Tessa’s POV As I walked into my house, I was immediately struck by how dark and empty it felt. The lights were off, and the only sound was the ticking of the clock on the wall. I searched for the light switch, my heart pounding in my chest. Where was my fiancé , Robert? And where was our adopted daughter, Sophie? The house felt eerie and unsettling. I finally found the light switch and turned on the lights, illuminating the familiar rooms. But something still felt off. I searched for Sophie first and saw her sleeping peacefully in her room. A wave of relief washed over me as I saw Sophie, fast asleep in her bed. But where was Robert? I checked the rest of the house, opening each door and peering inside. But there was no sign of him. I started to feel a sense of panic rising in my chest.
