I slowly opened my eyes to adapt to the bright light. A feminine figure stood in front of me, I was almost shocked to death.
“You scared me Maria” I said making a sign of relief.
“I’m sorry my lady” Maria replied with a smile.
I looked round the whole room like I was searching for something. How did I get on the bed and where is lord Akira? I had remembered going to sleep on the couch last night.
“Lord Akira has gone out for some business, my lady” Maria said like she could read my mind.
“I wasn’t looking for him...I was just...” I wanted to deny it. Of course it would look awkward if I admitted it after everyone thinks I actually spent the night with him.
“It’s nothing to be shy about my lady” Maria said with a smile.
What could she be thinking? That smile...she thinks I spent the night with lord Akira, do I tell her that nothing happened?
“I’ll prepare you a warm bath my lady before going to get you breakfast, is that ok by you my lady?” Maria asked.
I just nodded in reply. She turned towards the door and exits the room.
I was all alone in the room when an idea hit me. Lord Akira wasn’t around, this is a better opportunity for my escape,I’ll run to somewhere no one knows anything about me.
Come to think of it, the people I risked everything to save, my kingdom, my family watched me die each time, no one came to my aid.
Maybe I should start thinking about myself. But how do I get out of here?
I quickly stood up and rushed towards the window.
The walls round the kingdom was so high that one could barely see outside and the gates was always guarded by soldiers, how can one possibly get away from here?
I remembered always getting caught every time I tried to run. I can’t risk getting caught this time, lord Akira isn’t as merciful as lord Adrian.
Maria has been working here for a while now and I’m sure she’ll know a way to get out of here but I didn’t want to put her into trouble.
Suddenly the door opened and Maria walked in.
“My lady, your bath is ready” she said with a smile.
“Oh, ok” I gave a short reply.
I was about going into the bathroom when I turned back
“Maria, when did you say lord Akira would be coming back from where he went to?” I asked.
“No need to worry my lady, he’ll be back in two or three days, lord Akira doesn’t stay long outside the walls” Maria replied.
“While waiting for lord Akira you could take a stroll round the town as long as you don’t go outside the walls” she added.
“Thanks a lot Maria, that would help” I replied.
This is a good way to start, by knowing my way around this place I could sketch an escape plan.
A smile creeped on my face.
