My Alpha, My Love

chapter 18 Julien

The battle has finally started. We're all trying to work as a team to defend our territory and our family. This giant monster is scary using its giant fists to smash into the ground making us become unbalanced from the pure force the monster creates. Henry and I flank it on both sides, running circles around it trying to find a weak spot.

The other pack members are trying to take on the other dark Faye that is coming up the cliff or flying up the cliff.

the monster puts down both arms and skims his arms around his body on the ground trying to knock down anything in his path. Henry and I are in the path of his arms we have to think quickly.

"Henry! Jump up onto his arms and run towards his face! Then when he raises his arm jump off and run! I'm going for his legs!" I tell him with our mind link and he follows suit. I speed up my running so the monster cannot get me. Henry jumps with all of his might and gets up onto the monster, he starts running without any hesitation and when the monster lifts up his arms to try and get him down I launch my attack.

I aim right in the back of the knee trying to get an artery. I shove my paws into the ground trying to get as much force as I can. I open my jaw and go for the artery, my teeth scrape against his skin as I'm getting thrown into the air by the monster we're fighting.

BANG!

My body is thrown up against the rock wall, I can feel that some of my ribs are broken and it's difficult to breathe. I struggle to stand for a moment and then shake it off.

I dashed back towards Henry to the fight. Henry is circling him again sniping at his legs when he can. This might be the best strategy for us to defeat him.

Minutes pass by like hours and the hours pass by like minutes. I can feel all of the hurt members and I can't feel some of them anymore. I cannot focus on that. This monster is almost finished.

"Alpha... Help.." Therese says to me in mind link as soon as I feel her connection to me vanish... I stop in my tracks as I feel my heart stop and my stomach ball into a knot. "JULIEN!" I hear Henry call right before I feel my body getting crushed into the ground and I black out.

Therese POV

....

"Okay kids let's calm down a bit," I say to all of the young ones running around down here in the basement.

The basement isn't huge but it's not small either. It has 4 small bedrooms each with a small bathroom. then the living room is in the middle containing lots of toys for all ages and a 60" TV. I'm sitting on a long brown couch settled in the middle of the living room.

It's pretty relaxed here, mostly children, young teens,  pregnant women, and a couple of elderly people including myself. I take a deep drink of my wine I'm currently drinking to chill my nerves. As I do so I can't help but look over at the beautiful girl sleeping in the corner. No one knows who she is and the alpha has been searching endlessly for answers on top of everything else he's doing. I shake my head 'That young man is going to work himself to death' my wolf says. 'Yes he is, I wish he would rely on his pack more, but even his father had trouble with that.'

I get up and look around the room and do a head count to make sure everyone is still down here. One... Two... three.. I get thirteen and I realize we're missing one, little Tommy. I go up to the kids his age and ask trying to keep my voice calm, "Hey kids have you seen Tommy?" A bunch of them shake their heads no but I see a girl named Emma around tommy's age drop her head to keep her eyes away from mine.

I bend my knees so I can get to their level, "Hey Emma, it's okay you guys won't get in trouble I just need to make sure he's safe, okay?" I say calmly, trying to convince her to let me know where he is. She finally looked up at me and then looks at the stairwell door, "He forgot a toy in the kitchen and went to get it." she said innocently.

I stand straight up, "Thanks Emma, I owe you a cookie!" I hear a bunch of kids complaining that they don't get one but I can't focus I tell one of the older ladies that I have to go up and to watch everyone.

Alpha directly told us to not leave this room but I have to for the child's sake. There's a protection talisman over each window and doorway leading outside, but if one of them was to get taken off we would be sitting ducks in here.

I calm my nerves and look at the white door in front of me. I grab the door handle and turn trying to be a quiet and quick as I can. You never know if one of the Faye are going to be around here. The Faye are not just good at fighting but also have thought manipulation. It's not common in adults but for children and those with weak minds, it could be deadly.

I try to keep the squeaking of my feet going up the stairs to a minimum as I finally reach the top of the stairs. When I get to the top I'm greeted by a long hallway with large windows almost like a sun room the kitchen is almost set up like that too. If I take a left it leads to the kitchen and if I go right it leads up stairs and to the alphas office. I look through the windows and check out outside, trying to see our patrols and if there are any demon faye outside.

I don't see either one so I continue my way down the hallway. I turn the corner into the kitchen and I look towards the door. 'Tommy!' I exclaim in my head.  Then I look at what he's facing...

Pressed up against the window is a giant flying dark purple demon Faye. It has one eye as large as the childs body with wings on each side, and a tail as long as my body.

I realized it hasn't noticed me yet and I look behind it, only to see the two dead patrol pack members, their bodies deformed in a way you can't recognize them.

I do a double take on tommy and realize that he's standing on a chair making direct contact with the Faye. Tommy is slowly reaching up towards the talisman, and I jump into action.

"TOMMY!" I scream and I dash towards him, he doesn't hear me but as soon as I collide with his body I see the white slip of the talisman fall to the ground...
