Chapter Eight

"I really do hate mondays" Brenda declared grumbling as she got out of bed.

"Great, I still have an hour and a few minutes all to myself before I find myself at work again" Brenda said to herself out loud as she picked up the tiny alarm clock that irritatingly woke her from her precious beauty sleep earlier this morning, before she slammed it shut with an unforgiving swipe to the ground.

She was surprised it still worked because she was certain she heard it break to pieces much to her satisfaction only to now discover it was just her imagination.

Setting the clock back on it's rightful place on her bedside table, she forced herself out of her night robe and got herself wrapped up in her towel before heading into her bathroom.

"Maybe, I should quit and probably sell the firm to willing able buyers and fly out the country with Alexa and have the time of our lives" Brenda thought for a minute very much pleased with her 'great idea.'

"Dad's so definitely gonna hunt me for the rest of my life" Brenda thought to herself laughing at her own dark joke.

"I love you so much Dad, so I'm gonna do this one thing for you." She admitted sighing before she entered her bathroom.

She glared at the long horizontal mirror that hung on all sides of her neat bathroom horrified by her reflection.

She looked like she was just rescued from a tornado with her thick blonde hair in a big tangled mess sticking out in different directions all over her face.

She rolled her eyes at her own reflection and snatched her favorite blue toothbrush from it's container and smudged it with excess toothpaste before she shoved it into her mouth and fiercely began brushing her teeth.

She stopped halfway and roared out laughing like a lunatic at her facial expression in the mirror as she violently brushed her teeth.

"You need help child" Brenda concluded pointing at her reflection in the mirror laughing softly after rinsing her mouth and returning her toothbrush.

She walked over to her tub and got in relaxing her nerves as she submerged in the bubble filled tub before bringing out her head and resting it up against the tub.

She gently scrubbed her skin and washed her hair trying so hard to untangle it in a failed attempt to brush through it with her fingers.

She eventually pulled herself out of the tub after rinsing off the foam from her body and dried her feet off on the large blue paw designed foot mat.

She picked up her towel and wrapped it around her chest before picking a smaller towel she used to dry off her dripping wet hair.

"Bless the soul that invented bathing" She said to herself smiling as she admired her freshly showered clean body.

She sat down by her vanity table and blow dried her hair before combing it out and perfectly brushing it into a high up ponytail leaving the voluminous curls bouncing down on her shoulders.

"Now, what do I wear?" Brenda asked her closet as she stepped in and brushed her fingers through the clothes neatly hung up in various compartments.

She settled for a short sleeved white button down shirt with a high waist royal blue pants she threw on with her favorite pair of black heels.

She looked breathtaking as usual after she applied very light make up on her already beautiful face.

"I should definitely consider being a model" Brenda said to herself proudly admiring her tall curvy build in her full length mirror till she decided she's had enough self appraisal for one morning.

She headed towards the door and glanced round the room before shutting the door close, satisfied that everything was in it's right place.

She strode into Alexa's room and opened the door gently after she received no response to her soft knocking only to find her still sound asleep.

She walked over and smiled down at her sleeping form and pressed a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room taking small calculated steps, trying not to awaken sleeping beauty with the loud clicking of her heels.

She exited the room after gently closing the door and walked down the stairs, heading straight to the kitchen frowning as she didn't find Mrs Cruz but a handful of maids scurrying around the house going about their chores greeting her brightly as they breezed by her.

She helped her self to a glass of milk she snatched from the refrigerator and sat alone by the kitchen island slowly emptying the contents of her cup into her stomach.

"Oh s**t"She muttered to herself glancing down at her black leather wristwatch as she realized she was running late and had another board meeting in the next five minutes.

She poured the remaining contents of her cup into her mouth and hurriedly disappeared out of the kitchen heading straight for the front door yanking it open.

"Good Morning ma'am" Tyler greeted curtly with his usual straight face as Brenda appeared in front of him.

"Morning, I'm late, let's get moving" Brenda replied hopping into the car as he held open the door for her.

She got to the office and was now going up the elevator after replying a thousand good mornings from the junior staffs as Tyler dropped her off while her phone kept buzzing with calls from Valerie.

She headed straight for the conference room and got in to find everyone already seated. She flashed each one of them she managed to make eye contact with an apologetic smile as she took her seat and commenced the meeting.

After five long straight hours, the meeting was paused for an hour's lunch break before they resume back to decide on a topic for the corporation's final presentation at FIRMFAIR.

"I'm so exhausted, we should totally drive over to the restaurant from yesterday and order some more chicken, their food is great" Brenda suggested as she and Valerie walked side by side heading to her office.

"Yes please" Valerie instantly agreed nodding obviously pleased with the suggestion.

"What in the Lord's name are you doing in my office?"Brenda demanded shocked to see Alexa sitting like a drunk man behind her desk with her two feet up on the table and both hands resting behind her head.

"Good Afternoon to you too Sis" Alexa replied grinning.

"Who let you into my office?" Brenda asked raising her brows and scanning the office as if wanting to find her culprit.

"This is my father's building and my sister is C.E.O, who wouldn't let me in?" Alexa replied holding both hands up in mid air finally taking her legs off the table and walking over to where Brenda and Valerie stood by the door.

"Oh... Hi! Nice earings" Alexa commented distracting herself from her sister's glares finally noticing the confused Valerie as she wordlessly blinked and exchanged glances between.

"Thank you. I'm Valerie, nice to meet you" Valerie replied giggling at Alexa's complement as she opened her arms for a brief hug.

"By the way, I came by to see Randy for myself, where's he?" Alexa whispered loudly smirking at her sister after releasing herself from Valerie's hug.

"Are you crazy?" Brenda plainly asked unbelievably with a deep red blush forming on her cheeks.

"Perhaps" Alexa replied now giggling with Valerie.

"He has probably gone out for lunch - speaking of lunch, we should get going before we both starve to death" Brenda said now turning to Valerie.

"Sounds like a good idea, we should definitely head out" Alexa chipped in looping both arms on each of theirs and led them out through the surprisingly wide door that allowed them all pass through together.

"The only place you should be going, is back home" Brenda declared smirking at Alexa.

"Oh come on! This is no way to treat a guess! Now let's go throw me a welcome party will ya" Alexa scolded firming her grip on their arms as Valerie watched amused by the little drama unfolding.

Tyler drove the girls down to the restaurant as Valerie and Brenda were too exhausted to walk and they both ordered for a plate of chicken and chips while Alexa settled for salad and lemonade.

The girls ate their meals and chatted afterwards having a really good time together.

"Borrow me your sister for a week pleaseeee....." Valerie jokingly pleaded looking at Brenda with big puppy dog eyes and her small pouted mouth.

"I'll pay you double to keep her all to yourself for a month" Brenda replied raising up her glass.

"We both know you'll come running after me the very next day" Alexa replied laughing as she also lifted her glass to her sister's.

"You could stop by for sleepovers whenever you miss her too much" Valerie added raising her cup up to theirs.

They all laughed in unison as they cheered before gulping down their drinks and finally left the restaurant after dropping a good tip for the nice waitress.

A few minutes later, they were back at the office now standing in front of Brenda's office arguing about who's hair is longer till Brenda froze and scurried into her office almost breaking down the door before yanking them both in with her and shut the door.

"What's the matter with her?" Alexa asked Valerie who shot Brenda a knowing look with a faint smirk on her cheek.

"It's Randy, he's coming this way" Brenda informed her pressing her back towards the door.

"Really?! I wanna see him!" Alexa screamed running towards the window and peeking out through the window blind.

"Which of em is he?" Alexa asked as she saw a group of men.

"That's him...... Uhhhh..... White shirt" Brenda described taking a spot beside Alexa also peeking out.

Valerie chuckled and joined them by the window.

"Damn..... He's hot" Alexa whispered loud enough for them both to hear.

"I know right" came Brenda's immediate response.

"He is" Valerie agreed before Alexa jumped out of the office without warning and stopped Randy just in time before Brenda could even dream of pulling her back.

"Hi" she greeted pulling the startled Randy away from his little group

"Hi?...." he replied unsure of what to say

"I'm Alexa" She informed stretching out her hand

"I'm Randy" He replied looking confused taking her hand for a brief shake.

"My sister likes you" Alexa whispered into his ears standing on her tiptoe as he towered high above her even on her six inched heel.

"She did not just do that!" Brenda screamed finally recovering from her shock facing the wide mouth Valerie who had the same expression as her.

"Your sister's got some nerve" Valerie said as Alexa skipped back into the office once Randy was out of sight.

"Alexa! I'm so going to kill you" Brenda said charging towards the grinning Alexa.

"Hey.... Calm down..... I didn't tell him you were my sister" Alexa replied in defense giggling as Brenda and Valerie shot her an Are-you-kidding-me-look.

"Even a blind man could see you both are sisters" Valerie pointed out exchanging glances at their way too similar faces.

"So what if he knows you like him? It's a start... You're welcome!" Alexa defended tearing off the wrap of her chocolate bar she kept safely in her pocket.

Valerie raised both hands up in surrender as Brenda looked over to her for support.

"It's time" Ross informed knocking gently on the door as he walked past the office.

"Great! It's time for our meeting and he's going to be there and now I feel weird, just great" Brenda said panicking.

"You'll be fine, just don't look in his direction" Valerie assured placing both calming hands on her shoulders.

"Hey, what am I supposed to be doing when y'all are busy with your meeting?" Alexa asked frowning.

"Oh... I've already arranged with Susan a junior staff to take you round on a tour round the company, she'll be here any minute now" Valerie informed her scrolling through her tablet.

"That sounds like fun, enjoy your meeting" Alexa replied waving as they both left the room with Valerie practically dragging the unwilling Brenda all the way to the conference room.

Susan arrived a few minutes later and Alexa began her tour while Brenda continued her meeting with Valerie, Ross, and the rest of the board members till they finally drew a conclusion and ended their meeting.

Brenda dashed out of the room with Valerie behind trying to keep up to her pace immediately the meeting was over to avoid meeting Randy's gaze as she couldn't handle looking into his eyes at that moment.

Alexa was already back from her tour and was seated in Brenda's office looking up some old magazine.

"Let's go home, I'm done for today" Brenda informed Alexa pulling her up to her feet and ruffling her hair.

"Did you enjoy your tour?" Valerie inquired and grinned when Alexa nodded firmly in response smiling brightly at her.

"Bye Valeria, see you soon" Alexa called out waving as she and Brenda exited the office.

"It's Valerie" Brenda Corrected

"What's the difference?" Alexa bit back causing Brenda to roll her eyes as they strolled towards the elevator.

Valerie smiled as she watched them both leave before turning to leave as she put out the lights and shut the door close before heading for her desk.
