Chapter 4

1042 Words
I was standing in a big park with lots of trees and there were no people around me. It looked like it was in the afternoon. Where is everyone? I started walking around and looking for someone to help me. When I found no one I started to run. I don’t know why, but I knew I was in grave danger. I ran for the street, but before I could reach the road someone grabbed me from behind. I started to kick and scream. ‘No! Let me go! Please! No!’ I clawed and kicked and screamed, but nobody came. Nobody ever comes to help me. The figure hit me in the head and then I collapsed. I woke up in a warehouse. I could see the machinery in the back and the big windows and open room. The ceiling was so high up that I could never climb that high. I was tied up with chains into the concrete floor of the factory. My head was bleeding from the wound. It was throbbing and burning. ‘Can anyone hear me? Please, help me!’ I don’t know when I started crying but I felt the tears rolling down my cheeks. I just knew this was it. I was going to die here. My dreams felt so real. ‘If you help me I will help you my dear.” I looked up and saw a hooded figure in front of me. ‘Who are you?’  I demanded as the tears roll down my cheeks. ‘Answer me Ava. Are you going to help me?’ It sounded like he was amused by me being terrified. ‘I don’t know what you want. Please! You have the wrong girl!’ ‘Save yourself Ava. The world is a horrible place. It is not worth saving. I can promise you that.’ ‘I don’t know what you are talking about. Please!’ ‘Do what I ask and I will spare your life.’ He waited in silence for my reply. I didn’t know what they wanted.  I am just an ordinary teenager. I can’t help them. And if I can’t, they are going to kill me. After a few minutes he sighed, turned around and walked away. ‘Kyla it’s time.’ The hooded figure said to the other. Kyla ran towards me. I never saw how I died. I just felt the pain and agony swallow me whole.   I woke up screaming. My mom was in my room in seconds. ‘Sweetie, what’s wrong?’ She hugged me tightly. When she touched the back of my head she froze. ‘Evan, get in here!’ my mom started to shake violently. I didn’t know what was going on. I just had a bad feeling. My dad came rushing into the room. ‘What’s wrong?’ my dad froze in the doorway. His eyes got huge and he looked afraid. What was he afraid of? Was he afraid of me? Why? ‘Turn on the light.’ My mom commanded. My dad switched the light on. My dad started to get pale. ‘Dad, what’s going on? Talk to me!’ I battled to keep my eyes open. ‘Evan, get the car ready.’ My dad rushed out of the room and I heard him running down the stairs. One minute later I heard the car roaring out of the garage. ‘We need to leave now sweetie. You are going to be fine. Can you walk?’ I was stunned. What was happening? I just nodded my head. My mom stood up and pulled me to my feet. I turned around to get my phone and that was when I saw it. My sheets were covered in blood and my wrists were cut badly. I started to scream. I had lost all of my energy and I felt myself slipping away. ‘You are going to be fine sweetie. Let’s get to the car.’ She pulled me to my feet and dragged me down the stairs. I fought with everything that I had left to stay awake, to not slip away. We went out of the front door and my dad had the backseat door open for us. My dad looked as if he was in shock. I don't think any of us had ever seen so much blood! I climbed in and my mom was behind me while I was trying to stay awake. My dad slammed the door shut and ran to the driver’s side. He jumped in and rushed to the hospital. At least that was where I thought we were heading. Before I knew it we were at the ER entrance. When we pulled up two nurses rushed out with a gurney. I was on it in seconds thanks to my mom and dad. I was rushed to the operating room. Keep you eyes open, don't fall asleep. The doctors and nurses started getting everything ready for the operation and putting me on a machine to monitor my heartbeat.  The last thing I saw was the doctor putting a mask on my face.   I woke up in a hospital room. My mom was holding my hand and my dad was pacing in the room. ‘Mom, dad?’ I whispered. They both looked relieved to hear that I was finally awake. My dad rushed to my other side and grabbed my other hand. My mom spoke first. ‘How are you feeling sweetie?’ My mom was still crying. ‘I feel…’ How did I feel? I don’t even know what happened. Where did all that blood come from? Why did I need surgery? I felt empty and alone. I nearly lost my life and I don't know why. ‘I’m fine mom. What... what happened?’ Mom and dad looked at each other. It was like they were talking to each other through their eyes. ‘We were hoping you could tell us sweetie. I heard you screaming and went straight to you. When I grabbed hold of you, you were wet and when your dad switched on the light…’ She trailed off. I knew exactly what had frightened them. I just know that all that blood only meant one thing; I was dying in my own bed. Everything was soaked in blood. ‘I don’t remember what happened.’ I said. Was the dream real?  How could I explain my dreams to them? It isn’t normal and I don’t want any sympathy from anyone. And I don’t want to be admitted to a psychiatric ward for imagining things that aren’t real. I know they think that I did this to myself.
