I turned to Riley, pleading with him. "Riley, you can't let him do this to me," I said, my voice desperate. But Riley just looked at me, his expression blank. "The reaction is irreversible now," he said, his voice matter-of-fact. "There's no going back." I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
