That bastard isn’t alone.I ran to the walk-in closet and quietly shut the door. Moments later, the bedroom door opens. What is he doing here? I walk over to the wall where Adam’s shoes are stacked. I carefully remove the pair closest to the door and slide open the panel to reveal the bedroom. It was a brilliant idea that they made this a panic room. A perfect window to see… Adam and his assistant?! Outside the door, I heard them talking.
“Do you believe me now?” Adam asked.
“What are you planning on doing with this?” Tatiana asked, wondrously.
“I might donate her clothes but the jewelry and decorations are all yours babe.” He wrapped an arm around Tatiana’s waist and pulled her towards him. “Anything you want, it’s yours.”
Her eyes light up. “I can pick ANYTHING?”
“Anything. She had some pretty valuable things.”
“Adam, are you sure this is okay?”
“She’s dead, sweetheart.” Adam reaches up to brush his fingers against her cheek. “We don’t have to hide how we feel anymore.”
“I…” A conflicted look crosses over her face, and she pushes him away. He glares at her but quickly looks at her in concern.
“What is it?”
“You promised we would talk. You can’t keep f*****g me to avoid this conversation, Adam.”
“You’re just so beautiful. It’s hard to keep my hands off of you.”
“Oh, Adam.” They were making out right in front of me.
Man w***e! But s**t, what if they come to the closet?! He promised her my finest clothes meaning my dresses. I look at many things he hasn’t packed yet. I refused to let his mistress wear my favorite dress! I changed into one of my finest dresses and smiled. Much better! I went back to the window and peered into the bedroom.
“I want to be with you Adam, I really do, but I need answers. Why does your entire campaign revolve around her death, especially when you said you didn’t even feel bad. Are you using her just for popularity?”
His face hardens. “Are you asking if I’m sad about her death, Tatiana?”
“I’m sorry, Adam. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked you so directly, but it’s been bothering me so much. I can’t keep ignoring it when it’s happening in front of me.”
“I’m not blaming you for your concern.” He walks over to the bed and sits down with her head in his hands. “I thought you would understand.”
She quickly walked over to him and got on her knees before looking up at him. She pulls his hands away from her face and grips them tightly in hers. “I do! You know how I feel about you. I just want you to let me in, please trust me.”
“I guess I’ve been keeping secrets. My wife and I had a very private life. No one knew what happened behind closed doors. Our love turned to s**t at some point. As I’ve told you before, she was a huge drinker and took her anger out on me.”
She gasped. “She abused you?”
“Not always, sometimes though. But it was enough for for me to realize our marriage was falling apart. The first three years were great but got worse past that point.”
“She hit you?! What a b***h!”
“I’ve never laid my hands on a woman. Ever.”
Yeah f*****g right. I thought to myself.
“She always said the divorce would badly reflect on my campaign. She didn’t work and always wanted handouts from me.”
“Wow! How dare she!”
“I cared for her a lot. She was my first love.”
“She manipulated you!”
“She did, but I also saw it for what it was.”
“Adam…” She kissed him lightly. “I had no idea it was that bad.”
“It’s embarrassing. It’s not often you hear a wife hitting her own husband.”
“I’m so sorry, Adam.”
“I was miserable until you came into my life.”
Tatiana’s face softened. “I knew I had to have you when you asked for a job. You looked so beautiful.”
She gave him a sad smile. “I felt like I was ruining your relationship with her when we first slept together.”
“Fate brought you and I together. I’m not tied down to a loveless marriage now that she’s finally dead.”
He was loveless! Not me!
“I never should have questioned you, Adam. It was wrong of me to think bad of you.”
“I can understand. I was hoping she was happy instead of rotting in a morgue.”
“I hate seeing you so sad. How can I help?”
“To hell with it. Marry me?”
“What?”
“Now that she’s gone, we don’t have to hide our feelings anymore.”
“Oh!”
He smiled. “So?”
“Yes! I love you! I can’t wait to tell my family!”
“You misunderstood me.”
“What?”
“We can’t go public yet.”
“Why?”
“We have to wait a few months to settle down as much as I want to tell the world you’re all mine.”
“You want us to keep our relationship a secret?”
“If circumstances weren’t like this then no, but for now, yes.”
“Alright. Are you sure you aren’t doing this to gain sympathy for the elections? If you simply explained that your relationship with her was over a long time ago, I think they’d…”
He doesn’t allow her to finish the sentence. Shutting her up with a kiss, they tumbled against the bed and I watched in horror as he f****d her.
I can’t believe him! Such an asshole he is! He’s f*****g his secretary in my bed after talking about my death accusing ME of abuse!
As he finished, he made the strangest face.
“Babe, that was amazing.”
“It was fine. Now, get up and get dressed. I have a lot of s**t to do so leave.”
“Y-you want me to leave?”
“Yes.”
“I can keep you company.”
“Get out of my house, Tatiana.” He left the room and heads to his office.
She watched him with shock. The hurt is written clearly on her face, but she obeys him. After fixing her hair and analyzing herself, she shut the door behind her.
He’s feeding her lines of bullshit like he did to me for years! The poor girl is falling for it like I did. He’s just using her. I quietly opened the door and peered out. I didn’t hear any movement. Before I could walk out, a pair of heels sounded from the hallways, towards the bedroom. I ran back into the closet as quietly and quickly as possible.
A moment later, the door opens. I peer through the window and see Tatiana walk back into the room. She searched the room to find her scarf and just as she got it, we both heard Adam’s voice coming down from the hall.
His laugh is loud, making Tatiana peak around the door.
He must be on the phone.
Adam: “No, no, you don’t have to do that. But I will tell you that last night was better than I expected.”
The tone of voice he’s using makes me cringe in disgust, and Tatiana looked confused but still listens.
Adam: “Who knew Olivia Banks wasn’t just the Queen of Gossip, but the queen of other things as well.” He laughs again. “You have no idea how much I enjoyed the surprise last night. The things you can do with that sexy mouth of yours.”
Resisting the urge to gag, I see his assistant’s face turn into pain as she realizes what’s happening.
Adam: “A repeat? Beautiful, you read my mind. How does tonight sound?”
His assistant to my shock screams, nearly making me trip over a pair of shoes on the floor.
“ADAM!” She slams her purse into the door and screams again.
He storms into the room and she stumbles back, her face angry. “I have to call you back.” He hangs up and grabs her shoulders, pushing her hard into the door.
“How could you!”
“I don’t know what you think you heard..”
“You told me you had an important meeting you had to go to tonight!”
Adam’s hands wrap around her throat, shutting her up.
“Let go of me!” She shoves him away and storms down the steps, slamming the door shut.
Holy s**t. Who the hell was I married to? As the house goes completely silent, I go down the hallway and walk down the stairs. As I run for the door, I bump into Adam.
“Charlotte?” The shock in his voice is completely clear.
“Hey.”
He kissed me and smiled. “What are you doing here, beautiful?”
“I needed to clear some things up with you.”
“Like?”
“WHY DID YOU FAKE MY DEATH!”
He raised his eyebrows. “To keep the press from bothering me.”
I looked at him with anger. “HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR OWN f*****g WIFE!”
He shrugged. “Makes my life easier.”
“f**k you.”
I saw him get something out of his open briefcase. “What are you…”
He lifted a gun and pointed it at her head. “Please don’t Adam, please…”
“Guess Garcia wasn’t that good of a bodyguard, eh?”
“Please, I love y…” Without listening, he fired the gun.
