“I think he must be kidding. He didn't mean what he said.” Sarah added. She tapped Veronica's back to comfort her

Adler smiled before he uttered, “No, he doesn't mean he wanted to cancel the wedding. He already gave Veronica the decision if she wanted to marry him or not. As long as Veronica would not say she didn't like to marry him, Steven still agreed to marry our daughter.”

When Veronica heard what her father had been saying to them, her heart couldn't rest because she was anxious that the wedding wouldn't continue. Her face turned pale, and Adler saw what her expression looked like.

“Don't worry; it looked like Steven wanted our daughter to see that she was determined to marry him. We will announce to the media tomorrow that Veronica and Steven are getting married. This will be a big topic in our country, so if Steven changes his mind and wants to cancel the wedding. I'm sure that he will be embarrassed to do it!” Adler added, which made Veronica hesitate to speak.

“Dad, I think this will make Steven offended. I don't want to do this….” Veronica couldn't finish her words when Adler cut her off.

“I don't think he will be offended if we did this. Veronica already told us that if you want to continue or not depends on what you want. Why don't you help me to find someone who is working with the media so that we can announce it? If we do this, Steven might rush the wedding!” Alder didn't want to hear what Veronica was about to say.

Avalynn's POV

“Mom, I already found out who that man is!” Adam told me while trying to wake me up early in the morning. “I checked the surveillance, Mom.”

Adam took his tablet and tapped something, which made him frown. Adam looked like he had read something terrible on his phone.

“We are here to announce the upcoming wedding of Steven Muller with Veronica Thompson. The wedding will be announced, and it's approaching. Veronica Thompson told us how the great Steven Muller proposed to her ....”

Adam was stunned when he saw Steven's name, and I was surprised who Steven would marry. It was Veronica, my stepsister.

“We are all excited about the other details of the upcoming wedding..”

Although, Adam didn't know if Steven was his biological father. Adam looked disappointed because he thought that Steven was his father. After all, they both had the same face. Adam always thought that was the father that he had been looking for.

I looked away when I saw Adamn slumped onto the floor, and Annabelle moved closer to him.

“Is it true that our father will marry another woman? What about Mommy? What do we need to do to stop the wedding?” Hearing how anxious Annabelle was made me think that Adam told Annabelle about Steven. They all looked depressed, and seeing them like this made me blame myself because they were all desperate to find their father.

“Mom, that man's name is Steven Muller. If he is my father, how can he marry Veronica without thinking about us?” Adam inquired about me.

“Dad will not marry her. We will do anything, right? Adam, I thought you were smart!”

“Yes, I am. Are you telling me that my question is stupid?”

“No, I'm not. Do everything to make him not marry that woman.”

I went to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast, and hearing how desperate they were amazed me because they both acted like adults.

But after seeing the news about Steven and Veronica's weddings. My face turned sour, and I almost crushed an egg in frustration.

It turned out that Steven, the man that I accidentally slept with, was the mighty man in the Muller family. I remembered that he was a famous bachelor in Los Angeles.

But what happened between us was an accident. I knew Steven wasn't in his right might then, so I knew he didn't mean to do with me.

I thought I was too unlucky because Steven was connected with Veronica. I hated her so much. She was responsible for what happened between Steven and me.

Shit!  I couldn't believe that rich people were such scum!
