Start of her new life

As we walked through the castle, people greeted her with such happiness and jubilation. You could tell she was overwhelmed by their attention. She was polite nonetheless. Greeted them and repeated their names back.

“Son, daughter, you have finally emerged from your room. Good morning!” My father said as he approached. He bowed.

I loved my father. He is very formal, but i know for a fact that if i stepped out of line he would put me in my place. As alpha, I don't have to listen, but my father is wise, so i do. He has always been a happy man despite the challenges he has faced.

“Father.” Nyx and I said at the same time. We both also bowed as a greeting.

He continued. “ What are my two children up to today?”

“We are going shopping, father. Then I thought I'd give her a tour of the kingdom.” See her new home and all.” I told him.

“How nice. I won't keep you two then.” He gave Nyx a peck on the cheek and walked off towards the training grounds. For his age, he can still get the best of some of my men.

We went to the car. “Shall we baby?” I opened the door and helped her in.

We spent three hours shopping. I have never seen anyone so happy in my life. We walked through the town and everyone's eyes were on us. My wolf stirred with jealousy. Some of the men looked at her wantingly. They tried to hide their stores but to no avail.

One guy in particular caught my eye. He had to be new to the territory. He didn't even bother to hide his gaze. I didn't like the feeling I got from him one bit.

I mind linking some of my men. “Find out who that man is! No one stared at my baby like that.”

“Yes Alpha!” They all said in harmony.

They rushed over to the man and apprehended him.

Nyx eyes went wide with worry. “What's going on?”

“Nothing,” I said with a hint of anger in my voice. I grabbed her elbow and pulled her in the opposite direction.

We had a good day despite that little hiccup. I continued to show her our little town. I pointed out all my favorite restaurants and hang out spots. I showed her the place where I fell and broke my femur as a child. My old grade school, but i saved the best for last.

We came to a stop at the very edge of town in front of a small temple. It was elaborately decorated and dedicated to the goddess Selene. There were far bigger and more well-known temples towards the center of town, but this one was special.

Every twenty years, a new priestess is selected when she is born to serve the

Goddess. She is allowed to marry but her main duty and focus is the goddess. Inside was someone I wanted Nyx to meet. I led her inside and instructed her to take off her shoes. This was sacred ground.

A fair-haired girl appeared, and a smile spread across her face. “Rory!” She came rushing towards me. When she reached me we embraced in a huge hug.

“Epona!” I said as we embraced.

Nyx growled a little. I laughed. “Epona this is my wife Nxy.” I pulled Nyx close. “Nyx this is my sister Epona. She is the priestess here. Her husband serves the goddess here as well. Where is Stephon?”

“Pleased to meet you Nyx. Sorry I couldn't come to your mating ceremony.” She said. “ It happened so fast. I had to perform a full moon ritual.” She said, hugging Nyx. “As for your question, Brother Stephon is out in the garden.”

“It's ok. Serving the goddess is a high honor. Not many people get chosen. Pleased to meet you. “ Nyx said.

“Oh, brother, she is so sweet and beautiful. The goddess has been generous in her blessings. “ Epona was beaming with happiness.

We sat and talked with my sister for a while. She served us a simple meal of meat, cheese and grapes. Stephon finally came in from the garden and met Nyx. He showed her the herbs he gathered and promised to tell her their uses another time. Nyx was happy and eager to learn. After a few hours, we departed and headed back to the castle.

The entire ride home I was lost in thought about what was waiting for me. The stranger from town was in the dungeon. Who is he? Why is he here? Why was he looking at Nyx in such a sinister, lust-filled way? I will find out soon enough.
