“The Queen”

Avery blinked in front of the castle as her breath caught in her throat.

She turned to look at Onyx and then back at the castle to only divert her eyes back to Onyx again.

He chuckled at her as he grabbed her hand before dragging her inside.

As she made it through the door-way,she watched in amazement of the glass chandeliers,the knights on the sides of the hallway lined up,the staircase in the middle of the room.

“This is gorgeous.”Avery breath out quietly looking around.

Onyx chuckled beside her as she turned to him as he stared at her smirking.

“You know all this one day could be yours if you choose me.”Onyx said to her comment from a moment earlier.

Avery bit her lip blushing,looking away as she heard a noise from the top of the stairs.

She looked up to see an older woman staring at her with a small warm smile on her face as she walked elegantly down the stairs.

She stopped in front of Avery and Avery gulped nervously feeling her nerves get the best of her.

Onyx tightened his grip on her hand in a comforting way to steady her.

“This is my mother Veronica Milton,Queen and Luna of the [***************] Pack. And mother this Avery Stone,my mate.”Onyx said introducing them to each other.

“My dear,you’re Gorgeous and I know where in the palace but you didn’t have to dress so formal to impress me.”Veronica laughed lightly scanning Avery’s dress as she looked down blushing.

“Mother actually we left in a hurry and her pact got a breach after there border. She’s under my protection at the moment. As you know of the Dilemma That we have with the bond at the moment. Whoever attacked there pact knows she’s Xavier’s mate as well. We have more guards and security I want to make sure of her safety.”Onyx replied nodding at his mother and she gave Avery a sad smile.

“I see,I know this is a gentle matter but Alpha Xavier was okay with this?”Veronica asked with an eyebrow raised curiously at Onyx as he scoffed.

“It’s not like he had a choice to be honest in the matter. He needs time to find the enemy and fit in plans and other arrangements. Avery will be no harm here and it was her choice to come or not?”Onyx replied nodding his head at his mother.

Veronica nodded her head and smiled at him before turning to Avery. She gently grabbed her hand out of Onyx’s.

“Well my dear that’s great,I know you haven’t made your choice yet from the way Onyx was talking but would you be okay with learning our traditions and the way it is to be a Luna and a queen here.”Veronica asked gently smiling happily.

Avery’s heart thumped against her chest as her eyes widened in surprise.

She never expected someone to ask that question to her or so quick. This was new for her and overwhelmingly.

She went to open her mouth before Onyx stepped in.

“Mother Avery just got her maybe give her a few days before you give she gives you an answer first,Hmn?”Onyx said eyeing his mother as she sighed defeated lightly.

“Sure,I apologize I did not meant to overwhelm or overstep. I just got so excited to see Onyx have a mate,you see he’s 27 and didn’t find you yet until now. I just wanted to have everything run smoothly my dear. I’m not getting any younger.”Veronica said laughing as she squeezed Avery’s hand gently before letting go.

Avery nodded smiling back biting the side of her lip not realizing Onyx was 9 years older than her. He looked about 22 at the latest to be honest.

He was handsome from his,to his body,all the way down.

“See something you like princess?”Onyx asked raising an eyebrow with a smirk on his face.

Avery blinked twice as she blushed in embarrassment and looked away realizing she was staring at him after his mother said that.

“Sorry.”Avery mumbled looking down at her feet on the floor.

Onyx and his mother chuckled lightly.

“She’s adorable Onyx,nice match for you. I’m pretty sure the moon goddess knew what she was doing when she mated her to you.”Veronica said as Avery looked up at her blushing again.

“Cute! My dear do me one favor though.”Veronica asked seriously this time and Avery tilted her head curiously.

“If you were to stay here and choose him,as a queen never look down and always look the person in the eye. Never let anyone make you feel uncomfortable as a Luna or a Queen. It’ll be your job to lead and be the strongest and neck of the pack.”Veronica said swiftly nodded her head at Avery staring at her.

Avery’s eyes widen surprised with the information,she forgot that queens do have different rules. If she did decided to stay she wouldn’t just be a Luna.

“Mom she didn’t agree to stay yet or agree to your teachings,don’t scare her away.”Onyx replied annoyed.

“Even so from what I can see,Avery your more stronger and powerful then you realize my dear. Trust me. I’ll be waiting for your answer in a couple of days.”Veronica replied looking at Avery as she nodded at her smiling before making her way into another room into the house.

Onyx shook his head and sighed before turning to Avery.

“I do apologize on my mother’s behalf,she is warm as you can see but that queen speech was only because as a queen and a Luna. You can’t afford anyone to step on you, especially as a woman. They definitely have tried since my father passed and my mother makes sure they don’t.”Onyx explained as Avery nodded at him as he led her up the staircase.

“It’s okay,I understand where she’s coming from in a sense. She is very sweet,even though he’s the demeanor in that moment threw me off but I know it’s from a good place. I like her to be honest.”Avery replied as they made their way down the hallway to stop in front of a violet door.

Avery looked at it curiously before turning towards Onyx confused.

“My doors violet? You knew my favorite color already.?”Avery asked more confused since they didn’t spend much time together before today.

“Well actually I can tell from your prom dress you have on but I think I know who was able to do this. If I’m not mistaken your date’s dad knew my mom before she took over as queen fully.”Onyx replied smirking at her.

Avery’s eyes widened in astonishment wondering how many people Noah actually knew now. She did just meet him yesterday but he remembered that small detail and it warmed her heart as she smiled on this inside. She had to remember to thank him later.

“So mom likes to gossip?”Avery asked curiously now staring up at Onyx as he chuckled.

“Mom?”Onyx asked smirking at her as her eyes widened as she realized what she said as he chuckled at her.

“Nice ring to it honestly,music to my ears but yes if she likes you in a small elite circle. In court matters no,she keeps everything else under wraps and makes sure the kingdom is secure under lock and key. If she got that information,then whatever she had them do to your room you’ll probably love honestly.”Onyx replied opening the door for her to step in first.

Avery’s eyes widen as she gasped in amazement looking around the room.

There lay a big bed in the middle of room with violet silk sheets and comfortable set with pillows to match.

Silk black blinds laid themselves down against the windows behind the bed.

She had white vanity in the corner of the room that lit up with across the mirror. There sat a variety of make-up,all new brands and expensive.

The closet on the other side of the room laid an expensive collection of gowns,pajamas,regular clothes. Heels and comfortable shoes.

A brand new laptop sat by on the dresser with perfumes lined up on it.

“Wow”Avery breathed out before turning to Onyx and smiling sadly. He raised an eyebrow confused.

“Do you not like it?”Onyx asked cautiously afraid of her answer.

“No,no it’s not that,it’s beautiful but it’s all so expensive. I can’t accept this,how would I ever pay her back.”Avery asked looking around.

Onyx sat there for a second and his heart began to beat faster against his chest as he looked at the small girl.

“She’s different Onyx.”His wife said quietly,he almost missed it.

“She is different indeed.”Onyx though as he smiled gently at her watching her in amazement himself.

“Avery it’s okay,all this is to welcome you and a gift. No need to pay the queen back,also she probably won’t accept it anyway.”Onyx replied chuckling as he sat her bag down on her bed.

He sat at the end of it before his phone started to ring.

He pulled it out to stare at the caller ID for a second and rolled his eyes.

“Yes mother?”Onyx asked annoyed since she’s been everywhere since he’s been here today.

“I know it’s a bit early but I’ve arranged for a different for Avery tonight with the rest of the pack.”Veronica said before hanging up as he groaned.

He looked over at Avery as she squinted her eyebrows at him.

“Apparently my mother has arranged a dinner tonight for us,well you and the rest of the pack to meet you. I do apologize but she hung up before I could object.”Onyx said as Avery sighed relentlessly going to sit by Onyx on the bed.

“I don’t know what they’re expecting to be honest and what I can’t be what they’re expecting. This is all so nerve wracking.”Avery explained as she looked at him and he smiled gently patting her thigh.

She shuddered as she felt the sparks go off and breathing calm down as it calmed her.

She smiled at him thankfully.

“Don’t be what anyone expects,be yourself and I’m sure everyone will love you Avery.”Onyx replied patting her thigh one more time before getting up to leave the room.

“Onyx?”Avery called out as he made it to the door before he turned around to face her.

“Yes Avery?”He ask waiting for her to ask her question.

“Thank you,for everything.”She replied smiling as she smirked a little at her feeling his heart flip.

“You’re welcome Avery.”He replied before making his way out the door and to his room across the hall.
