Chapter Twelve

"I'm so exhausted" Brenda announced as she fell face flat on Valerie's bed stretching out herself now clad in her pyjamas.

"I know right? It's been a very long day of me being so bored since y'all left me home alone" Alexa complained swiping her pillow from Valerie to Brenda.

"That wasn't the initial plan, you were supposed to come along with us, but the event allows just three people from a company and we couldn't replace Ross with you this time around, we needed him to Make some presentations so you just had to stay back." Brenda explained trying to dodge her next pillow attack.

"Still doesn't change the fact that I was home alone all day" Alexa bit back.

"Oh come on! Don't be such a baby" Brenda replied chuckling at her sister's frowning face.

"Hey guys! Look we're in the Lead!" Valerie announced interrupting them giggling as she jumped on the bed emerging from her closet now dressed in her night gown with a pink towel still wrapped around her head.

She drifted closer so they all gathered round as she scrolled through some website on her tablet.

"We're ahead with about Four points?" Alexa asked peeling her eyes from the tablet and turning to face Valerie.

"We are! All that's left is for Brenda to deliver the final blow tommorow and we're taking the prize home!" Valerie explained lifting her hand in anticipated victory.

"Way to go Guys!" Alexa beamed pulling them both by their necks closer to her head in a weird side head hug.

"I can't believe this!" Brenda finally spoke beaming with joy unconsciously rubbing her neck Alexa just freed from her grip.

"This calls for a celebration!... We should probably drive out to get Icecream or something. I'm kinda tired of waking up to this same view everyday. No offense to this mouth dropping resort but it's kinda way too boring for a girl like me." Alexa said rolling her eyes.

"We've been here just two days! What exactly are you already tired of?.... Besides I warned you to stay back home." Brenda responded.

"It's just I roamed round almost this whole building while everyone was away and a little tour around the state wouldn't hurt, would it?" Alexa stated with pleading eyes.

"Well, it's only just 8pm we could rush out for a quick drive and come back before it gets too late." Valerie suggested tapping her tablet's locked screen to confirm the time.

"Fine!..... Buh we should be back no later than Eleven. We all need to get enough rest for the final event tommorow. Okay?" Brenda announced reluctantly agreeing.

"Yayyy! I'll go put something on" Alexa announced as she peeled off her sleeping robe from her body dashing out of the room and heading for hers.

"I'll also go change, I'll be back in a few" Brenda announced leaving the room while Valerie just nodded in response while going through her clothes searching for something to put on.

Alexa put on a white sweat shirt with Capri baggy pants and rolled up her hair in a messy bun, Valerie put on a free Casual knee length jump suit that carried a deep shade of blue and tucked her hair into her head warmer while Brenda threw on a simple plain grey shirt with loose pants similar to a Palazzo and tied her hair in a low ponytail.

They all headed out of their suite and debated on which route to take for two solid minutes arguing and coming to no reasonable conclusion.

"Yikes.. can we just get going already!" Brenda screamed placing her fingers against her temple and her other hand on her waist as she tapped against the floor with one foot tired of the argument.

"You ladies need an escort?" Michael asked from behind startling them all.

"Or perhaps two escorts?" Mason added appearing from behind him.

"How long have you both been here?" Brenda asked turning to face the boys with a raised brow.

"Ever since y'all got out all dressed and arguing on which way to go." Mason replied grinning.

"And funny enough, we spent almost the whole evening together at dinner the other day and haven't had the time to meet ourselves again not knowing our building is just next to yours. We stay over there at the Eleventh building. We heard your voices and came to confirm if it was really you guys." Michael added pointing at the similar building next to theirs.

"I see" Brenda managed to say tracing the direction of his pointing index finger with her eyes.

"Now that y'all are done arguing, lead the way! Ladies" Mason announced bowing in a dramatic way and ushering them forward with one of his hands while the other he placed upon his chest.

"Nobody said we were going anywhere with you guys" Alexa informed him as they all remained rooted to their spots.

"Well.... You girls can't be alone wondering in the dark in a strange land, you need guys like us to protect you" Micheal interjected placing an elbow on Mason's shoulder.

"What's with guys and thinking girls need their protection?" Valerie questioned rolling her eyes at his comment.

"I seriously don't get it either" Brenda added.

"Assuming y'all got lost in the woods and perhaps some large beast, maybe some kind of creature like an Ape or an angry wild boar comes at you guys, you'll need us to save you" Mason replied smirking and brushing back his slightly messy hair with his fingers.

"So, how exactly are you gonna rescue us from a Gorilla? Tarzan." Alexa bit back.

"How about we drive to the woods right now and find out for ourselves? Jane." Mason replied wriggling his brows together.

"Okay... Okay.... That's enough.. if you guys really wanna come then let's get going we've wasted enough time arguing" Brenda announced bringing everyone's attention to her.

"I'm driving!" Michael announced rushing towards the packed cars.

"What? Hell no I'm driving!" Brenda disagreed rushing towards him.

"I'm not letting a girl drive me around town, that's totally against the Bro code" Micheal replied smirking and lifting the keys up above his head far beyond her reach.

"Hey! Give those to me!" Brenda screamed struggling in vein to reach up to the keys as he towered high above her.

"Really guys? What are we? Five?.... Next we'll fight over where to sit and who to get in first" Alexa stated rolling her eyes as she walked past them and entered into the back seat of the car.

Few seconds later, Valerie climbed in after her and Mason climbed in next leaving the two front seats unoccupied.

Shortly after, Micheal climbed into the driver's seat with a triumphant grin and Brenda followed in and strapped on her seat belt beside him with a frown.

She crossed her arms over her chest and threw her face in her window's direction as he chuckled and jerked the engine to life.

"I'll be having a bowl of vanilla flavoured icecream please" Alexa called out raising her hand as they all got into the small icecream and candy shop.

"Chocolate flavor for me please" Mason added after her.

"I'll go with strawberry" Brenda announced smiling sweetly at the young lad that scribbled down their preferences in his tiny jotter.

"What would you like sir?" The young boy asked looking up at Michael.

"Uhhhh...... I'll have a mix of the three" Micheal replied grinning widely.

"Glutton!" Brenda murmured under her breath loud enough for only her to hear.

"There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a Neapolitan honey" Micheal whispered to her smirking as though he actually heard her muttering.

Brenda smiled sheepishly as she realized her facial expression sold her out.

"And you Miss?" The boy asked holding his pen firmly and smiling at Valerie who was yet to place her order.

"Mint chocolate chip is fine" Valerie replied returning the smile.

"Mint? Really?" Mason asked totally displeased with her pick as they all got themselves seated by a round table by the glass window side with five comfortable seats.

"Nice view" Micheal commented admiring the astounding view of the clear night sky and numerous stars that brightened up the environment.

"Yeah.... Nice, but way too creepy" Alexa stated glaring at the almost empty street.

"It sure does feel like we're some group of teenagers in a horror movie" Valerie added also peering out the window.

"I know right. An almost empty street at only about 10pm??? That's really Absurd" Mason added frowning as he glanced at his wristwatch and back at the lonely street.

"Now you're making it sound so scary" Alexa replied in a tiny voice.

"Oh, there's absolutely nothing to worry about sis, we have Tarzan and the great and mighty King Kong over here to protect us remember?" Brenda said relaxing into her chair.

"Wait, By saying King Kong, where you perhaps referring to me?" Michael questioned immediately with a raised brow after fully processing her statement.

"Duhhhh" Alexa replied laughing as everyone joined in bringing back a lighter atmosphere as the young boy appeared with a tray full of their bowls of icecream.

Micheal settled the bills and they all dug into their bowls and chatted away like old school friends.

"Great, it's a few minutes to Eleven, we need to get going" Brenda announced rising to her feet.

"Oh... And I'm driving this time!" She added snickering as she snatched the keys to the car and held onto it with an iron grip.

"Fine" Micheal instantly agreed rising to his feet and raising up both hands displaying total surrender.

"There goes your Bro code" Alexa commented dryly as she lifted herself to her feet.

"Into the bin!" Valerie screamed after her perfectly tossing her fisted used paper wipes into the tall refuse bin that stood at the far end of the shop resulting in a well deserved high five from Alexa as they giggled and walked out behind Michael who only rolled his eyes in response with Mason catching up behind them.

"It's been a long night" Michael announced as Brenda pulled up in the parking lot as they arrived back at the resort.

"I know right, I'm totally exhausted" Valerie complained yawning and stretching her body as she alighted the vehicle with the others dropping down after her.

"You really should get some sleep, you were up and about today" Brenda advised tapping Valerie gently on her shoulders.

"Goodnight guys." Valerie called out yawning and rubbing her eyes as they reached the front of their suite.

"I'll take my leave now, see y'all tomorrow" she added stretching as she turned to leave taking slow steps with her shoulders slumped in obvious fatigue.

"Goodnight ladies, thanks for allowing us protect you to the best of our ability" Michael said rubbing the back of his head and grinning widely.

"See ya tomorrow guys" Alexa waved and followed after Valerie into the suite.

"I guess I'll get going now" Brenda announced turning to face Michael after watching Alexa sluggishly disappear behind the Large mahogany door.

"Alright" Michael simply replied glancing down at her.

"Won't you atleast give me a hug?" He added when she turned to leave without uttering another word.

"No Mister." Brenda replied smirking at him as she turned to glance up at him.

"I was just being polite, I could easily snatch you into my arms you know" Michael replied grinning and rocking on his heels with both hands in the pocket of his black hoodie.

"Asshole" Brenda replied laughing at his comment as she wrapped her arms around his torso.

"I'll see you tomorrow" He said camly squeezing her lightly with his chin resting on the top of her head.

"Mason! Wait up man!" He called out to Mason who ditched him for the front door.

"Bye!" Brenda said flashing him a cute smile before she ran off into their suite and waved him goodnight.

"Bye!" Michael replied returning her wave before he stepped in through the door.
