Blurb

Three days before her wedding, Hannah died in a burning car. Abandoned by the man she loved.

Her fiancé saved her stepsister and left Hannah behind with only one promise: “I’ll come back for you.”

He never did.

But death wasn’t the end.

Hannah wakes up three years in the past, moments before the proposal that once sealed her fate. This time, she rejects the man who betrayed her and refuses to play the fool she once was.

And when Ethan, the man who secretly loved her in her first life steps closer, Hannah begins to wonder if revenge is all she truly wants.

Because the closer she gets to the truth, the more she realizes her death was no accident.

Will Hannah choose revenge against the people who destroyed her or the man who would choose her without hesitation?

Chapter one
Hannah stood before the mirror, staring at the beautiful silver engagement ring on her finger. She smiled deeply and whispered to herself, "So I'm finally going to be called Mrs. Nathan." The thought kept crossing her mind with a warm feeling. She slowly twisted the ring and admired how the silver sparks caught the dim light of the dashboard. She couldn't let the soft smile disappear from her face, the kind that came with joy and happiness too big to hide. "Mrs. Nathan," she said again, slower this time, letting each syllable settle in like it belonged there. Outside the car, rain poured heavily while gusts of wind whipped the trees back and forth. The city lights dimmed into colorless streaks across the wet glass, but Hannah barely noticed. Her mind was too full of one thought: she was finally going to be loved. Three days from then, she would have the family she'd always pictured, a loving husband and a home filled with warmth. Maybe one day children would run about the house, never once wondering if they were loved. Hannah had spent most of her life in wealth but starved of affection. Her father had tried his best to raise her and bring a mother figure into her life, but after he died when Hannah was sixteen, nothing was ever the same. The mansion felt like a prison. Her stepmother never truly embraced her, and neither did her stepsister, who always seemed to want everything Hannah had, even though Hannah had always gotten more attention. Nathan was different. He made her feel special, seen, chosen. At least, that was what she believed. "Hey Han, you're smiling again." Lydia's voice pulled her back to reality. Her stepsister kept her eyes on the road, long hair falling over one shoulder, expression calm. Hannah smiled. "Would you even blame me?" Lydia gave a small laugh. "You've been staring at that ring since the ride started." Hannah laughed too, soft and light. "Maybe I'm just excited about the wedding." She looked down at the ring again. "I've waited so long for this day." Lydia's lips curved into a smile. "You're lucky, Han." There was something in the way she said it. Hannah glanced at her. "I mean it," Lydia added. "You're lucky to have Nathan." "Oh, I know." "You really love him that much?" "Yes. He's not perfect, but he's good to me." Lydia's fingers tightened slightly on the wheel. Her expression shifted, but Hannah didn't notice, eyes fixed on the window. The road felt empty, like they were the only car out in the storm. Water rushed through the gutters on either side. "I just want everything to be over," Lydia said after a stretch of silence. "You mean the wedding?" "Yes. The presentations, the meetings, the endless calls." Hannah laughed, then cleared her throat. "I just want to wake up one morning and realize I'm finally living the life I've always wanted." Lydia glanced at her. "And what life is that?" "A normal life." Hannah smiled. "What do you mean, normal?" "A quiet home. A responsible father. A mother who never disappears. Kids running around the house." Her smile softened. "A home where everyone feels loved." The rain grew heavier, drumming against the roof. The wipers struggled to keep the road visible. "Maybe we should pull over until it clears," Hannah said. "We're almost home," Lydia answered, low, eyes fixed on the road. Hannah nodded and turned back to the window, watching raindrops slide down the glass and disappear into the dark. "Someone should wake me up. I still can't believe I'm getting married in three days." Lydia smiled again. "You've said that a lot for one drive." "Because it still doesn't feel real." Hannah lifted her hand, letting the dashboard light catch her ring. "You know, when I was younger I used to imagine this moment." "What moment?" "The moment someone would finally choose me. Genuinely." Lydia glanced at her. "I know it sounds silly," Hannah said. "It doesn't." She lowered her hand. "Now I have Nathan." Lydia's eyes returned to the road. "Yes. You do." Something was wrong with the way she said it, but Hannah couldn't place it yet. "Why do you sound like you're not happy for me?" Hannah asked. Lydia laughed quickly. "What? Of course I'm happy for you. I'm just tired, okay?" Hannah studied her for a moment, then let it go. "Okay, if you say so." She leaned back into her seat. Neither of them spoke for several minutes. The highway stretched endlessly ahead. Cars were rare now, the rain swallowing the city lights, leaving only faint glimmers in the distance. Then Hannah noticed something. A pair of headlights. She turned toward the window and saw a large truck closing in fast from behind. "Lydia. There's a truck behind us." Lydia checked the rearview mirror. "I see it." "It's coming really fast." Lydia's expression didn't change. "Don't worry, I've got this." The truck drew closer, its headlights nearly blinding through the rain. "Lydia!" "Like I said, don't worry, Han." But this time, something in her voice made Hannah's stomach tighten. The truck kept closing. Lydia's grip tightened on the wheel. Hannah sat upright. "What's happening?" Lydia didn't answer. Without warning, the truck swerved into their lane. Hannah's heart lurched as its headlights cut straight through the rain toward them. "Lydia!" she screamed. Lydia jerked the wheel, but there was nowhere to go. For one terrifying second, Hannah saw the truck rushing at them. CRASH. The world exploded into shattered glass, twisting metal, and screams. The car spun across the rain-soaked highway. Hannah's body slammed against the seat belt, pain shooting through her head. Her vision blurred. She tried to call Lydia's name, but no sound came. Then, faintly, beside her, a voice. "Han…" Hannah forced her eyes open. Through the smoke and shattered glass, she saw a small flame flickering beneath the car. Her heart stopped as the flames began to spread.
