I dropped my bags and boxes by my bed. I'm in my dorm room at the moment stretching my cramped back and sore muscles, the travel back to college was stressful. The six-hour flight was t*****e.
I landed on my bed groaning in pleasure, I rolled over on my stomach and decided to have some shut-eye. The door creaked open and my dorm partner walked in, with boxes and bags also.
"Hi, how're the holidays," Alice asked. As she dropped her luggage and sat on her bed.
"It was fun. How's yours." I asked.
"It was so cool, can you believe we went to the..." Her phoned dinged and she smiled.
"I'll gist you later, I need to catch up with my friends at the cafe. Are you going to be fine alone for a few hours?"
"Yeah, it's fine to go ahead..."
"Okay then, see you later!" She put on her jacket and left the room with a bang at the door.
I sighed, I'm going to be fine alone. It's all okay. I'm used to this, why am I not feeling okay being alone this time? I groaned.
Before I left for college, Auntie Jo failed to fulfill her promise. After she met with Mr. Wilson she has been so busy traveling all around all week. My parents were not left behind the busy schedule, they moved from state to state meetings to meeting all through my holiday home, it was so horrible. Even all the 'I'm sorry' gifts couldn't console my loneliness but I had to put on a smile to not worry my parents.
Three knocks on my door and I'm off my bed.
"Who is it?" No reply.
I was expecting a reply from one of Alice's friends, but now I'm feeling uneasy.
I don't have any friends that would want to visit me. The stranger knocked again and I start to imagine how the news of my death would go round.
'College introvert, found dead in her room Sunday evening, in a pool of blood.' I could see people hover above my dead body whispering.
'I've never seen her before.'
'She looks like a girl in my history class, I think she's mute cus' have never seen her talk before.
Then Alice runs in and screams.
'Nooo! I shouldn't have left you alone.' She cries.
Another knock. I opened the door pushing my wild imaginations behind me.
The stranger before me is a guy wearing all black his face was hidden behind his hoodie. He pushed the hood off his head and smiled.
Damn. He was handsome, I couldn't explain it he was a mixture of hot, beautiful, cute, and dangerous.
"It's time to go." That was his first sentence since I opened the door.
"What do you mean by it is time to go?" I folded my arms, this night was starting to get interesting.
The guy sighed, pushing his hands into his pockets.
"Humans." He whispered. And I raised an eyebrow.
"Haven't your parents told you anything?"
"Like what..."
"Like someone, which is me, would come to fetch you."
"To where?" I asked more confused.
He stood quiet and I decided to close the door tagging him as a weirdo. He pushed the door open and grabbed my arms.
"What the hell are you doing!" I yelled. It went dark for a second as if the lights went out and I found myself in my parent's house. They were both having dinner while arguing with Auntie Jo.
"How could you not have told her, after all these years!" Auntie Jo screamed.
"What the..." I whispered in shock.
"You're home." The guy spoke behind me.
I screamed, turning around to face him. He freaking had a smug smile on his face. I walked backward, this guy was a freak.
The whole house was quiet and I noticed my aunt and parents already stopped arguing. They all opened their mouths in shock.
"How come she doesn't know anything about the agreement. You should remember the consequences if you decide to back out of the agreement." The guy growled menacingly.
"Mom, what is he talking about," I whispered, I felt more confused and frustrated they all looked like disobedient teenagers.
"You better start talking, I'm already late." The guy rubbed his face in exhaustion. "I'm waiting."
"Mom...
"Cecile, I'm so sorry. I didn't know how to tell you. Your break-up made it even worse. I knew I should have told you but I was afraid it would break your heart the more." She started to rush out her words, tears streamed down her face.
"I-I don't understand mom. You're scaring me." I laughed. I think I'm going crazy. I looked to my Dad and Auntie Jo. They couldn't even look me in the eye.
Now I'm starting to get scared.
"Cee, do you remember the time when you had leukemia at 7. And you had all these tubes all over you?"
I nodded, I had a feeling this was going to be bad.
"Well I couldn't watch you suffer, we were so broke then. We could barely buy the drugs you needed and I had to do something."
"Your Aunt and I went to a witch doctor and she gave us this lotion to use on you. She said in a week you would be fine. Cecile, I regret that day when I used that thing."
"The witch lied to us! It was never a magical healing potion. It was a summon fragrance. The fragrance was used by humans to summon Vampires. I never knew until it was late."
"An ancient Vampire was attracted to the scent."
"He broke into the hospital room to suck your blood dry. You were so pure and innocent. The Vampire couldn't resist the temptation, but I begged him not to kill you. I told him I would do anything in exchange for your life."
I started to feel dizzy, everything was spinning. I was seeing red. I was starting to get where she was going.
"My end of the deal was to give you up when you were at your lowest, mentally and emotionally. I tried to help you get back, to make you happy again but fate was inevitable."
"So... You're saying... He's here... To take me... Away... Forever." I pointed to the stranger. The word 'FOREVER' echoed in my ears, haunting my heart repeatedly.
"Yes." And that was it. That was the little three-lettered word that changes my life.
"Bye!" The guy yelled and it went dark again for a second and I found myself in a car. The car started to move to somewhere unknown.
Once again, this night was going to get interesting. I cried silently, I couldn't even react. What was the point of fighting when your life was planned already without your consent?
