chapter 3
3 years later.
I growl lowly as I watch the other rogue walk closer to me. He lowers himself to the ground and I follow suit.
Both of them lunge at me and I move to the side, leaving them to knock into each other.
I turn and swipe my paw across the dirty brown rouge, my nails tearing his flesh. The smell of blood meets my nose and I smile.. Mentally that is.
The black one charges towards me and jumps. I duck right before his teeth meet my neck, sending him crashing into the tree behind me.
I moved back to the other rogue who looks like he isn't healing. I clamp my jaws down on his neck and shake the life out of him.
I drop him and turn back to face the other rogue. Fear leaks from his pores but he doesn't give up, powered by adrenaline.
He bites down on my shoulder and I run him into another tree. His grip loosens but he immediately bites back down.
I growl, using extra strength that I have gained over the years to shake him off of me. We circle each other, growling, waiting for the other to attack.
He gets impatient and runs toward me. He jumps off the ground and I go for his neck. He realizes his mistake too late and his eyes widen.. I bite down and shake, he squirms and I bite down harder. He finally stops shaking and I drop the limp rogue.
I step back and growl, waiting for anyone else to jump out at any moment.
When nothing comes I take off into a run, back to my camp.
Arriving there, I shift back from my white wolf. Now on two feet, I walk into the cave, where I sleep.
It has been 3 years. I'm 21 now. It was hard at first, learning how to be without a pack.
Having a pack that doesn't like you is better than not having a pack at all. My stomach growls, cutting me out of my thoughts. I get up from my pallet of fur skins, put on some shorts and a tank and make my way back outside the cave and to the stream.
I keep my meat tied down in the stream to keep its freshness, and so that other animals won't find it.
It takes me 30 minutes to fix myself stew, and the whole time, I'm trapped in my thoughts, with Ellie on high alert.
I tried to join packs, but they didn't want a rogue who got kicked out of the pack for no reason. It makes me seem unable to be trusted. So I had to learn how to survive out here.
I remember the first fight I got into.. my 2nd month out here alone. I walked into an Alpha rogues campsite. I don't know how I did, but I killed him. He was going to kill me, so I had no choice.
I am snapped back into reality by an unconscious growl coming from my lips.
Ellie..What's wrong?
I get up, looking around for danger. I inhale through my nose, looking for anything out of the ordinary. A low growl finds its way out of my mouth. Another rogue?
Ellie just growls in response. I take a few steps forward, waiting for it to show itself. The rogue that I am now identifying as a male, steps out from behind the tree 15 yards from me. He moves forward until He is about 20 feet in front of me.
We stare at each other for a couple of seconds before I break the silence. "Shift." I command
He makes a sound that sounds like a snort and I growl. "Shift!" I say with much more force and power that I didn't know I had behind it. It looks like he is fighting with his wolf, but he eventually shifts back. I maintain eye contact with him as he puts on his shorts that were tied around his leg. "What do you want? You don't smell rogue, why are you here?" I growl out between clenched teeth.
He studied me for a moment and then speaks so low that if it weren't for my wolf hearing I wouldn't have heard him. "I am not a rogue. I am here scouting for my Alpha. There have been more rogue sightings recently and he wants to know why they are so close to his land." He speaks with so much authority, but it doesn't scare me.
"I am not going to harm your pack, so piss off." I snap. He looks at me for a moment before his eyes go foggy in a mind link. They stay foggy for a minute or two before returning back to normal.
"He is on his way." He states simply and then takes a look around. "He?"
"My Alpha." I nod my head but other wise stay quiet. We stare at each other for a couple of more minutes and I finally get tired of looking at him. I turn around, getting ready to head back to my stew but he stops me with a growl. I growl turning back to face him.
"Don't growl at me." I growl out.
He growls again and walks forward. "Don't tell me what to do." he growled back coming to a stop in front of me. I growl and push at his chest.
That is how our fight started. He swung at my head, and I ducked, hitting him in his side.
Somehow we end up with me on top of him with my hands wrapped around his throat.
I growl in his face, tightening my hands. "Do. Not. EVER. Growl at me. Who do you think you are?" with every word, my grip became deathly tighter. He gives up on trying to get me off of him, and tries to get my hands off of his neck, which is now cutting off his air supply.
He is stronger than me.. so how am I overpowering him? it makes no sense.
I hear a loud growl from behind me followed by other not so powerful ones, but I pay no mind to it. I am pulled off of the guy whose name I have yet to know, and I am thrown into a tree. I am back up and I feel Ellie surfacing. I shake my head. Over the past few years we have been out here, she has become aggressive and unable for me to control. I drop to my knees pulling at my hair.
ELLIE NO! I scream at her. But she doesn't hear it. She wants out. She wants to kill whoever threw me into that tree.
"STOP IT, ELLIE" I scream out loud. A half groan and scream comes out of my lips as I fight for control.
"NO HE SHOULDN'T HAVE HIT US! I WILL f*****g KILL HIM." she yells back at me, also fighting for control. I feel something poking at my skin. Though my eyes are open I cannot see.
Ellie has the upper hand. Another pinch is felt at my skin but she doesn't even seem to notice. She stands and face the person poking her. He must be the Alpha. She jumps toward him but gets tackled to the ground from behind. Multiple people hold her down and more pinches are felt on my skin.
I feel my consciousness leaving me.
Right before everything fades black, I hear Ellie let out a loud growl that has the ground shaking.
