Chapter 13: The Search Continues

(What could Sadie have discovered that he didn’t want to discuss through the link.) Daniel thought to himself as he walked down the flight of stares into the hospital basement, where Sadie’s lab was located. “Sadie, I’m told you made a discovery amongst the materials you were brought.” “Yes, Alpha but I fear it is not news you would want to hear.” “What is it?” “Without fabric that was used to make Rose’s gown from Madam Tarriza, I can’t match the material to her. However, I found a sample of dried blood on the material. When I ran it through my system it came back a perfect match to Roselin.” “There was blood on the material?” “I’m afraid so, Alpha, but judging by the small amount I believe it safe to say that it came from a minor injury.” Thank you, Sadie. I appreciate the work you do, and how quickly you were able to find proof of the material belonging to Roselin. David, Billy head home and rest. I want both of you in my office by eight tomorrow morning. I will be spending the rest of my evening in my quarters with Meridah, I’m afraid she’s still not handling Rose’s kidnapping well.” “Yes, Alpha.” The men spoke in union as they parted ways.             Daniel sat beside his sleeping mate, how he wished he could take away her pain. These days the only thing that brought her any peace, was the meds that put her to sleep. He sighed knowing that he himself would not find sleep tonight. He slid from the covers and headed to his office. Once in the safety of his office with the door locked, he walked over to the safe punching in the code and removing the files. He shuffled to the last reports:                                                                                                                                       June 14, 2018 By the power of the higher court and the conviction enforced by Alpha Zion and the Elders of the Lycan race. The following wolves are to be exiled and deemed rouge by reason of treason against the Full Moon Pack. Johnathan of Full Moon: Born October 12, 1999, His wolf awoken on October 12, 2015. Johnathon and his wolf Greyson have served as warriors working as patrol. On June 6, 2018, Johnathon led a group of wolves claiming to be a New Order who would no longer be “blindly lead” by an unworthy leader of the Goddess. His exile will go into effect immediately. Susan of Full Moon: Born January 21, 1996, Her wolf awoken on January 12, 2012. Susan and her wolf Eleanor have served as Omega in the packhouse kitchen. On June 6, 2018, Susan declared her loyalty to the “New Order denouncing Alpha Zion, as her Alpha and Leader. Her Exile will go into effect immediately. Darren of Full Moon: Born May 30, 1998, His wolf awoken on May 30, 2014. Darren and His wolf Demetri have served as warriors working on patrol. On June 6, 2018, Darren declared his loyalty to the “New Order denouncing Alpha Zion, as his Alpha and Leader. His Exile will go into effect immediately. On June 6, 2018, the following wolves joined Johnathon, Susan, and Darren in denouncing Alpha Zion as their leader and Alpha claiming loyalty to the “New Order”. All six wolves were forewarned what the verdict would be if they followed the three in suit, but still chose to leave with them. All six are to be exiled and deemed rouge as follows: Janice, Christopher, Taylor, David, Holly, Stephan, and Jalisa all of the Full Moon Pack. By decision of the Elders of the Lycan, since the wolves involved all belonged to Full Moon, leaving them to believe the situation to be contained. No further investigation is needed. No reports shall be copied and sent to any other packs.   Daniel stared at the final report in disbelief. (How could they have been so reckless with these cases. Why were these events practically swept under the rug?) He neatly placed the files back in their place and locked them away in his safe. He sat back down with pen and paper and begin writing out notes and pinpointing where he believed further investigation was needed. All of these cases could have something to do with what was going on now, and then again it was possible that none of them did. Ether way he would look into them, he wanted to leave no stone unturned in finding his daughter and putting an end to this madness.             It was the wee hours of the morning; Daniel still sat his desk jotting away at about the information he had learned. A familiar knock jerked him from his writing, his eyes wide and alert. (Why would the Elders visit him at this hour, when they have remained silent since the attack.) He slowly stood to open the locked door. Unsurprisingly, when he opened the door, he found the five Elders standing on the other side. “Come in,” he spoke slightly bowing his head as he stepped to the side allowing them to enter. “How are you and Meridah coping,” one of them spoke as Daniel closed the door returning to his seat. “I’m hanging in there, the search itself keeps me leveled. Meridah on the other hand, I’m afraid isn’t dealing with the circumstances all that well.” “It is to be expected from the Mother of a child.” “Yes, it is but something tells me mine and my mate’s wellbeing is not what this visit is about.” “Always a wise man, you have been. A great leader like your father. Our purpose for visiting you this morning is because we want you to cease your searches.” “Excuse me.” “Daniel, you have to understand, while our condolences go out to you and Meridah. This is simply the way things are to be. It is all part of her divine plan.” “I have followed you and the Goddess without question, putting my faith above my family and this pack. That ends today, I will not end the search. I will find my daughter and I will kill all who are involved.” “If you proceed with this matter, you will only be the cause of you and your pack’s on demise.” “My daughter is not a toy for you or the Goddess to play with. Now get out!” “Very well, we only hope that you will come to your senses before it is too late. But be it known; it is useless for you to seek the aide of any of the other packs. They have been ordered to stand down in this matter.” The five Elders filed out of the office, leaving Daniel to fall in a fit of rage. He roared as he flipped his desk, (How dare they try to order him to abandon his daughter.)             David walked into the office observing the broken desk, “Dude, I know your stressed but ripping this place apart isn’t going to solve anything.” “The Elders were here,” Daniel spoke as he picked up the pieces of broken wood to trash.  “I haven’t heard anything from them since the night of the attacks. What did they want?” “They want us to stop the search.” “You can’t actually be serious.” “I’m dead serious.” “What did you say?” “I told them no, that I’m done playing their game.” “I bet they didn’t take that well, did they.” “No, no they didn’t. They said if we proceed not to contact the other packs. The Elders have already ordered them to stand down.” “So, what’s the plan?” “We’re going to get my daughter back and kill every bastard involved.” “Sounds like we’ve got some work to do.” “Where the hell is Billy?” “You know how he is, Daniel. Dude was probably late for his own wedding.”             “Didn’t your mother ever teach you its rude to speak of the dead.” Billy spoke as he walked into the office. “It’s too early for you to be so sensitive, just because someone took a jab at you doesn’t mean they were speaking of your late wife.” “Both of you shut up! We’ve got work to do.” Daniel snapped hushing both of them.  “Now my office is of no use at the moment, I’m going to gather up a few things and I’ll meet ya’ll in Meridah’s office. David, tell Lilly and Diane to meet us there as well. I want to discuss matters at hand with all of you.” “Yes Alpha,” they spoke in union as they left for Meridah’s office. Daniel picked up the remaining pieces of his desk throwing them in the bin. He looked around his office taking in the damage, (I seriously have to learn better control.) He grabbed the files from the safe, and his notes locking the office behind him.             “I know the fact things have gotten worst is the last thing yall would want to hear at the moment,” Daniel spoke as the five sat at the round table in Meridah’s office. “Unfortunately, that’s just what has happened. Today the Elders visited me in my office requesting I end my search. More so on the demanding side to be truthful. Now, with everything that has happened and the mere fact that my daughter is out there, that’s not something I can or am willing to do. I know this will make matters more stressful for you all. I need to know that I have your support.” “You know I’ve got your back,” David spoke. “My loyalty lays with you and Meridah,” spoke Diane. “I stand by my husband and this pack. My loyalty to Meridah and you.” Lilly spoke with pride. “I owe you my life, I’m with you until the end.” Billy spoke lastly. “Good, lets continue.”             Daniel placed the file and his notes in front of him. Just as he was about to begin speaking, they were interrupted by a knock on the door. The five Lycans looked at one another puzzled. David was the first to stand, moving towards the door. He opened it slightly to find the ground floor Omega. “Beta,” she spoke slightly bowing her head. “Queenie, we’re in the middle of a meeting, is there something important?” “My apologies sir, but Alpha Zion and Alpha Mason are here to see Alpha Daniel. “Send them in, Queenie.” Daniel called over David’s shoulder. A few moments later Zion his and his Beta Samuel, Mason and his Beta Zachary walked into the office. “Gentlemen, after my visitors this morning I am even more surprised by this sudden visit.” “The same that visited you, visited us a week ago. It would appear to me that the Elders have forgotten who we are. We are Lycans, not some household dog to be ordered around.” Zion spoke a glisten in his eye. “Daniel, you should have reached out to me as soon as your troubles began,” Mason spoke. “My pack is at your services.” “As is mine.” “While I appreciate the both of you coming. You do understand going against the Elders could be seen as treason. We could be going to war with more than who is responsible with the woes of my pack.” “The times for the Lycan race have grown tame and boring my friend. A little action does the soul good.” Zion spoke with a smirk. Mason looked Daniel directly in the eye, “How can we call ourselves leaders if we do not help protect our own.” “If your absolutely sure, then Gentlemen have a seat. We were just about to begin.” The four wolves joined them at the table, allowing Daniel to return to his notes.             “I have reviewed all the files that you gave me Zi, and I believe there may be a connection.” “Daniel, before you continue, I believe I have information of my own I should provide you with.” Mason interrupted pulling a file from his shoulder bag and handing it across the table to Daniel. Daniel flipped over the file scanning the reports:                                                 Missing Lycan             Jan. 4, 2020, patrol discovered three Lycans to have vanished sometime during a change of shift. After an extensive search patrol was unable to find any evidence of force or foul play. It is at this time believed the Lycans left on their own free will. Elders have deemed the three wolves to have gone Rogue and to be exiled.                                                 Murder and Missing             Jan. 9, 2020, patrol was alerted to the sound of a struggle at the home Lyle, Janet, And Anna of the pack shortly after midnight. Due to the knowledge that it was Anna’s sixteenth birthday, and her wolf should have just awoken. Patrol made the call to approach the home using caution in case she was rabid. When they arrived in the home, they discovered Lyle and Janet to have been attacked so viciously that their wolves were unable to keep up with the amount of blood loss. Both were declared dead upon arrival. Anna was found to be missing. Patrol followed her scent to the Eastern border where it was if she had simply vanished. The scent ended in a dead end at the wood line. Elders have deemed Anna rabid and Rogue. If she is to return to the territory she is to be executed on sight.   There were four more reports similar to the first two. “Why have I never heard of this?” “We were ordered by the Elders not to speak of it with other packs. They referred to it as strictly Crescent Moon business.”             “Now Daniel I understand that it is highly plausible that they are connected, given we have all experienced disappearances and death. My only question is what is your belief on how they are connected.” “I believe there are numerous factors at hand, but a common core. One of the first disappearances was Atila’s brother Charles. We all know Atila conspired with a witch, she was even discovered to be living and working for one when she was banished. Then all of a sudden she disappeared never to be seen or heard from again.” “What are you suggesting?” “We always presumed her dead and gave it no other thought. What if she’s not dead, but instead her and her brother have sought refuge with other supernatural beings. If I’m correct than this “New Order” and the disappearance of wolves is her way of building an army to seek revenge for the death of her wolf.” “While that makes sense on the Lycan part. Why would any supernatural help them in doing so?” Billy spoke looking down at the table. “I’m afraid that’s where Roselin comes in.”             “What do you mean that’s where Roselin comes in,” a sharp voice spoke from the door. “Meridah, my dear should be in bed resting.” Daniel spoke as he rushed to his mate’s side. “No, I’ve laid in that bed feeling sorry for myself long enough. I want to know why my daughter was taken, Daniel. I believe you know; I believe you’ve known this entire time.” She spoke pulling away from him. “Meridah, now is not the time for this.” He spoke calm and softly. Ignoring him Meridah walked over to the table taking a seat between Lilly and Diane. “I am the Luna of this pack; therefore, I believe it is my right to be present during this meeting,” she spoke firmly addressing Daniel more than anyone. Defeated and not wanting to cause a scene or even more chaos he returned to his seat. He had been carrying this secret for the last eleven years. It was time he came clean.         “The Elders believe Roselin to be the reborn Queen that legend tells the Goddess to have promised at the end of the Great War. They spoke of prophecies and visions provided to them by the Goddess. They believed Abel to be her mate. When the two were five the Elders gave the two of them and everyone in the pack but me a potion to forget how Abel came to be. Rose and Abel’s potion caused them to forget each other completely. While the pack’s caused them to believe Abel was born into the pack. The truth is Rose found Abel in the woods the summer before kindergarten, immediately they were inseparable. Since he was an orphan, I placed him with a couple who was struggling to have a pup. Then they found each other in the fourth grade and once again became inseparable. The Elders required constant updates of the two of them. Then the closer it got to Rose coming of age, they started insisting she have a ceremony. They said all would be revealed when the clock struck midnight on her sixteenth birthday. I believe that it is possible that the warlocks/witches or elves may have been aware of this as well.”         The table was silent, Meridah stood leaving Daniel to believe she was going to leave due to be angered or overwhelmed by the information he had just provided. He was confused when she began to walk around the table towards him. She walked around the table coming to a stop beside him. When he turned to look up at her, he was shocked to find his left cheek stinging from where her hand made contact. After slapping him she returned to her seat like nothing had happened. None of the other eight Lycans that sat at the table dared speak a word. “I deserved that,” Daniel spoke while rubbing his still stinging cheek. “You deserve a lot more, but right now I am more concern in finding and bringing my daughter home.” Meridah retorted crossing her arms over her chest.         “As you all are aware I sent out ten troops to search for my daughter while I travelled to speak with other Alphas. After I left Zi and was in route to speak with Mason one of the troops called stating they had found evidence linking to Rose just shy of Elven territory. I ordered the troop to return immediately with their findings, sending another troop for observation. The evidence they found was proven to contain Roselin’s DNA. The troop currently stationed in the area has reported both Lycan and Elven present.” “Then what are we waiting for,” Mason interrupted, “you have proof. Now is the time to declare war.” The rest spoke in agreement. Daniel held his hand up to silence everyone, “It’s not that simple our warriors combined would not be enough to take on the Elves let alone anyone else they have fighting with them. We need to train everyone of age. Now I have purchased another fifty-by-fifty-mile plot of land connected to my Northern border. It was with intention to split my pack up amongst my sons into two packs for them both to lead. With the combined land, I am able to house both your packs if you truly wish to go in battle together.” “I can have my people here within the month,” Zion spoke leaning back in his chair. “I the same,” Mason spoke. “Then it’s settled. We’ll meet back in a month to discuss plans for battle training when you arrive with your packs.” “Agreed,” the two spoke in union as they stood to leave.         Daniel could feel Meridah’s glare, but he didn’t have time to quarrel with her at the moment. He had to prepare the land to house three thousand or so more Lycans.  Thankfully, the land he had purchased already had a large building on it that just needed to be cleaned up. The building could hold roughly a thousand or more. He would need his pack to come together to build more accommodations.
