'Spider's Here'

1514 Words
Revising for a literature quiz, I waited for Emalie in the class which gradually started to fill up. Although, I had already guessed what it was related to, I was still eager to know if my speculations were right. Emalie waltzed in, radiating different vibes. Happy vibes to be exact. She settled on her usual desk; in front of mine and turned to me. "Gosh, finally, but How do I tell her?" Emalie thought. 'What do you mean 'how do I tell her?' Girl, fill me in.' I wanted to know everything. But then again it's not easy for everyone to share everything. Just how I wasn't able to tell her how my life had changed in the most unexpected ways. "Did something good happen?" I asked. "You have no idea, Linnet, a lot happened. To start with, Ryle asked me out, at your birthday party." "Really? What did you say?" I asked, all excited and giddy. "How could I say no to his Cute as hell confession." Emalie laughed. "Goodness gracious, Emalie, that means you and Ryle are going out! I'm so happy for both of you!" I squealed with heart eyes. "Thank you, Linna!" Ryle appeared from behind Emalie throwing his arms around Emalie's neck childishly and gave her a peck on her cheek. Emalie blushed! Emalie just turned red. I'd never thought this day would come. Turns out it was Ryle who brought this change in her. "Get a room, you two!" We heard Kyle saying from behind and we all started laughing. ■☆■☆■☆■☆■ It was a relief that Tyler didn't attend today's classes. How was I supposed to face him after summoning him while he was probably going to brush his teeth, imitating him while wearing his shirt, and nearly pushing him off the balcony in merely five minutes. Sighing, I wandered into the library for some reference books. Picking out the books I needed, my wandering gaze halted at that table where I used to see Tyler sitting and lost in a book. It seemed such a waste to come here and to not catch a glimpse of him. I sighed and reclined at that table. Why was I sighing so much today? A constant gaze from a blonde sitting at the table across mine, drew my attention. Unfortunately, she was close enough for her thoughts to run through my mind. "How can she sit there? Doesn't she know that it's Tyler's? If she wants to get noticed by him, I feel so bad for this poor soul." 'Ughhh not again. Why does Tyler have a copyright on every seat?' I thought. "Isn't she the new student, Linnet? She is really something, just as I heard about her. She's such an attention seeker." Another pair of eyes glaring at me in disgust. I rolled my eyes picking up my books from that darned table. Just as soon as I began to get up, a strong hand fell on my shoulder compelling me to sit again. "Linnet Flores, running away again?" Tyler spoke softly and sat across me with his book, blocking off the blondie. 'No, I can't run away,' I told myself. Simply leaving every time wasn't the answer. I needed to obtain full control over my powers as soon as possible. And for that, I needed his help. "Am I interrupting you?" He flipped a few pages and glanced up at me. "Nope. Not at all." I shook my head and reopened my books. "That's nice to hear," came his reply. "Lorentzian wormholes by Matt Viser..." I read the title of the book in his hands. "Do smart Warlock students read that complicated stuff?" "Oh, this?..." He hesitated. "Its for research purpose. I've been checking out how this Realm works and the knowledge people have here." "I see... So you–" Interrupting me, the library attendant knocked her table and glared at us from behind her cat-eye spectacles; a warning. "When can I start practising?" I wrote on my hot pink sticky note and pasted it on his side of the table. He gestured for me to pass him my sticky notes. "9 pm, at my place? I'll come pick you up." He wrote down. "Okay, cool!" I mouthed. Except I wasn't okay, nor was I cool with it. But I couldn't show him that I was awkward with it. I assured myself that Wiola is also gonna be there and it wouldn't be awkward at all. ■☆■☆■☆■☆■ I folded his shirt nicely and let it slip carefully in my bag. My phone dinged as I received a text from Tyler saying 'I'm here.' peeked out of the window on my left and saw him waving at me with a smile. Hopping two steps at a time, I sprinted to the door. "Bye Mom," I yelled. "Be at home before midnight or I'm kicking you out," Mom shouted jokingly from her study desk. "I'll be back in the morning," I quipped and shut the main door. Tyler was reclining in his car, both hands casually placed above the steering wheel. "Spider's here, mam," Tyler said humorously, pulling my leg. I settled in the passenger seat and he brought the engine to life. The first thing that came to my mind, was returning his shirt so we can forget about what happened today. "Here, I have laundered your shirt." I held out his folded shirt and he took it in his free hand. In between driving, He looked at the shirt which was now placed over the dashboard of his car, and chuckled to himself. How could he not? I had made a fool of myself earlier this morning. I tried to ignore it but I still got somewhat annoyed. "What's so funny, huh?" I glared at him. "I want to see you mimicking me once again." He smiled, unbothered by my glare. My face got warm from embarrassment. "I... will no way in hell do that again," I replied with a fake smile. "You can't do this to me, you don't even know how adorable you looked when you tried to mimic me," he whined. 'This guy could be whiny too? Who knew.' "Adorable or funny, huh? I ain't falling for this." I rolled my eyes and gazed out of the window, smiling like an i***t. He halted the car in front of an elegant two-storey long and low house with black exterior. The creamy white interior of the house peeked through the large glass windows. I would've never guessed that such a lavish house existed in our neighbourhood. "I've told Wiola that you're joining us. She'll be waiting for you so go in, I'll be there in a bit," Tyler notified. "Okay," I responded quickly and got off the car in excitement to meet Wiola. While walking, I let my eyes wander around, the greens of the well-kept grassland and grey of the stone-paved way leading to the main entrance, appeared to be an aesthetically satisfying contrast. A heartily smiling Wiola welcomed me at the expansive and modernly designed front porch, extended in a patio. She led me into her immaculate and outstanding house. Cold streams of air-conditioner skimmed my skin as we reached the vast main hall, walking on the slick and shiny white tiled floor. In the left corner of the hall equipped a fireplace, that didn't look like it had been used at all. On our right, adjoined a living room accommodating couches and an LED TV. "Want some coffee? I'm craving for some." Wiola faced me. "Sure, count me in," I replied. Accompanying her to the kitchen seemed to be a decent and appropriate idea than rambling around the house or slouching on the couch. The Kitchen was spotless, shiny; a wonderful combination of silvery and creamy hues. I leaned against the granite counter that festooned stainless steelware and watched her tearing sachets of instant coffee and stirring it in the matching grey mugs filled with milk. It wasn't until she closed her eyes, wrapping her hands around the mugs that steam started swirling up from them along with dark blue shimmery smoke oozing from between her fingers. Of course, she didn't need a gas stove or even a boiler to boil it. As she handed me the mug with a satisfied smile, I wondered if she knows that I know about her being a Witch. Although it didn't matter to me honestly. She was still the same Wiola I knew. "There, There, where are you lost?" She asked playfully, snapping her fingers in front of my zoned-out self. "Oh, it's nothing, I was just thinking..." I hesitated. "I understand, I know what must be going on in your mind. But don't stress yourself too much. Tyler told me everything and I'm so grateful that he found you." She assured me. Some unanswered questions still lingered in my head, so I didn't know why Wiola would be grateful to me, and exactly why Tyler needed me.
