Let Me Game In Peace

Chapter 3

Sean thought about Bean's offer, he doesn't know whether he can trust him or not but he thinks in this apocalypse world it will be better for someone to be alone. More numbers will attract devils

"No. I can't go with you to your hiding place, it will only attract devils, it's better we separate"

"If that's what you want"

Bean went out of the building leaving Sean with the little girl's corpse. Sean buried the corpse under the broken bricks. When he was going out of the building he heard the sound of footsteps running to the building. He retreated back inside and hid in a corner holding his dagger and listen carefully to what the intruders were saying

"Haha, see what we have here. It's an harmless lady"

The voice of a man sounded with clear excitement accompanied by a cruel laugh

The voice became clearer and the two people were coming closer to Sean.

Sean hid behind the entrance door and pin himself to the wall, he is peeping through a hole in the door. He saw a lady fall down, the lady was crawling on the floor trying to move away from her pursuer. The pursuer entered, Sean only saw his back but he looks familiar.

The lady kept retreating till her back touched the wall, she can go nowhere else.

"You think you can run away?"

The male voice sounded again

The lady was looking around the whole building in search of anything she can you to fight this man but what she saw in the feet of a man behind the door. Sean saw that the lady saw him so he signaled to her if he should help her bit the lady said nothing. She is only staring at the man before her who had a g*n with him

"Bring out all you've got on you"

The make voice ordered but the lady is adamant. She kept staring at the robber before her with hatred in her eyes. The robber looked at her again and she doesn't look like she have anything valuable on her.

"Since you have nothing valuable with you, how about you give me the one you've always have"

The robber started harassing the lady sexually. Sean got irritated by this , he silently came out out of his hiding place, the robber is already intoxicated with what he is doing so he didn't notice someone coming to him.

When Sean was close enough to the robber, he strike the robber at his back.

"Aarrgh"

The robber grunt as he jeered out of his f*****g position. Sean double check the robber's face, turns out the robber is Bean that he met earlier. Bean stared at Sean with his red eyes, he raised his g*n and hit the bottom on Sean's head. Sean laid down in painwl wrapping his hands around his head.

The lady that was being robbed stood up immediately and punch Bean on his face, Bean fell to the ground and the lady ran out of the building. Sean took the advantage and ran out of the building but Bean caught his leg. Bean punched Sean on his face bit Sean evaded the attack, Sean strike Bean with his dagger and was suprised that Bean only screamed in pain, Bean turned to Sean and punch him. Sean was unable to evede it so he fell to the ground.

Bean sat on sran releasing punches to his face, Sean was screaming in pain bit he noticed something; Bean was distracted.

Sean took the opportunity and strike Bean's back but the dagger stopped half way. Sean was wondering why the dagger stopped moving then he realized that he struck a bone. Sean pulled out the dagger and strike Bean's neck. Blood gushed out of Bean's neck and hit Sean's face. The blood was hot and Sean wiped it with his cloth

[Your target is dead]

When Sean recieved the notification he stood up and went out of the building. He can't believe he just killed a man, his hands were shaking and his heart pumping at the thought of him taking someone's life. He calmed himself down saying "it's just a game, it's an NPC not human"

Ding!

Sean was breathing heavily when he heard notification sound, he opened his status window

[Acquired Skill: Sharp Weapon (Dagger) (Basic)

Sean saw his first skill, he is not an harmless player anymore

Sean was suprised about how he got the skill so he checked the other notifications

[Striking: Inflict zero damage to the opponent]

[Continous Stabbing: Inflict Continous Damage of 10 per stab, Opponent is dead; You killed a devil]

[Striking: Inflict 10 damage to opponent]

[Hitting: Your opponent hit you, Inflict 5 damage to your HP. Causes bleeding…]

[Striking: Inflict 20 damage to the opponent]

[Punching: Inflict 5 damage to your HP]

[Continous Punching: Inflict 30 damage to your HP]

[Stabbing: Inflict 60 damage to opponent]

[Target is dead, You killed a human]

[To recover HP, you have to eat and rest]

[You killed two beings using dagger, Skill Earned]

[Sharp Weapon: Dagger ( Basic)]

When Sean got out of the building he saw the lady she saved. He is grateful he didn't follow Bean to his so called hideout

Who knew he is a robber

"Hey, why is that guy after you?"

Sean called out to the lady

"He is a robber, the devil tribulation have made lots of people turn evil. You look like a stranger?"

"Yes, I am"

"For people to survive this days is a very difficult thing, you did a great job there, probably the first time you kill"

"I have killed a devil earlier today"

The lady was suprised that Sean is bold enough to kill a devil, the best thing to do is get closer to him

"My name is Lyla, what's yours?"

"Sean"

"Sean, I guess you have no safe place to stay "

"I don't think there is anywhere safe in thus city"

"Obviously there is not but people that survive till this day , we have collapsed building that we live in. You can come with me?"

Sean thinks of Bean, he doesn't know if this lady before him is just like Bean but he knew of he doesn't eat and rest, his HP might keep depleting especially when he received the notification

[Bleeding: Your HP decrease by 0.2 per second]

[HP remains: 58]

[Stamina Remains: 92]

"The hardest thing to find in this city is food, that is why people started stealing from each other"

"Take me to your hideout, I hope you have enough food for both of us"

"I do have food that can feed us for a month, after that we will have to fight for food"

"We can run out if the city, go somewhere else "

"Yeah some people tried that already but rumors had it that there are dragons on the way out of the city"

"Dragons?"

"Song village was formed after the devil tribulation but the dragons are attacking them making us stuck to the city"

Lyla paused for a while and continue

"The village is safer than the city, there are magic warriors in the village "

"We can steal our way to the village"

"Hmph, at the cost of our lives. Am not really interested in risking my life"

"So what will you do, steal when your good finished?"

"We do what we have to do to survive. Let's get to my hide out first"

After going through some destroyed streets in the City, Lyla l entered a building. Inside the building the building there is an underground covered by planks of the collapsed building, Lyla removed all planks and entered into the underground and Sean followed

Finally, Sean felt safe for the first time since he's been in this game. There is a place that they are in, Sean looked around and realised it has lots of dirt in it. After a little clearing work on the underground hideout, Sean felt tired.

Lyla still had her guard up, listening carefully and inspecting their surroundings, after making sure that there was no intruder, she stopped and settled down. She stole glances at Sean and asked him

"You did a great job out there, what were you doing before the devil came?"

"I… uhm…I was a wrestler"

"Wrestler? You don't look like one"

Lyla looked at Sean all over again and confirmed that he just looked like a normal man. Except for his tough skin and a few bruises that he's got on his body which he got through labour, he's just a normal man.

"Yeah, I just started training and I never won a fight against my colleagues"

In this underground hideout, there is only one bed and one sofa which clearly Lyla must have seen in the building before moving them to the underground.

Lyla remade the bed and sat on it. Although it's still dirty, it's a little cleaner than it was.

"The best way to keep devils away is dirts and dusts, they attack any places found clean"

Lyla's eyes never left Sean and Sean notice that. It make him feel awkward and he made sure while sitting down, he never made eye contact with Lyla.

Lyla, although was the one who volunteered to bring Sean to her hideout, she is getting suspicious for some reason.

Sean tried his best in neglecting her but she soon stopped him

"I'm sorry, I do suspect anybody I brought to my hideout. You are not the first, some of those I've brought here, they steal my food and weapon and run away, some died. So I can't let down my guard no matter who's with me"

"I understand you, that's the best way to be safe in this apocalypse. The guy who was robbing you, I've met him earlier today, he offered me his home but I didn't trust him so I stayed in that building"

"The point is, I can only let you spend the night here with me and I'll feed you and treat you but you'll have to leave before nightfall tomorrow "

"Thank you"

Sean wasn't looking for a safe abode either. He just needed to kill a devil general and he was done with this. Although he wanted more information about this world from Lyla, he felt like this was not the right time.

Although this was a game, the NPCs seem to have the mind of a man. If Sean make any suspicious move or says anything out of the world, the aftermath won't be good.

Lyla gave Sean a box of medicine to treat himself which he took. While applying medication on himself, Lyla went to another corner of the room and cleaned up herself and her bruises.

When Sean finished applying medication on himself, he tested on the sofa, feeling very tired. He shut his eyelid as darkness filled his vision and with every breath he took, he recovered his stamina, and he had some rest.

He was mentally tired though

His brain has seen and done things that he never thought would do in his whole life; he killed his first man today.

Right, it was an NPC but it felt so real, especially when there are blood stains on his hands and clothes.

His head aches as he is remembering those awful things and it takes him a while before he can fall asleep.
