( EARTH ) Noel Parker. She was sitting on the cold steel chair with her head bent on her lap, she wallowed in pain and sorrow. Was this how her life was going to be? was she stuck in an endless circle of deceit, danger and crime? All because of a decision she took? But to be fair, it wasn't entirely her fault. She was positive that Ron Kennedy would have had her beloved killed, she had no choice. Noel knew that Ron Kennedy, who was the owner of RonKen group was behind the vile pictures that she had captured. It was a dangerous feat to even suspect the almighty Ron Kennedy for anything, but Noel knew that he pulled the strings. Ron Kennedy, a man in his late fifties, he was known to rule America from the underground, above layer and even in the middle. Owning the Flamboyant, dominant and powerful Ronken group, Ron Kennedy has been able to assert himself as the top dog in all areas. Ronken group was the motherboard to several grande businesses in every scope of venture. There was the Greens surban, which housed everything food and beverage. Green surban was by far the top food and beverage company in the states. There was Kennedy Tech and chem which spearheaded anything Technology and chemicals. Ron Kennedy made sure to insert himself in the company's most important stances and to lead it. Thus way, he could get away with everything and anything. He was that powerful. Then there was Saturn, stilled under Ronken group. It was the country's most important Media house. That was where Noel worked. Noel had harbored dreams to work in the great saturn ever since sophomore year. Who didn't want to work there? Saturn was not only the biggest name in the game, it paid all workers handsomely. When she received the email that she had gotten the job, that was the happiest she had ever been. Not even her boyfriend, Luke Graham had made her that excited. But little did she know that on Christmas eve the previous year, her enthusiastic yearns to work in the glorious Saturn would burn and turn into a dying and grave desire to escape it. But no, Noel couldn't run, she couldn't evade. If she did, both her mother and little brother would be killed. Noel would never want that, so she did whatever she was told... FOR NOW. All the s**t she was in was because she didn't listen to her mother and boyfriend. She should have stayed home on Christmas eve, she should have been with her family. But no, she took the job and stumbled into some dire and deadly trap, which she feared she would forever be trapped in. ***************** Her phone began to ring, causing her to lift her head forward and to sluggishly search for it. She finally found it inside her brown handbag. When she saw the caller's name, Noel felt the mixed emotions of relief, more pain and regret. She was relieved because Christie Morgan, who is one of her childhood and best friend who was the only person in the world that understood what she was passing through. Christie knew every detail of the dark job Noel was forced to do. Christie was the only soul that Noel talked about her pains and secrets to. Hence, her relief. She was in pain because Christie reminded her a great deal of it. Why? Because Christie was associated to the reason she was drowning in affliction and ache. How was Christie affiliated with Noel's dilemma? It all had to do with why the emergence of Christie's call made Noel feel regret. Christie was the principal reason why Noel left home that night to take the impromptu job. Christie had called that night that she had an extra beat to cover, and that she had other important beats to submit. She begged Noel for assistance and Noel couldn't say no to her bestie. She walked into a scene that made her regret her decision to help her friend. Sure, she had begged for her forgiveness many times, stating that she didn't know how dangerous the beat was and that she felt guilty. Noel had to forgive her of course, she knew it wasn't her fault. It wasn't easy to be a journalist in America, and if you work for saturn, its even worse. But what she uncovered that night? No, that was too vile. So in Christie's attempt of making up for what she did, she promised to be Noel's safe haven. A comfortable spot where Noel can say anything and get the load off her chest and shoulders. Because Noel could most definitely not tell her family, or even the authorities. ****************** " Hey... " Christie's voice was low, calm but intended. " Hey... " Noel replied with the same motion. " How are you? " Christie asked. " Waiting for my flight. " " How are you? " Christie asked again. Noel kept silent. " We're using a burner phone, they can't track it. Talk to me please... " Christie begged. " Christie... I don't want to talk right now__ " Please, I'm trying to help you... " " I know__ " Just talk to me. " Noel released a deep and frustrated sigh. She felt like cracking her phone into two and stabbing someone with it, but she maintained her cool. " You know what? I'll wait until you leave Bangkok. " Noel's heart sank, but in a peaceful way. " Thanks. " " Flight 4053 to United States of America in five minutes. " " That's your flight. " Christie told her. " Yeap, " Noel dragged herself to stand, " Talk to you later. " " Yeah, have a nice flight. " Christie relayed to her. Noel slipped her phone back into her bag and gathered the little belongings she had. When she was done, she subconsciously gave the airport a short glance, as though she was casting a final sight and feel of Bangkok. It was exactly how the movies depicted it, dark and dangerous. Noel began to head over to her flight. And like Christie had said, she prayed in her heart that her flight was nice. But little did she know that her flight would be far from 'nice'.
