HAZEL I stepped out of the boardroom feeling like I’d just held my breath for forty-five minutes straight as adrenaline still pulsed behind in my veins, raw and whole. I wasn’t even two steps down the hallway before I ran into him. My father. He looked tired—but furious. Like he’d heard just enough to come storming in, but he knew that he was far too late to stop it. I was pleased to see him shaken, especially knowing that I was the cause of it. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he snapped, grabbing my arm and pulling me to a stop. “Let go of me,” I gritted out, irritated by his audacity. He practically growled the words at me. “You want to embarrass yourself? Fine, I couldn’t care less. But don’t you dare drag the company down with you.” Angered by his ridiculous words
