chapter18
Isabelle POV
My body jolts awake. It's earlier than I normally get up, but I guess that's fine. I need to get ready before training starts anyway. With a little effort, I disentangle my limbs from Austin and Sebastian to take a shower.
15 minutes later, I'm freshly clothed in a sports bra and short workout shorts. I am waking the twins up since it's currently five thirty-six.
"Argh..." They both moan, turning their backs to each other.
"Get up." I shake them harshly, but to no avail do they awake. Instead, they make more incoherent noises and I sigh.
A wolf got to do what a wolf got to do.
I quickly make my way to the kitchen and get a glass of freezing water before making my way back upstairs to the room. "Mama protect me.." I whisper to the Moon Goddess. I smile a devilish smile before dumping/tossing the freezing water over both of my mates. I watch as they both literally jump out of the bed, growls tearing from their throat.
I hold in my urge to laugh but my resolve of not doing so soon dissolves at the sight of them both. I let out a little chuckle, and both of their heads snapped over to me.
"Isabelle..." Austin speaks slowly. I quickly sober. It catches me off guard. He only ever calls me princess. "That wasn't nice.."
I shake my head, looking at Sebastian. He looks toward the clock on the table and makes his way into the bathroom. When he passes by me, he deposits a small kiss on my forehead, which I smile at. Sebastian doesn't seem to mind now that he knows why I did it.
"Yeah, Austin, baby it wasn't nice.." I bat my eyelashes and look at him innocently, "But in dire situations it requires dire solutions.." I tell him with a smile on my face.
He smirks and walks closer to me. My eyes are glued onto his stomach. I unconsciously bite my lip to stop a groan from falling through them.
"How.. appalling.. don't you think? To wake your mates up like that.. you could've scared us and we could've hurt you, princess." His voice drops with each sentence until it's nothing but a husky whisper.
I shake my head, clearing thoughts running through my head. "Y'all wouldn't have hurt me.." I mumble. I bring my hand up to his chest and I place it softly upon it. His skin is hot despite the freezing water I tossed on him earlier.
I lean forward and place a kiss on his beating heart. His heart beat becomes erratic after I've deposited the kiss on his chest. I smirk as his breathing picks up.
"Besides.." I drop my voice an octave lower. "I'm quite sure I can take you both on." I say with a wink before pushing him back and walking out of the room.
"Don't be late boys." I speak. I hear Sebastian laugh behind me and I can sense Austin's scowl.
It's slightly dark outside.. just enough light for me to see without needing Ellie. Speaking of..
Hey.. want out?
No thanks.. I'm kind of tired.
Woah, woah. I chuckle mentally. What did you do last night?
She snorts before putting up her block, retreating to the back of my mind. I shrug.
I stretch and decide on running around the pack house a couple of times. I've never realized it.. but it's actually huge. It doesn't stop me from running though.
I'm completing my 8th lap when I see pack members making their way outside. I decide on stopping seeming as though I have already ran so many laps around the huge pack house. I slow down into a walk until I stand directly in front of the growing crowd of people. Most of everyone is here. Liam sees me and walks forward.
He opens his mouth to address me but I cut him off before he can. "Liam, if you call me Luna I will kick your ass into next week."
He snorts trying to hide his smile. "Isabelle. I just wanted to say good morning to my Luna and ask if she was fine." I give him a look.
"Of course I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" I question. He gives me a look that I give Austin and Sebastian, as if I know the answer.
"From last night. A lot of things happened last night. I just want to see to it that you were okay. I don't want my Luna stressed, is all." He explains with a sincere expression painting his features. I smile at that.
"I am fine, Liam. I have a question." He looks at me expectantly. "Are you their Beta or something?"
I have honestly just realized that I haven't been introduced to a beta or gamma of this pack..
He pauses for a moment. "I would be considered so.. Alpha Austin and Sebastian are my best friends, Luna." He pauses and I ignore the fact that he called me Luna. "Whenever they aren't here, like on pack business or when they went to go see Luna Cassandra.. I take care of everything here. So I guess in a sense I am." He finishes.
I nod. I wait for a couple more minutes before asking for the time.
"6 on the dot, Lu- Isabelle." Liam informs me. I smile and look back to the crowd.
I close my eyes and release power into the air. Not enough to seem threatening, but enough to demand attention. The voices from the crowd die down into whispers and then to silence in a matter of seconds.
"Good Morning." I start off.
"Good morning, Luna." They echo. I raise an eyebrow but continue.
"I'm glad to see all of you made it on time. I hope you all had a good night and are ready to sweat." I chuckle. A few people chuckle while others smile.
"We're going to start off with simple stretches and to warm up I want everyone to complete two laps around the pack house; In human form. We are not going to train with our wolves today." Some look on with distress and it causes me to laugh.
I look out to the members of my pack, looking for objections. "Understood?"
"Yes, Luna." I nod and they all begin stretching.
Liam joins them in stretching and I watch. I look around through the people and Catch Sebastian's eyes. I look around for Austin but I don't see him.
I raise my eyebrow in question and he shrugs.
Hate to say it, but that's just going to be more work for him.
I clap my hands to get everyone's attention. "Okay, everyone!" They stop stretching and look at me. "I want all of you to run two laps around the pack house. You. Not your wolf or any of your wolf advantages. If I see anyone-" I cut my eyes through the crowd. "-not in human form or running human, you will have more work than anyone today. Understood?"
"Yes, Luna." I nod.
"Begin." I announce and they all turn and take off running. While most of everyone is finishing their first lap, Austin decides then to show up.
He walks closer to me but I hold up my hand. Fixing him with a glare, I all but growl at him. "You're late."
He looks taken all the way aback, but recovers with a smirk. "Princess-"
"4 laps." He looks at me with shock.
"W-what?"
"Everyone else had to run two, but seeing as though you are late, you will run four." He looks at me and goes to object. "I don't want to hear it Austin. I ran eight laps this morning in 15 minutes. I know you can run four."
"Princess, that isn't fair." he all but whines.
I shake my head with an innocent smile painting my features. "Alphas are never late. Therefore, it is absolutely fair, Alpha."
He growls. "Austin." He corrects me. I wave him off.
"Yeah, yeah. Get to running." Once he sees that I'm not going to back down he sighs reluctantly and begins running.
Everyone finishes before him and I make them watch.
"No walking, Austin!" I yell, when I see the slightest change in his pace. He glares at me as Sebastian and I snicker. Liam stands beside me with a smile on his face, but he doesn't dare laugh.
Sebastian and I begin to chant that he is almost there on his last lap. He sends us glares until he finishes and stops in front of us. Sebastian claps his shoulder but Austin shakes it off.
"Ah, come on, Aust." Sebastian begins to say but Austin isn't having it. I blow him a kiss and turn back to the pack members behind me.
They quiet at my gaze. "Alright! I need adults and teens to separate but also the women and men to separate. Teens can stay together." They start moving slowly, until I have three groups; Teens, male adults, and female adults.
"Thank you. Today, we are only going to practice on punches and kicks. Liam here will teach the adult women, Sebastian and Austin will switch places with the male adults, and I will train the teens. There will be three rotations before everyone ends with me. All clear?"
"Yes, Luna."
I nod. "Start."
'
Austin stands watching me help the teens. They actually defend themselves pretty well. Besides the occasional glances these hormonal teens keep sending my mate, everything is great.
I look over to Austin as he is watching a smaller girl. She looks to be the age of 16.
I watch her as well, my brows furrowing. "Who is that?" I question.
Austin shrugs. "Never noticed her till today. Normally most of the teens make themselves known.. She might be one of the few teens who have lost their parents a couple of months ago. Why?"
I shake my head. "I'm confused as to why she is alone at the moment. They should all be training together anyway."
Now that I say it aloud, she has been by herself the entire time. Some of the female teens, who have stopped training to huddle into a little group turn around and look at her. They watch her for a moment as she stretches before they turn back around and snicker. I find my feet moving before I can comprehend, straight to the girl standing by herself. The closer I get, the more I feel this pull to her.. Like a mother would a child. The need to protect her and claim her as mine is high.. but I manage to ignore it for the time being.
I stop right in front of her and she looks up at me. "L-Luna." She immediately bows her head. My brows furrow as I look down at her.
"What is your name?" I ask, paying no attention to her calling me by my title, though I don't want her to.
"A-Ana, ma'am. Anastasia Stone." She keeps her head down, her chin touching her chest.
"Look at me, Anastasia." I command softly. Hesitantly, she lifts her head and looks me in my eyes. "How old are you?"
She wastes no time in answering. "15, Luna.. I'll be 16 in September.."
I nod and smile. A September baby. "Why are you alone, Anastasia?"
"Please call me Ana.." She gently corrects. "Anastasia was my mother.. And I'm all by my lonesome because I have no friends, Luna."
"Call me anything but, Luna. You don't need to be affected by my presence.." I tell her as softly as I can. "Tell me, why don't you have friends, if I may ask?" I pause and look at her. "You seem very sweet and you're very pretty, pup."
She shakes and lowers her head sadly. "Other girls don't think so. They make up rumors about me causing others to look at me like I'm some disgusting animal." She says. Not bothering to think about her words, she continues. "Which in a way, I am some disgusting animal. My thighs are bigger than theirs, and I'm a spit fire when it comes to things I care about. I don't get it, Luna. I would never hurt her- intentionally that is. But she will hurt me every chance she gets.. whether it's pushing me down, or physically hitting me, she does it.."
She pauses and looks up at me. "Forgive me from rambling, I just- I get why they make fun of me. I'm pretty much nothi-"
Before I can stop her, Ellie breaks the surface. "DON'T SAY THAT ABOUT YOURSELF!" Ellie breathes in deeply. Ana shrinks back from Ellie, causing us both to whimper. I shake my head and try to push Ellie back. "My pup will not speak ill about herself, okay?" Ellie questions.
Ana nods her head vigorously and I think I see a ghost of a smile on her face along with a hint of happiness at Ellie calling her our pup. Pushing with all my might, I lock Ellie in the back of my mind. I wait a moment before speaking.
"I'm sorry, Ana.. I didn't mean to yell. I just don't like when you talk bad about yourself.. Ellie likes you." I explain. She nods and looks behind my shoulder at the group of girls. The group of girls still whispering..
"Are they the ones who spread rumors and say things about you?"
She avoids eye contact with me for a moment before mumbling out a small 'yes'. I think for a split second before grabbing her hand.
"Come." I led her to the front of the field where I was previously standing.
I growl out loudly. "You can fight, correct?" She nods and I smile.
"Everyone! To the front. Six rows, make it even." I call out loud making them look in confusion.
"NOW!" I shout.
All at once, the teens start to move into Six rows. I peer down at Ana and whisper into her ear. "Stand in the front row."
"Yes, Luna Isabelle." She says, walking towards the front. When she gets to the front, the girls from earlier surround her; Some behind her and some beside her as she is closest to me. I want to move forward but I know that I can't. Not without them actually doing something to her.
Austin see's my face and watches me closely.
Isabelle, Princess.. His voice comes through my head. I roll my eyes and turn to look at him.
"She's a teen. I'm not going to hurt her." I whisper through gritted teeth. His eyebrows shoot up in surprise at my tone. I turn back to watch the girls surround my pup, with one of the girls directly in front of her, spewing venom to her face.
Everyone around them looks at Ana and the girl, my pup shaking in anger and struggling to hide it.
I hear the other girl speak up louder before walking closer to her. I take a step forward but Austin stops me again, this time, out loud. "Isabelle."
But I'm paying no mind to him at all; My focus is on the girl in front of my pup.
"What are you gonna do? Huh? Hit me?" She stops to laugh tauntingly. "Just because you've TALKED to the thing you call Luna, doesn't make you special-" She makes sure her words are harsh and hard. "-In fact, I pity her for having to talk to you and listen to you go on, and on, and on, and on!"
Ana steps back, now seething in anger, but not willing to hit her. "No wonder your mom died. She probably killed herself to get away from you." I see Ana freeze before looking up at the girl.
"W-what?" She chokes out. The other girl just smiled gloatingly, happy to finally get a reaction out of Ana.
The girl opens her mouth to say something else, but before she can, Ana is grabbing her and throwing her to the ground.
