Chapter 6- Diana

A week went by and I started to love working here. Normally during lunch time, Mrs. Clifford would come with lunch prepared for us and In the morning Ciana would come everyday and clean the library.

Occasionally I would even see Ryan helping around and we would always have a chat whenever he's around.

Something surprising happened after a week though.

I was talking to Ryan while having a snack on Tuesday and by the time we were almost done eating, he abruptly stopped talking and completely zoned out. I realized that someone must be mind linking him. After a few minutes he turned back to normal and said, "I'm really sorry Alexa but I need to rush back to the palace right this instance.

Something has happened."

He got up and was ready to leave but turned back and said , " Oh and no matter what do not go out on the streets. It's not safe right now. So stay here. I'll text u once it's safe and if possible I'll come to escort you home."

I simply nodded and he left. The rest of the day went by sorting and arranging more books. Even though it is a lot of work, I do manage to find time to read some books too and luckily Mr. Clifford lets me take any book home for reading too. So for a book lover like me, this job is surely my kind of dream job.

It was around 6:30 by now and I was still inside the library, waiting for Ryan's text.

*Damn, why hasn't he texted yet? Did he forget he asked me to wait?*, I mindlinked Seph.

*Probably. Though even if he forgot, it's not like you are some damsel in distress. More like a kick ass warrior princess instead*, Seph said proudly

*Well yeah, but he doesn't know that yet. It's really getting late and I'm pretty much hungry already. I suppose we should just head home*, I replied.

*Yeah let's get some pasta on the go to have for dinner*, Seph suggested.

*Seph that's like literally 15 minutes drive from here and the opposite direction. Did you really had to get Pasta cravings the same day Ryan wanted us to be careful?!*, I retorted.

*He asked to wait for him and stay safe inside not just stay safe and careful.*, she smugly replied.

*Ok, fine. Let's go. I'll drop him a text though just in case he remembers, that I left for home*, I replied.

I cut off the mindlink and took my cell out of my pocket and sent him a text stating,

"Hey Ryan, probably you may have forgotten to text since you would be busy, so I'm just texting to let you know that I waited a while for your text and just left for home now. Text me once you get this. Hope everything is safe and alright now."

After I sent the text, I kept my cell back in my pocket and bid my farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Clifford, since they were still here checking some new book shipment details. Then walked out the library in the opposite direction to my house and towards the pasta Restaurant.

Ever since I started working at the Cresent Moon library, I always walked to and fro from my apartment. Simply because I prefer walking this distance and it even give me ample of time to enjoy the scenery of the neighborhood and also because using such an expensive car to work inside a library would gain way more attention than I'd want.

I was only a street away from the restaurant now, another left turn around the corner and I'd be there. Luckily I decided to take a short cut through an alley so I'd reach early. Once I reached I gave my order and it was ready in 10 minutes. I took my parcel and decided to take the same alley route, even though it is a bit dark and which for normal humans would even seem scary, but well I'm a tribrid, what should I be afraid of.

I was walking my way back and almost even reached near the library, when I heard a girl's scream. I immediately ran towards the place, where the scream came from. Turns out, at the garden, near the library, a group of guys were completely surrounding a girl.

When I went ahead, I noticed that two of them were dragging the girl somewhere but she was resisting and seemed like she was injured as well. Her face was completely strained by tears and she was continuously clawing both the men dragging her.

But what shocked me further was when I saw her almost shift into a werewolf. But she couldn't completely shift due to her injury I presume. At first I thought the men trying to capture her were hunters but then I tapped into my wolf super hearing and heard their conversation.

"I am not going back to the pack. Your alpha killed the previous alpha, my father, and my mother.", the girl shouted.

"Too bad for your parents, but you know the alpha only did that to get you. Or more like get your Esarosa powers and become the Alpha King", one of the men spoke, who seemed like the leader, standing in front of her.

Hearing the word 'Esarosa', Seph mindlinked,

*She's an Esarosa? Then why can't she defend herself?!*

*Maybe her injury is major? That's the reason she can't even shift.* I replied to her.

*We're immune to Wolfsbane and all other similar stuff, if you remember*, she replied.

*Whatever be the reason Seph, seems like she needs our help. There are around 9 wolves including the 2 holding her, I know you could take them all down but can't risk especially them knowing that another Esarosa is in town. So I'll just use magic to save her*, I told Seph.

*Simple magic won't be enough to knock them all down. We would have to fight, so I suggest drawing your magically enchanted sword.*, Seph added.

*Yeah, you're right. It's been a while, so I hope we're not too rusty*, I smirked and kept my parcel on a nearby bench and walked straight ahead towards the group.

The group seemed startled seeing my arrival. The leader ordered one of them to attack and stop me. He came running towards me with his right hand in position for a punch. I looked up at him and smirked saying, "Ad somnum".

'THUD'. He fell on the ground unconscious in a second.

All of them turned their heads towards me in shock, trying to analyze what just happened.

"So who's next?", I said with a bright smile.

The leader shouted, "Everyone shift and attack her. She's a witch"

Another one ran towards me and lunged ahead while in the middle of shifting. I dodged to the right and incanted, "Ad Somnum". He fell unconscious as well.

By this time, the leader was trying to sneak that girl away with the 2 men dragging her and sent the rest 4 in their wolf forms to attack me.

I quickly dodged them and shouted the same incantation. However in their wolf form, the magic wouldn't be as effective as before so they only got drowsy, so I quickly drew my sword out magical and attacked them.

I made sure to not injure them on any vital points. It would be a waste to let them die before they are investigated by the Alpha King's pack afterall the famous benevolent King does deserve to know what all happens within his kingdom.

Once I injured them all. I followed in the direction where the girl was dragged, upto the alleyway, where I saw that they were trying to drug the girl, who was putting up a fight.

I quickly ran to her aid. I pierced my sword through one of captor's stomach who fell on the ground whereas the other one shifted, ready to attacked me. I pulled my sword ahead in front of me, in a battle stance, ready for his attack. Meanwhile that girl ran behind me, frantically sobbing and asking me to save her.

"You have no idea who you are messing with. We're one of the largest pack in America and even if you save her today, we will come back for her and then there wouldn't be anyone to save you" , the leader said laughing.

I looked him in the eye and said smirking, "Who the hell told you that you would be going back today?"

Then I looked at him with a dead serious face and said, "How dare you even try to drag someone to force mate with your alpha! Your Pack thinks mating is a f*****g joke? Seems like your alpha needs to be taught the seriousness in his favorite brutal way".

"You insolent.....", before the leader could continued, I magically teleported right in front of him and chopped off his right hand, which he had pointed at me while speaking and then incanted "Silencio".

The remaining wolf was left in horror but still tried to attack me from behind but before he could, I turned around and held him by his neck and used my wolf strength to break his neck.

Then I turned back towards the leader, held his collar and said, "Now your f*****g Alpha would get to know how badly you failed but you would never be able to ever tell anyone of what happened here, not even using a mindlink. Don't you ever come looking for her ever again. She's no longer a member of your pack and also know that she's in my protection from now on."

I let go of his collar and then turned towards that girl. Even though she was scared, she seemed more at calm now. I raised both my hands in surrender and slowly approached her. For a second I thought she would just bolt off but instead shockingly, she hugged me.

"Th-thank you... Thank you so much for saving my life.", said said, still sobbing.

I carefully hugged back and said, "It's alright. You're safe now. They can't hurt you anymore."

She pulled back and looked at me.

"I don't know what would've happened if you weren't there today. They.. they killed my parents and took over my pack", she said with a fresh batch of tears falling down her eyes again.

After a few seconds of consoling, she continued, "My own Uncle killed my father and mother just so that he could mate with me and took over the pack."
