A L Y S S A After last night I decided to keep a low profile and avoid everyone and anyone. I couldn't deal with anymore gossip being spread about me, not today. When I finally dragged myself out of bed, I noticed Amanda's bed hadn't been slept in, I decided to text her and make sure she was okay. 'Me to Amanda - Hey where are you? Are you okay?' She quickly responded. 'Amanda to me - I'm sooo good girl, I slept at Nick's last night, I'll see you in class and fill you in -wink emoji-' 'Me to Amanda - No that's okay I can pretty much guess what happened. See you later.' I threw my phone on my bed and jumped in a steaming hot shower washing away all memory of last night. The freaky guy who tried to pull me out the room, Trey saving me and then giving me a mind blowing kiss, and of course trying to ignore the fact that VD could tell the whole school before I even had the chance to come up with an excuse as to why and what happened. After my shower I felt the need to dress comfortable today so threw on a pair of blue, ripped skinny jeans with a white cropped jumper and a pair of white trainers, along with my navy Chanel. I left my hair down in it's natural loose waves and applied a small, natural amount of make up before grabbing my phone and leaving my room. I was flicking through f*******: on my way to class when I bumped into a firm body. "Shit." I grumbled as I bent down to pick up my bag and the random books that fell. "Hey, s**t sorry, are you alright?" I heard a deep, gruff voice. "Yeah it was my fault I wasn't watching where I was going." I said as I looked up and handed him his books back. "Thank you, I'm really sorry." He smiled at me. "Whoa, you're Alyssa right? VD's new favourite toy?" I scoffed whilst shaking my head. "I guess so." I shrugged. "Don't worry, not all of us believe what that robot has to say, I'm James, James Dyson." He held his hand out. "Alyssa Parkes." I smiled as I took his, shaking his hand. "Nice to meet ya. Maybe we can go for a coffee sometime, get to know one another, y'know as friends." "Sounds good." I agreed. "Great, I'll see you round, Lyssa." And off he went. I honestly felt James was the first genuine person, besides the girls, that I've met here. He was good looking, dressed smart and came across as a real gentleman, and who knows, we could become good friends, I could use some of those in this school. I trotted into my business studies class, sitting beside Amanda and Amy, Nadine was no where to be seen. I walked straight past Trey without looking his way one inch, but from the corner of my eye I could see his sight was set on me as he brushed his hand against mine as I walked past. "What happened last night? Everyone is talking about how Conor tried to drag you out the party?" I dropped my head on my arms in the desk. "I hate this school." I groaned. I lifted my head back up and turned to Amanda. "Why does everyone have to gossip in this school?" "It's kinda what we do, y'know life of the rich and famous, scandals and secrets." She shrugged it off like it was nothing. "Ugh." "Don't worry, you'll get used to it pretty soon." Amy smiled as she placed her hand on my arm. I smiled in return. The whole lesson Amanda and Amy were talking about the party last night, Amanda was telling us about my brother Nick and how cute she thought he was, and how much of a good night they had, Amy was saying about how she met a cute guy and went back to her room with him but never planned on seeing him again, I just remained silent, keeping tight lipped about Trey's and I's kiss. That was something I didn't want VD knowing about. "You don't mind me going out with your brother again tonight do ya, Lyssa?" Amanda asked me pulling me from my thoughts. "Huh?" I snapped out my day dream. "You don't mind me going out with your brother tonight do you?" "Oh no of course not, go have fun, enjoy the night." I smiled. Everyone's phone went off again with many, random different text chimes hollowing through the lecture hall. 'Please don't be about me.' I preyed silently in my head. 'VD to everyone - The party was quite a crack last night and boy do I have a few home truths to set free. Number one; Nick Parkes and Amanda Heartly we're seeing looking quite cosy last night as they headed back to Nick's dorm room, and she never left. Naughty Amanda. Number two; Pretty little new money, Alyssa Parkes was assaulted last night when Captain of the soccer team, Conor Ascort tried to drag her out of the party in a drunken fit of lust, shortly before being handed his ass to him by Trey who left with Alyssa that night and saw to of shared quite the steamy kiss, jealous Jen? And last but not least, one of your favourite cheerleaders knocked an old man over after driving his car, drunk. Guess who? More later my little scandalous lot.' I looked up in shock to see Trey's eyes already on me with a smirk. He was loving this, how could he be loving this?! "You and Trey kissed last night?!" Amanda exclaimed with a wide grin plastered across her lips. "Tell. Us. Everything!" Amy clapped her hands together. "It was nothing, we were drunk, and all that happened in the party, it was just a one time thing." I quickly explained. "To you, maybe." Amanda smiled as she nodded in the direction of Trey's seat who was talking and smiling with his friends, then looking back at me. "I'm so hosed." I groaned. I hated this VD ass. Why mention me so much of all the people in this school why me?! I blame Trey. I packed my things up after I told the girls I'll catch them up. "So about last night..." I heard Trey's voice. "I don't want to talk about it." I cut him off before walking away. He quickly caught up with me and walked by my side through the corridor. "Why are you avoiding me?" He asked. "I'm not." I denied. "You are. Tell me, why?" I stopped in the middle of the corridor and turned to him. "Thank you for last night, I appreciate it but I really think we should stay away from each other, y'know." "Wanna know what ya mean by that?" He shrugged with a smirk on his face. Shit he had me there. I didn't actually have a valid point, just the VD situation. "Well I know Jen really likes you, and you two have a thing an all that, and I'm not exactly looking to get into anything, I literally got out of a relationship a few days before coming here so yeah, there's that?" "You broke it off with him?" "No?" "He broke it off with you?" "Yes?" He scoffed with a slight laugh. "Idiot." "It is what is is, I gotta class to get too." I hastily walked off, looking back a couples times to see a smile on Trey's face. I walked into social studies class to see Nick sat with Amanda and James, the guy I met earlier today. He had a bright smile on his face as soon as he saw me. "Lyss! Over here!" Nick called out with Amanda by his side waving me over. I weaved my way through the lecture hall and over to sit beside Amanda. "Alyssa, hey." "Hey guys." I greeted them with a smile. "Lyss, this is James Dyson, the type of guy you should be spending time with." Nick says with his eye sending me a warning, wide eye look. "I know we met earlier, hey James." "Hey Alyssa, nice to see you again." "How do you two know each other?" Nick asked suspiciously. "I had the pleasure of bumping into her earlier today where she knocked my books out my hand and me off my feet." James smoothly said with his tone like sleek velvet. "I see." Nick replied looking between us. Class got started and I was loosing myself, and fast. Normally I was really good at this kinda thing, and I wasn't exactly dumb, but my mind kept wondering back to Trey, our kiss, how he made me feel. I knew I had to stay away from him to lead a peaceful life but apart of me wanted to also explore what he had to offer. "Alyssa?" I heard a familiar voice snapping me back to reality. I shook my head and turned to James. "Yeah, sorry I was in a world of my own." "I said if you're still up for going to coffee maybe we could go after class if you're free." He smiled. "She's free." Nick chimed in. "And how would you know?" I shot him a confused look. "I know your class schedule." He shrugged. I roll my eyes at him. "Sure, James, after class sounds good." "Wonderful." He grinned putting his head down and getting back to jotting down notes. "Coffee? Is it a date?" Amanda silently mouthed to me. I shook my head. "Friends only." I silently mouthed back. She looked over at James then back at me before sticking up thumbs up, grinning. After class, Nick and Amanda headed off on their own, while James and I walked side by side to the café on the campus. "Welcome to Coffee Den, what can I get you both today?" The girl behind the counter smiled. "Coffee, cream, 2 sugars, please." We both said exactly the same time. We both looked at each in complete shock then laughed at the coincidence. We got out coffees and sat down at a window table across from one another. The conversation was pleasant and easy. He was such a nice guy, very polite, well mannered and such a gentleman. He didn't once try hitting on me or never did he ever make me feel uncomfortable in this presence. "So he broke up with you because you moved to Miami?" "Yup. Just like that, after a whole year together, multiple tournaments and a million and one memories, he just threw me in the trash." I shrugged taking a sip of my coffee. "Well he missed out if you ask me, you're beautiful, and kind and smart. Who want want to break up with that?" "Thank you, that's really sweet of you, James." "Only the truth, Duchess." "Duchess? How did you know I was a duchess?" "I make it my business to know who I study with, you see I take my education very seriously so I make it my business to know the ins and outs of this school and everyone in it." He explained. "Oh, okay... Yeah. I mean I'm not a titled duchess, it's just a family title, y'know." "I do, I do." He smiled. "So how are you liking it here so far?" "I mean it's completely different to my school back home but I'm slowly getting used to it, I guess." "I see, your brothers seem to of settled in well, they've made many friends and already ploughed their way through most of the cheerleading squad. Sorry for my language." "That's a detail I didn't need to know, but yeah they find it easier to adjust than I do." "I see. So I wanted to ask if the things with you and Trey are what VD makes them out to be?" "Yes, James, they are." I heard his voice pop up from no where.
