What?
"Wait, what? But… but I'm an only child. I never had siblings. Did you guys have a child when I was gone?" I asked my parents.
"No honey. Jasper was our first son." Mom cried and dad patted her hair. "You know that we were trying for a long time to get pregnant. When we finally did, for the first time, we were ecstatic. I took a really good care of myself so the child would be healthy. But one day, around the middle of my pregnancy I had a miscarriage…" mom sniffed and sat on the couch.
I went and kneeled in front of her, putting my hands on her knees. Dad then sat next to mom and put his arm around her. Jonathan stood behind my back, dumbstruck with his mouth open. Everyone else was sitting in silence, all eyes on us.
"Are you okay?" I whispered to mom and squeeze
