~Chapter 4

HARLEY "So, you speak." He whispers next to me. I just rolled my eyes at him. "You have such a beautiful voice, by the way." He says. I continuously ignore him. "Whether you hate it, dislike it or love it, I'm still your friend." He said. I angrily turn to him. "Can you please just back off?!" I whisper yelled and responded back to him for the first time since class started. Since we got in class, he has been on my neck none stop like a bugging fly, flying around your ears, and I have no choice but to cope with it. "I don't back off from my friends." He says. I rolled my eyes at him. "I'm not - you know, just kiss your ass." "How much I would love to do that to yours." "Really? You know what?" "What?" "f**k you." I said. "I can take you to my bed after school." "Why are you so annoying?" "Why do you love it?" "I don-" "Miss Hale and Mr. Breedson, will you please share your conversation with the class." I looked around and the whole class were looking at the both of us. I gulped. I'm not use to this much attention. "With all not, due respect, me and.... Miss Hale will not like to share our private conversation. But would love to continue with it." Asher said with a grin. My jaw almost touch the ground. I looked back forward at Mrs. Jameson. "I'm sorry mam. We would not love to continue the conversation but listen to your teaching." "No we don't love your teaching. It just makes us sleep." "You, not me." I said glaring at Asher. "Both of us." "You alone." "Both of us." "You, alone." "Me alone?" "Both of us." I mistakenly say my eyes widen. He tricked me into saying that. Now the teacher might just think I was pretending to like her subject and think that her talking just makes me sleep which honestly isn't true. Noticing his trick worked and the teacher might just think I'm agreeing with him, he smirks. "You two, detention after school in my class." Mrs. Jameson said angrily. "But mam I-" she cuts me off. "No explanation." She said angrily. I actually thought this teacher knew how good of a student I have been to her. "Every time you girls see guys around, you have sudden bad attitude." "Is that true Miss Hale?" Asher playfully acts serious at me. "You are such a pain in the ass, you know?" I said annoyingly. I angrily huffed and stood up taking my bag with me and make my way towards the door. "Hey young lady, where do you think you are going?" I ignore her and kept walking opening the door and shutting with so much force. I hate him!! So f*****g much. Now I have detention afterschool, all thanks to him. What would I tell my parents? *** The last bell for my day rings - wait a minute. Am I forgetting something? DETENTION!!! Ah! I feel like hitting anything close by, but due to school properties I would have to calm my growing anger down. I made it to detention class. I only found two guys at the back corner really focused on their phones. Noticing Asher isn't here, it's obvious he wouldn't come. I went to the corner back of the class. I took my seat and rest my head on my hands on the table. Slowly dosing off. I woke up by the sound of the bell ringing. I'm actually a light sleeper especially when it comes to sleeping at home. I make sure to be extra alert, anything could happen. Yeah, I can be really insecure. I slowly set straight and let out a yawn. I almost jump in fright looking at Asher. He is sitting right next to me typing away on his phone putting on earphones. There are few students in the detention class as they get up with their bags and leave. But Asher doesn't make any move in leaving. I ignore that and just got up with my bag and walked towards the door. I finally reached the door but my head slowly turns to Asher who hasn't make a single move in leaving. He was still seated comfortably not even bothered to leave or check his surroundings. Should I go over to him and tell him detention period is over? Or should I leave him in the class alone? My mind went to all the things I went through all because of him. I nodded concluding second option sounds good. I twist the door nob open and got out. Next thing I know I went back straight in and made my way towards Asher. Wasting no time I remove both his ear phones. He looks back up at me amused. Not looking surprised a bit. And why is he amused? "I actually thought you wouldn't come back." He said. Wait a minute. He knew didn't he? He was watching my every move and acted like he didn't know when the bell rang. Stupid fool! I stomp my feet and angrily start walking towards the door and out shutting the door with so much force, not caring if it woke the old woman sleeping on the table in class or not. I wasted my energy thanks to him. He knew all this while and pretended. How could I have fallen for that? He is unbelievable. He just has the freaking looks. "Hey! Wait up!!" He yells from behind. But that just engines me to even walk faster. But next thing I know, I am facing him due to the swift move he made with my wrist. "Where are you running to?" He asks amused. "A place, I would not find you." I replied angrily. "Woah! You really must hate me." He said with a smirk. "You are dumb to just find out." His facial expression changes. "Chill out." He says looking a bit shocked at my reaction. "Let go of my wrist!" I said and tried taking his hand off my wrist but he had a strong grip of course. His huge muscles can't be there for nothing. I angrily thought. I look angrily into his beautiful hazel eyes. He stares back at me, blankly. The place suddenly filled with silence. But I couldn't complain since his eyes are so captivating, annoyingly. His eyes suddenly softens. "Look, I'm sorry." He says looking somewhat guilty. I stare at him a bit shocked at his apology. Did he just apologized or I'm hearing things? "What?" I asked confused. "I said I'm sorry." "Why? Why are you sorry?" Does he really know how many times he got me really angry and annoyed? "I can see, I have been a pain in the ass." "A big one." I added folding my arms. He lightly chuckles. Making me think why did you made him so perfect, God?! "I'm really sorry okay? Do you forgive me?" He asks looking hopefully. I stare at his mesmerizing eyes. He looks really serious into my eyes and I could tell he was being sincere and not being one of his painful plays. The place filled with a screaming silence, pin drop silence. Remembering my place. "No." I finally replied. "What?" He asks confused and looking shocked. "My answer is no." I said. "I can't forgive you." I said confidently and staring at him emotionlessly. He stares at me. His hand finally loosens on my wrist, I used that as a cure and harshly remove my wrist from him, turning my back on him and leaving him in the empty corridors alone as I started walking towards the exit. His hand reaches my shoulder and he turns me back around. How can he stretch his hand that long? How is he so fast? He then stares at me, intensely. He was searching into my eyes. Looks like he was trying to open a closed book. "There is more." He says not taking his eyes away from mine. "What?" I asked confused. "Why you rejected my apology, there is more to that." "Just leave me alone. Would you? Please?" I said tiredly and shrugged his hand off my shoulder turning back around and started walking quickly towards the exit of the school this time. "You seem scared." He says sounding deep in thought. Trying to read out loud the book he finally managed to open. I stopped and turned back towards him. I opened my mouth ready to reply him but nothing came out, no single word I could find to respond him or back up his words. For the first time, not having any comebacks or replies for him. He must have noticed my reaction to his comment, knowing I tried looking for a suitable lie for that comment. "Why are you scared?" He asked taking slow steps towards me. I gulped. Finally reaching were I stood, he bends to my level and stares into my eyes. He isn't being his usual playful self. He looks really serious and sincere. He looks ready to reach the end of the book. I looked away in shame as I finally decided to tell him the truth. "You will soon leave me like everyone else." I said then faced down not wanting to look at his face, feeling really embarrassed to let that out. "Come to think of it, I haven't seen you with anyone since I started here. Why is that?" He asks curiously. "They all left me with betrayals, one of them, and it never felt good." I answered honestly remembering the Felicia girl. After few seconds of silence, he lets out a sigh. "Look at me." He said but it came out more as a demand but I couldn't let him see my glossy eyes. "Come on." He pushes. I slowly look back up at his eyes. "I'm not everyone. Not everyone is the same. And I don't think I'm leaving you anytime soon whether you accept me or not. I'm determined to keep you close and not run away, like all just one person did." He says. I look into his eyes, searching for lies in them but found none. A single tear slides down my cheek but Asher slowly wipes it off with his thumb. He smiles at me, a breath taking smile making me slowly smile back unintentionally. "Now, why don't we start afresh. How is that?" He asks with a grin. I nodded. "I'm Asher Breedson and you are?" "Harley. Harley Hales." "Double "H" sounds good." He says amused. He parted his arms signalling me to hug him. "Come on." He gestures. "I don't-" He pulls me close by my arm and hugs me tightly.
