New Living

She stopped a moment, and said," do not look to your left, just keep moving." I instinctively looked to the left." The sight horrified me. There was a middle age, dark haired lady with black eyes, dead. The position she was in looked like a wolf tore her throat to shreds while she was trying to run. Her left hand reached to me as if she was begging for help. I shuddered and looked away. Once we got to a clearing, she halted. There was a lake on the other side of her. She spoke softly," find your fur color, and go to your specific tribe, I wish you luck." I stared at my reflection and frowned. Other than my red eyes, I looked like no other fox. My fur was full of reds, browns, and white. I turned and sat patiently waiting for someone to tell me where I should go. Five minutes later, the red foxes told me to come with them. I followed them until the sun rose. We stopped for a quick water break before moving again. I was so tired and hungry. My stomach growled constantly as we made out trek into the grasslands and then back into forest. Someone glared at me as my stomach growled again. "It is not my fault I didn't eat since this morning," I yipped at her. She flipped me off and raced on ahead. How creative I murmured to myself while trying to copy her with my own paw. It was very hard to do, so I gave up on it. Finally, the red fox in the lead stopped and announced that we were here. "Eat where you smell food, and find an empty hut to stay in, but make sure you rub your scent on the flap of the door. The rest is self explanatory. In the morning be ready to eat and work out. Any questions?" No one said anything. "Now go!" we ran to the scent of food. The scent took us to an open brick kitchen with a tarp over the top. Wooden tables were stacked high with limp bacon, red sausage, and eggs. I piled a bit of everything on my plate to the best of my ability, balancing the plate perfectly in my teeth. I sat at an empty table to begin eating. "Hi, I'm Claude." I heard as someone sat down next to me. His light reddish-brown fur was ruffled in many places, and he had a twig stuck in his fur. "I'm Clara." He began stuffing himself with a plate full of bacon. I stared at my plate, and then was totally grossed out. The meats were raw. I am not going to be eating this meat. " I asked him how he can even eat raw meat, and he said it was good. He took my plate, and continued to eat. I went back to one of the tables to pick up some eggs, when I saw the guy that led us here get into a limo and ride away. I frowned when I noticed that it had no license plate.Grabbing some eggs, I sat down to eat. After I stuffed myself with eggs, Claude and I got our huts beside each other. I stepped inside, and there were three prison suits waiting for me. They looked about the size of a fox. I slipped into one, and laid on my bed of straw. Sleep surprisingly came quick, and I drifted off to a dreamless sleep. The next morning, I woke up to a loud, obnoxious, horn signaling us to get up. I rose sleepily wondering what I would do today. Claude came to me bearing news. "I went over to the kitchen, and they waved me off, saying that we have to run first." "By ourselves?" "I don't know." I looked around the forest for a while until I saw a large group. "Well let's find out!" I ran over to the group who was lined up in front of a path. "Nice of you to join us." I jumped and bopped someone in the nose with my head. I whipped around and saw the fox who led us here, now as a human glaring at me. He slapped me hard on the cheek, bringing tears into my eyes. His dark green eyes bulged as he screamed, "know your place mutt or I will have you removed!"We then did the run in silence. The run lasted a whole day.
