Lunar Goddess

Nyx My life in the beginning was less than ideal. My father was king of his territor , the Alpha of the Rivulet Pack. My mother named me Nyx, meaning night personified. I came at night. She thought it was fitting. My father hates it. He said it reminded him of that basketball team in New York. Growing up, my parents always went on royal business. They left me alone with my uncle and three brothers. My uncle loved me ,but he had other things on his mind. My brothers were a different story. Alec, the eldest, dotted on me. I was his only sister and the princess. He always played with me, chased me around, and other things. Cane hated me and Alec. He wanted the throne. Alec was next in line, so to Cane, he was in the way. I didn’t know why he hated me until years later. As a kid, I never got into any trouble or caused problems. My brother Leo loved me but did what Cane said. He had no value either, so he had to hitch a wagon to something. Cane being next in line and and what he decided to do. My first six years were ok. That was until one night when everything changed. I woke up to a deafening sound. My Uncle screaming and then other screams followed. “Guards come quick.” I heard my uncle scream. I ran to where the sound of all the screams was coming from. I found them all in Alec's room. Everyone was screaming and crying. Alec was lying dead on the floor. Someone ripped his throat out. Blood was all over his room. My uncle gave orders to lock down the castle and find the culprit. He also wanted to know where the guard was. Where was Thad? In all the commotion, no one saw me come in. I walked up to Alec body's tears, running down my face like a waterfall. I put my hand on his head. That’s when everyone finally noticed me. “No, no, Nyx.” He said loudly, but it was too late. I saw the truth. As wolves and children of the goddess Selene, we are granted powers. From an early age, I was about to see the truth in them just by touching someone. No one could lie to me. My uncle tried to get me to tell him what i saw, but i couldn't. The truth was too shocking, and I couldn't believe it. I saw all three of my brothers gathered in Alec’s room. Thad was there as well. Thad and Leo left. Cane said something to Alec, and Alec started yelling. What they were arguing about, I didn't know. I was only six, and my powers weren’t fully developed yet. Cane suddenly changed into his wolf. He circled Alec, and while Alec was transforming into his wolf, Cane bit him in the neck. He ripped out his throat. My eldest brother fell to the floor lifeless. Cane transformed back into his human form , wiped off his face, and walked out. He murdered our eldest brother. He acted as if nothing had happened. My uncle was furious with me for not telling him what I saw. I couldn't believe what I saw. Surely, surely the powers were wrong. I didn't want to believe it. Let alone say it. My uncle did find out that Thad, Cane, and Leo were there. My two remaining brothers lied. They said that Alec gave Thad the night off and that they went hunting when Alec was killed. My uncle believes them. He had to because they were in line for the throne and who dared to question them. My parents had gone on royal business and rushed home as soon as they heard. My mother was distraught with grief. That was the last time she left the castle. My father didn't get the luxury of grieving. He still had a kingdom to run and a pack that needed him. Alec was twenty-one and was supposed to ascend the throne in a matter of weeks. My father wanted to retire and spend more time with my mother. Now, the plan has changed. Cane was only twenty but turned twenty-one in nine months. He had no training to be king. He was schooled in politics, but running a kingdom was more than just that. My father was worried a king was supposed to rule with his heart, be fair and kind. He is a good man and acts as a father to the whole pack. Cane possessed none of that. He only cared for himself. Cane didn't care. Well, he did care about one thing, and that one thing was me. After Alec died when i was six, my brother started to come into my room. For the first year, he only slept in the same bed, cuddling me. He never touched me improperly from ages six to ten. He told me not to tell anyone or he would kill me. I believed him, and when he became alpha, no one would believe me. You would have thought that even after he found a mate, he would have left me alone. He didn’t. Cane still came to my room and forced me to please him. We never had actual s*x. He knew i would kill myself, and who wants a dead toy? His inapropreate fascination with me went on for years. No one noticed. My mother's mind was gone, and because of her bond with my father, he was weakening too. They locked themselves in their room. My father felt helpless and didn't want anyone to see him. After Cane became Alpha, he made my uncle step down and had Leo take his place. When Cane was gone, Leo ran the show. Cane hardly ever left, but when he did, i was relieved. With Cane around, I wasn't a princess. I was just a toy. Something for him to abuse and use. He pretended to dote on me. The reality, however, was whatever he gave me he took back. My room wasn't even really my room. It was actually his wifes. There was a secret passage connecting our rooms. No one knew the dirty truth. The truth was that at night, Cane would send his wife through the passage to my room and send me to his. We did this charade every night. There he would make me service him. When he wanted more than what I could give, he would make his wife join. He only had her join us so that she might get pregnant. In truth, he only touched her when i was around or to punish me for something. He was an awful man.
