Chapter 16 Josh Heid Thompson Hubby: hey i'll bring my brother tomorrow on our friendly date. he's grounded and needed to breath. hope it's okay I had been reading the text again and again. What the hell? Why did he have to bring his little brother on our 'friendly date'? It was supposed to be the only two of us and nothing more. I couldn't care less if Eclair was grounded or not. His parents grounded him for a reason. But Ezerette was being a nice guy and brother so I guessed I couldn't really blame. Ezerette was just being Ezerette. Sylvia entered the room with a tablet in her hand and for a moment, she forgot that I was the boss. She quickly realized it as soon as she entered the room and went back and knocked. I chuckled. I told her to come in and she did. She told me that I had a few meetings today and some papers to sign. I asked what's my schedule for today and she told me the details. I went to sit on my chair and used the laptop to search something. I told Sylvia to wait. She nodded. While typing, Sylvia began to sing in a low tone, not minding that I was in the room with her. She had a beautiful voice, though so I didn't mind. She was singing a song that I didn't know and I'd actually liked the lyrics. "... but nothing ever gets me high like this," Sylvia sang as she studied the tablet in her arm, bobbing her head up and down as if she was feeling every beat of the song. "I pick my poison and it's you. Nothing could kill me like you do. You're going straight to my head. And I'm heading straight for the edge." And soon enough, I began to search the song through Google just by typing the lyrics that Sylvia had just sung. I found out that the song was sang by Rita Ora and the title's 'Poison'. I checked the whole lyrics and skimmed a little bit and I had found myself beginning to like the song even though I hadn't heard it yet. I bought the song on iTunes and told Sylvia that I'd go to the meetings. She nodded and walked away from the room.  When it's done downloading the song, I immediately listened to it. The beat was really good and I found myself singing the lyrics as I looked at the screen of my laptop. The chorus part was amazing and the message of the song was kind of... I didn't know. It felt like it was directed to me, like I was the one who composed the song and I had written it to someone special. "Bittersweet ecstasy that you got me in," I sang happily as I checked Rita Ora's f*******: page and liked it.  "Falling deep, I can't sleep tonight. And you made me feel like I'm out of my mind. But it's alright, it's alright, it's alright." Rita Ora's voice was good. I even listened to her song 'I Will Never Let You Down' and I also downloaded it on iTunes.  Charlonne the b***h barged into the room without even knocking and I glared at him. He just gave me a bird and a lopsided grin. I rolled my eyes at him. He asked me what's the latest update about Ezerette and I's relationship and I just shrugged, telling him that we're find and doing okay. I also - accidentally - told him that Ezerette and I would have a date tomorrow. Being full of himself, he said that he'd join us and I groaned loudly. We couldn't have more companion. One was enough, but two? Oh God, this date would be a disaster.  Then a thought flashed in my mind. If Charlonne was joining us, and Ezerette was bringing Eclair, then they could hang out and leave Ezerette and I alone for awhile. That sounded good. I nodded furiously at him and he grinned and high fived me. I gladly accepted it. +++ This was it. Our friendly date. I was wearing a casual outfit; not too fancy and not style-y. I was just wearing a black button-up shirt and and a denim pants with a black Vans to pair with my top and pants. I also styled my hair, brushing it upwards and I grinned at the mirror to check if my teeth were white enough. It was. Smiling, I had texted Ezerette that I'd pick him and told him that Charlonne was going to join us so he and Eclair could hang out. Just to make him accept it, I told Ezerette that Charlonne was a very responsible guy - he wasn't. I was just lying. He replied to me in matter of seconds, said that it was fine, that he's ready. So I went downstairs to the garage, hopped in my car, put the key in the ignition and drove off to Ezerette's house. After minutes of driving, I was now pulling to a stop in front of his house and I honked. Soon enough, Ezerette opened the door and went straight ahead to the car, Eclair following behind him. Ezerette was wearing a black v-neck tee that hugged his body perfectly, showing off his muscles and the curve of his delectable body. He had this grin tugged on his lips. To match his style, he wore a black pants and a black Converse shoes and his hair was fine, like it had been cut. In fact, it had been cut. He had a haircut? His new hair style looked good on him and it even made him more desirable. I was sure he had a lot of girls running behind his back. He climbed in on the passenger seat whereas Eclair at the back seat. He had this frown plastered on his face and was being grumpy. Ezerette told me not to mind him so I didn't. I guessed the kid had been going through something. I began to drive to a place where we would meet Charlonne. He was the one who suggested the place and all. Charlonne said the place was good and had a beautiful sight and it was the nicest place to be a place for having a date. I trusted his words. Since he was a playboy, he had already brought thousand of girls in the place he was suggesting to us. The radio was turned on and it began playing 'Tear In My Heart' by Twenty One Pilots. Ezerette was bobbing his head up and down to the beat of the song whereas Eclair still had this frown on his face. He was in a bad mood, I guessed. We got to the place - it took us a complete half an hour to arrive at this place. The place really looked good and had a nice view of the town. In fact, it was a restaurant on a mountain that overlooked the city. The lights were turned on and from here, you could see the traffic jam. It was nice. The weather was nice; a bit cold. The air was fresh and surprisingly, the place didn't have a lot of people. Eclair, Ezerette and I headed inside the restaurant. We were greeted by Charlonne who was smiling at us. His eyes gazed over my shoulder and was looking at Eclair intently. When I turned my head to look over my shoulder, Eclair was just looking around the room. Going back, Charlonne was still staring at him and I clapped my hands loudly. He jumped slightly. "Sorry," he had said, then his eyes went to Ezerette's direction and he grinned. "It's nice meeting you, Ezerette." Charlonne offered his hand and Ezerette gladly shook it. "And you are..." Ezerette said. "Charlonne," Charlonne said simply, smiling at Ezerette. "I'm Heid's best friend. And this is..." "Oh, that's Eclair," Ezerette informed him. Eclair looked at Ezerette then to Charlonne. Then went back to Ezerette. "My little brother." "Okay..." Charlonne said, still staring at Eclair. "Nice meeting you, Clair." "Clair?" Eclair asked him, furrowing his brows. "It's Eclair." "I know. Clair sounds good..." Eclair looked up at the ceiling, putting his fingers underneath his chin, thinking if it did really sound good. He nodded. "Clair sounds cool," "Then I shall call you Clair, Clair" After the exchange of names, Ezerette and I went over to a table whereas Eclair and Charlonne decided to roam around the place. Now we were alone, it was quiet and kind of awkward. What usually happens on a date? I could feel that this date was going to be a disaster but I chose to think positive. It was okay to have an awkward silence on a first date, right? It happens to everybody, I thought. Ezerette gulped rather loudly and tried to mask it with a cough. I picked up the menu and handed him one. Together, we checked the food and found out that everything seemed so tasty and delicious. Ezerette and I pointed out foods on the menu, arguing a little what's tastier than the other. We waited a complete 15 minutes just by arguing and in the end, we ordered grilled chickens and large fries. Although the fries were different, Charlonne told me that this restaurant had a unique recipes. So every food here was delicious. In fact, he was the one to suggest to order a fries. While we waited for our food, Ezerette and I's eyes connected for a moment and I felt something tugged in my chest that made me put my palm on it. Then it began to beat rapidly as Ezerette's eyes became unreadable. He gulped and looked away, massaging his chest with his palm. He felt it, too, didn't he? I took a seat beside him and he scooted a little away from me. It just made me scoot closer and i put my palm on his chest, putting it on top of his hand. Then I found out something: His heart beat was with the same rhythm as mine, which made us both freeze and looked, once again, with each other's eyes. But this time, when I looked into his eyes, it was filled with happiness.
