CHAPTER 12 It had been two days since I escaped his dominance, his truculence. Each day since was a living hell. I couldn’t sleep alone, not even for a moment. Every unexpected sound—the doorbell, a creak—made me jump and flinch. Uncle Jacob assigned two security guards at the house, but I doubted they were enough against Salvatore and his men.
