(On a Saturday morning)
Owami's POV
" I wish, I could just get into a flight and go to Paris.. I can already imagine myself, waking up in the morning looking at the Eiffel Tower, admiring it's beauty and the way it was designed. I can already see myself at the top of the tower exalting and admiring the stunning view of Paris".
That's me talking to myself lying on my bed on a beautiful Saturday morning.. "Owami wake up, can't you see that the sun is already out yet you are still sleeping, who's going to marry you when you are so lazy?" those are my grandmother's words while she was standing at the door of my bedroom. I don't understand why everyone thinks that the only thing females are destined to do when they grow older is to get married and have kids!" Some of us have dreams to chase and goals to achieve like having our own mansions and driving expensive cars not to be baby making machines and being housewives" that's what I always tell my grandmother everytime she talks about marriage and kids". Can I just sleep for five more minutes Gogo" I replied, while covering my head with my favorite pink blanket". " Owami I said wake up, what time are you going to do your chores when you're still snoring?" She said while taking off my blanket. I woke up and left the room without saying a word to my grandmother. " Owami come back here and tidy your room" Gogo shouted as I was going outside. I turned and went back to my room and cleaned it. After cleaning I sat on my bed and looked at the Nelson Mandela portrait that was hanging next to my wardrobe. " Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" those are the words of the former late president Nelson Mandela. President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela is & will always be my "Hero", I never met him but I really love him. One day I also wish to be the " Voice" of South Africans, to be the one who speaks on behalf of all the children from underprivileged backgrounds, to be the advocate for women who are experiencing hardship.
Sometimes I ask myself "How am I going to achieve my goals"? when I don't have the same opportunities as other kids, when I don't live in a huge mansion with 20 rooms? I ask myself these questions each and everyday but I always tell myself that "my time will come" but for now the only thing I can do is to dream because I'm just a dreamer with big ambitions and hopes of changing the world into a better place.
