Tessa’s POV
The audacity of William, thinking I'd drop everything to answer his call. At first, I thought, "No way, I'm not giving him the time of day." But, my curiosity got the better of me. I wondered what he could possibly want, and a small part of me was willing to indulge him. After all, it's not every day my ex-husband decides to reach out.
But, I'm not foolish. I knew better than to take his call with Robert sitting right next to me. No, no, no. I wasn't about to stir up any unnecessary drama, especially not with my wedding just around the corner. So, I discreetly moved away, putting some distance between us before answering. I took a deep breath, preparing myself for whatever nonsense William was about to spew. "Hello?" I said, my voice firm and detached, revealing nothing.
