Chapter 01
Lilliana POV
I looked at my own reflection in the mirror; the black sleeveless dress made me look charming. Today I'm going to my brother's wedding; we haven't seen each other for a very long time. I'm glad he's finally getting married, but knowing the fact that my brother Silas is getting married to the Russian Don's daughter Aelita, I'm scared since the Russian Mafia is so ruthless. For some reason my premonition felt bad; I sighed to calm myself down.
"No, it's a happy day, Silas. After all this time I'm going to see my family again," I said with a forced smile. I straightened my clothes for a moment before going to the wedding.
"Mom!" The soft voice of a child behind me made me turn my head.
How could I not smile seeing that little boy looking excited? Yeah, he's Callum, my son.
"Callum, come here," I said to Callum while stretching out both hands.
Then I hugged him tightly, saying, "Are you ready to meet Grandpa and Uncle Silas?"
I smiled when I saw Callum nodding with his sweet smile; it made me pause for a moment. Looking at Callum closely, the 3-year-old boy was very handsome with curly hair and brown eyes. Made me remember...
"You look so much like him," I muttered, recalling the past, but after that I shook my head. Why remember the past?
After that I got up and grasped Callum's hand while saying, "Let's go."
Callum and I really went to the wedding; it took a few minutes to arrive at the wedding venue. When I entered, I had time to look around the building. There were so many guards carrying guns; I don't know if it scared me. My hands were suddenly shaking, but I tried to think positively.
After arriving at the building, Callum and I entered while holding hands. Before entering, I squatted in front of Callum while saying, "Callum, listen to me. You can't stay away from Mommy. You have to stay next to Mommy, okay?"
"Okay, Mommy," said Callum, which made me feel relieved.
"Then let's go in." I took Callum's hand and entered the building together.
Just entering, I felt several pairs of eyes staring at me. It made me a little nervous, but I still walked up to Dad.
"Papa, how are you?" I asked casually, because I wasn't very close to my father. I don't know; we're not like family? But he actually loves me and Silas; he would do anything, including sending me to Italy for three years, just because he didn't want me to get involved with his mafia enemies.
"Hey, Lillia. You finally came; go talk to your brother. I have to talk to Vlad first."
That's why I wasn't very close to Dad; he was always busy with the business world and the mafia. I sighed when my father met Vlad Petrov, a notorious Russian mobster. For some reason I shuddered in horror when he looked at me.
"Callum, let's go see Uncle," I said, carrying Callum to meet Silas.
I approached Silas, who was still getting ready. "Silas," I said, immediately releasing Callum from the carrier, then hugging Silas tightly. Yeah, I missed my brother.
"You're coming? I thought you didn't want to come. How are you?" asked Silas sincerely.
I paused, smiling at Silas. I did go and live in Italy for four years, not without reason. But I had my own reasons for staying there. I patted Silas on the shoulder, then said, "I'm fine; are you happy with this marriage?"
Silas was silent, which worried me. But a moment later, Silas nodded his head with a smile, and I felt relieved.
"Yes, I am happy. I was even happier when I heard you were coming to my wedding," Silas said.
I'd almost forgotten that my purpose in coming wasn't just to see my brother get married. But I also wanted to introduce Callum to him; all this time I had never brought Callum together with my family. Because I deliberately hid Callum.
I looked at Callum, who was busy with his toys, then I pulled Callum's hand to stand in front of Silas. "Silas, as I said. I will introduce you to my son, Callum," I said with a faint smile.
Brak...
An object fell, didn't it? It wasn't Silas; I looked back; someone had just walked in. Maybe he heard what I said earlier; I looked at the man closely. A little... nervous?
"Matteo, what's wrong?"
Yeah, it was Matteo who had just walked in; I recognized him. Matteo was Silas's best friend; how could I not recognize him? But seeing Matteo made me very nervous.
"His son?" I could hear Matteo muttering, but I chose to remain silent.
"No, I just wanted to say that the wedding will start soon," Matteo said with a flat face.
I frowned because Matteo looked at Callum with a sardonic gaze. I don't know if it was just my feelings. But as a mother, I immediately pulled Callum into a hug. After that I turned to look at Silas and said, "Let's go out."
Yeah, I walked out of the room with Callum, but when I passed Matteo, he pulled my hand until I stopped in front of him. I didn't understand why Matteo was looking at Callum sarcastically; I don't know, it was very disturbing.
"What's wrong?" I asked him a little curtly.
"How are you? Is he really your son?" asked Matteo, still staring at Callum.
I swallowed, then nodded as I said, "As you can see, I'm fine. Of course he's my son."
After saying that, I quickly removed my hand from Matteo's and then left because the wedding was about to begin.
Finally the wedding started; Silas and Aelita walked to the altar. While I sat in the guest chair, watching my brother's wedding. But my gaze preferred to stare at Matteo, who was sitting in front of there. Ah, damn, the memories of the past came back to my mind.
