Rosa
Chapter 1
Rosa's Pov;
I stared down at my meal in disgust; not that the meal wasn't tasty or anything of that sort but I just hated the idea of eating alone.
I knew I was supposed to be used to it by now because it had been that way since I turned five, but hell, I still hadn't gotten used to it, and I hated it day by day.
" Morning, Darling!" I heard Mom's slimy voice at my back and scrunched my face in displeasure.
My eyes were etched at the sight of her.
" What are you doing? Eat fast or you're gonna be late??" she snapped, sipping from her cup of coffee.
" Morning, Mom," I said with my face all rumpled up.
Well, not that she would notice or care.
All she cared about was her job anyway.
" Silas! Silas!!" she yelled from the dining and Silas, the driver, came running in.
" Is the car ready??" she asked him, picking up her purse.
Silas nodded.
" Mom!!" I yelled as she made it to the door.
" Eat fast and join me in the car," she said sternly and left, not minding that I wanted to say something more.
I dropped my fork with a cluttered sound and stomped off right away.

"Yes! Book all of the appointments and tell Lily to clean my office again and change the scent". She went on and on about the things she wanted and the things she didn't.
I was quiet all through the ride to my mum's office. When we finally got there, we walk straight to her office.
I sat for nearly thirty minutes listening to my mum give her assistant an earful while I tried hard to get her attention.
I gave up.
"Yes! Book all of the appointments and tell Lily to clean my office again and change the air freshener, this one smells off for some reason". She said with a wave of her hand over her nose.
"Make sure not to use that particular scent again". She stated. "Ever!".
"Yes, ma'am". Her assistant answered in a low voice.
"And yes, make sure the curtains are changed to something more neutral, I don't like that color". She pointed to the curtains on the window. "It doesn't correlate with my kind of person ".
I mentally rolled my eyes as I listened to my mother go on and on about what she liked and what she didn't.
Here she was talking about irrelevant things while I was trying to get her to look at me, not even to talk to me...at least just a look, that would be okay...that's all I ask for.
" You didn't even bother to ask what I was gonna say earlier?" I told her as soon as she was done with all that, and we were now on our way after briefly stopping by her office.
" Hold on; one second," she said as another call came in again, and she picked it up right away.
I sighed and turned to look out the window.
There's nothing I hated more than riding in the same car with her.
She always had endless calls to answer and it's like she's trying to let me know how busy she is and why she couldn't have time for me.
" So you were saying?" she turned to me and said after the call.
" My school trip. They need a parent to sign on the..."
" I'm so sorry, dear, please, one second," she said again and picked up the incoming call.
I got fed up and forgot all about telling her about the school trip we would be having.
This is my life; the only child to the first and only female Minister in the country and the richest woman - Mrs Victoria Browns, popularly known as Mrs Browns.
She was well-known in the country. You would either be a JJC, a newborn baby, or a dumb person not to know her, and yes, this woman is my mother.
A lot of people envy me and think I've got a great life, but if only they knew that my life isn't so great.
I have everything at my disposal...everything I have always wanted, except for one thing - my mother's love.
I can't remember the last time she looked at me properly.
She's hardly home. At times, she would be away for months, leaving me all alone in the mansion.
Growing up as a child, I always yearned for her love and attention, but I soon came to realize when I was older, that I was asking for too much.
I should have accepted this by now, but the yearning never ended and this had made me shut myself out of the world, and at times, I tried to be rebellious to see if she would come running, but no; it's either she sends her PA or talks to the principal of my school directly.
I was fed up and soon resulted in resenting her - I felt that at least, that would make me feel better and reduce the hurt.
I don't know my father, and I have no idea if he's alive or dead. I practically know nothing about him, and I don't care.
How different would he be from my Mom? I always had that thought.
" You don't have to send the driver to come get me. I can take a cab," I told her, and left the car before she could say anything.
I know she was gonna object to it.
It's one thing to not have time for me, and it's another thing to try and control my life.
She has my life in the palm of her hand...all planned and mapped out, but I have something for her too...a shocker; and I was waiting for the right time to give it to her - neatly wrapped.
I grinned as I walked into the school compound.
I was infamous for many things and one of them was late coming, but no one, not even the teachers or principal would dare caution me or try to punish me, but there was one teacher who didn't care about my status or whose daughter I was.
" Why are you just coming?? What's the time??" There he stood, by the gate, looking at me indistinctly.
The first thing I noticed about him was his guts and how different he was from all the teachers.
Gosh!! He's got guts.
" Good morning, Mr Charlie!" I said, smiling, tucking in my hair to my ears, as I knew no words or tactics of mine would get me out of his grip.
" That's not the answer to my question?!" he raised.
" Come on, Sir, you know I live far away from here. I tried to rip my way out.
In school, I was a completely different person from the quiet and calm person I was at home, and Mr. Charlie here has had his eyes on me for a very long time, right from the moment he came to the school, which I am well aware of.
Before I could say another word, Mr Paul, another one of my teachers, came and whispered something into his ears, and he shot me a glare before leaving.
" You can go in," Mr Paul said, and I nodded and left, walking straight to my classroom while wondering why Mr. Charlie was at the gate.
That wasn't his duty. We have a security guard for that.
As soon as I got close to my classroom, I came face to face with the three anti-goddesses of Moorim High as they were fondly called.
" Oh, no?!" I gasped.
