Kaira Sol is a fierce Beta warrior hiding a deadly secret—she carries Nyx, the legendary White Wolf. Sent undercover as an Omega to spy on her future husband, the dangerously powerful Alpha Sylus Black, she expects a cold, arrogant tyrant.

Instead, she discovers a maddening attraction, a possessive Alpha, and a mate bond neither of them can resist.

But when Kaira's true identity is exposed, assassins, betrayal, and a mysterious Queen emerge from the shadows. An ancient prophecy reveals that Kaira and Sylus hold the key to a forbidden Gate—and opening it could either save their world or destroy it.

With enemies closing in and secrets threatening to tear them apart, Kaira must uncover the truth before destiny claims her.

Because the greatest danger isn't falling in love with the Black Alpha…

Chapter One — The Bride Nobody Wanted
Kaira Sol had broken three noses before breakfast. The fourth warrior was reconsidering every decision that had brought him into the Silverfang training arena. He stood in the center of the circular fighting pit, breathing heavily, one hand pressed beneath his bleeding nose. Dust clung to his bare shoulders. Sweat ran down his temples. Around them, warriors crowded the wooden benches, shouting, laughing, and placing increasingly ridiculous bets. “Five hundred credits says she drops him in thirty seconds!” “Three hundred says he lasts a minute!” “He won't.” Kaira heard Mara's voice somewhere behind the crowd. She smiled. Her opponent saw it. His second mistake. “You're enjoying this,” he growled. “Immensely.” He charged. Kaira waited. One heartbeat. Two. At the last possible moment, she stepped aside. His fist cut through empty air. She caught his wrist. Twisted. Pivoted. His momentum became her weapon. His feet left the ground. He hit the mat hard enough to make the arena fall silent for half a second. Then everyone erupted. Kaira planted one boot between his shoulder blades. “Dead.” The warrior groaned. “Again.” “Absolutely not.” “Coward.” “You broke my nose.” “You still have another one.” Laughter thundered through the arena. Kaira finally stepped back and offered him a hand. He stared at it suspiciously before accepting. “Remind me never to volunteer against you again.” She grinned. “That's the nicest thing anyone's said to me today.” Deep inside her mind, a soft, amused laugh answered. You could have broken his arm. Kaira wiped sweat from her forehead. I was being polite. Your definition of polite concerns me. Kaira smiled. Nyx was always there. Always watching. Always listening. She wasn't like ordinary wolves. Nyx didn't feel like a second consciousness buried behind Kaira's own. She felt older. Sharper. As though some ancient creature had been sleeping beneath Kaira's skin and had awakened the day she was born. And Nyx was different. Very different. Kaira's gaze drifted toward the polished steel panels surrounding the arena. Her reflection stared back. Black hair. Gray-green eyes. A faint scar through her left eyebrow. Strong shoulders. Bruised knuckles. An ordinary young woman. Exactly what she wanted everyone to see. She reached up and touched one strand of her hair. Black. Convincingly black. But beneath the illusion, hidden by the ancient spell she had perfected years ago, her natural hair was silver-white. Not gray. Not pale blond. White. The color of moonlight on fresh snow. The color that belonged to the creature sleeping inside her. Nyx. The White Wolf. A wolf whispered about in old legends. A wolf some believed had disappeared centuries ago. A wolf whose bloodline could change the balance of power among the packs. Kaira lowered her hand. Secrets were safest when nobody knew they existed. “Kaira.” Her father's voice cut through the noise. Her smile disappeared. Alpha Rowan Sol stood at the edge of the arena. He looked different today. Older. Tired. Worried. That frightened her more than any opponent ever could. Her father wasn't a man who frightened easily. He was the man who frightened everyone else. Kaira stepped away from the mat. “What's wrong?” “Private.” One word. Her stomach tightened. She followed him from the arena. The heavy doors closed behind them, muting the noise. His office was unusually dark. Elder Tomas stood beside the window. Kaira stopped. She disliked Elder Tomas. Not because he was cruel. Because he knew too much. “Kaira,” the old man said. “Elder.” Her father moved behind his desk. For several seconds, nobody spoke. Finally, Rowan sighed. “The Elder Council has invoked the ancient alliance.” Kaira's brows knitted. “The alliance?” “Yes.” “Why now?” Her father exchanged a look with Elder Tomas. That frightened her more than the words themselves. “The Council believes the northern territories are becoming too unstable for the old divisions between our packs to continue.” Kaira's expression hardened. “What's happening?” “Three patrols have disappeared,” her father said. “Two smaller packs have been attacked. We found no survivors.” Her humor vanished. “And the Council thinks an old alliance will stop whoever is doing this?” “The alliance would unite Silverfang and another powerful territory.” “Which one?” Her father didn't answer immediately. Kaira's eyes narrowed. “Dad.” Rowan sighed. “Blood Moon.” The name settled heavily in the room. Kaira knew what it meant. Everyone did. Blood Moon was the most powerful pack in the northern territories. Its warriors were legendary, its borders nearly impossible to penetrate, and its Alpha was spoken about with equal parts respect and fear. Kaira leaned against the edge of the desk. “So the Council wants an alliance with Blood Moon.” “Not simply an alliance.” Something in her father's voice made her straighten. “What do you mean?” Elder Tomas stepped forward. “The ancient treaty contains a marriage clause.” Kaira stared at him. “No.” “Kaira—” “No.” “You haven't heard who—” “I don't care.” Her father closed his eyes briefly. “The Council has chosen the Alpha of Blood Moon.” Silence. Kaira stared at him. Then laughed once. It wasn't amusement. It was disbelief. “The Alpha?” “Yes.” “Not some Beta? Not a diplomatic representative?” “No.” Her father's voice softened. “Alpha Sylus Black.” The room seemed to shrink. Kaira knew the name. Everyone knew the name. Sylus Black. The Blood Moon Alpha. A warrior reputed to be ruthless in battle. A leader said to possess one of the strongest wolves alive. A man whose temper had become the subject of enough stories to fill a tavern for a year. Kaira slowly folded her arms. “The Sylus Black?” Her father nodded. “The one and only.” “You're sending me to marry the most dangerous Alpha in the northern territories.” “I'm not sending you anywhere.” “The Council is.” Her father's silence answered her. Kaira looked toward Elder Tomas. “You agreed to this?” “The Council's decision was unanimous.” Her eyes narrowed. “All of them?” “All but two.” That caught her attention. “Who disagreed?” Elder Tomas's expression became guarded. “That information is not yours to know.” Kaira smiled without humor. “Interesting.” She turned toward the window. Outside, the mountains were beginning to disappear beneath gathering clouds. Something about this didn't feel right. The Elder Council had suddenly invoked an ancient alliance. Blood Moon had been chosen. And Sylus Black had been named her future husband. Too many pieces. Not enough answers. She looked down at her hands. “So when is the ceremony?” “Three weeks.” Kaira turned sharply. “Three weeks?” “The Council wants the alliance secured before the next full moon.” Her heart began beating faster. Three weeks. Three weeks to enter Blood Moon. Three weeks to understand Sylus Black. Three weeks to decide whether the man she was being forced to marry was a monster… or something far more dangerous. Her father's voice softened. “Kaira, you don't have to like this.” She looked at him. “But?” “You have to understand what's at stake.” She did. The missing patrols. The attacked packs. The unstable borders. The Council's urgency. This wasn't simply about marriage. Something was happening in the northern territories. Something powerful enough to make the Elder Council break an ancient treaty out of desperation. Kaira picked up the black envelope bearing Blood Moon's crimson seal. Her thumb traced the emblem. A wolf beneath a crescent moon. A strange chill travelled down her spine. Nyx stirred. Don't go. Kaira's eyes narrowed. Why? Nyx was silent for several seconds. Then— I don't know. That frightened Kaira more than anything else. Nyx always knew. Kaira looked at the envelope again. Then slowly smiled. “Fine.” Her father blinked. “Fine?” “I'll marry him.” Elder Tomas released a breath. But Kaira wasn't finished. “On one condition.” Her father sighed. “I knew there was a condition.” “I meet him before the ceremony.” “Of course.” “Alone.” Her father's expression tightened. “Kaira—” “I need to know what kind of man I'm being handed to.” “He's an Alpha.” “So am I the moment I'm expected to stand beside him.” “You're not going to challenge him.” Her smile sharpened. “I didn't say I was.” Her father studied her. “You're planning something.” “Me?” “Yes, you.” Kaira lifted the envelope. “I'm simply going to meet my future husband.” Nyx laughed quietly inside her mind. Liar. Kaira smiled. I'm investigating him. And if you like him? Kaira's smile disappeared. I won't. You're certain? “Absolutely.” But as she looked at the Blood Moon seal, something inexplicable stirred beneath her ribs. Not fear. Not yet. Something far more dangerous. Anticipation. She had never met Sylus Black. She had never seen his face. She knew only the stories. And stories had a way of turning men into monsters. Kaira intended to discover the truth herself. She just didn't know yet that the man waiting beyond those northern borders would look at her once… and make every carefully constructed wall around her begin to c***k. Behind her, Elder Tomas watched her leave. His expression was troubled. He waited until the door closed. Then he whispered, “May the Moon protect us.” Because the Council believed it had chosen a bride to secure an alliance. What they didn't know was that the woman they were sending into Blood Moon carried a secret far older than their treaty. And if that secret ever came to light— the alliance would be the least of their problems.
