I had just gotten back in my hospital room from getting my leg x-rayed, and was miserable. Tears still clung to the corners of my eyes. My body ached as if I’d been in a fight. Now that the initial adrenaline had worn off, I couldn’t move my leg independently at all. I had to lift it with my hands just to change positions. The pain that shot through it with every movement had me gasping for air every time. I’d never experienced anything like this. A nurse came in to wrap gauze around my hand, hiding the Toyota logo from sight. There was a burn on my wrist and I could only imagine that the air bag had knocked my hands off the steering wheel, causing the burn, and the logo hit the back of my hand instead of my chest in the process.
