Chapter 13

Raven I was about to enter the conference room when I saw Raoul walking towards me. I instantly noticed his tie was slightly crooked. The time he was close enough, I grabbed him from his tie and saw the shock engraved on his face. "Is this how you greet your employees now?" He teased. I raised my brow. "You're not just an employee, remember?" I smirked then I glanced at him shortly before continuing fixing his tie. "Right... I'm the fake boyfriend who gets handled in hallways." I chuckled at that and he stood closer to me. Too warm. Too calm that he could tell my hands are trembling just by fixing his tie. As soon as I finished, I smoothed the edge of his collar. He leaned onto me a little bit, our face inches away. His voice lower. "You know if you keep doing things like this, I'm going to forget we're acting." I met his gaze. "Good. That means it looks real." I winked and turned around, about to go inside the office but he simply grabbed me by my waist to bring me closer to him that made me blush. "I'll do something more that is believable." He winked then he kissed my cheek. His soft lips planted a curse on my right cheek. "I hate you." I pouted and he smirked. I tried to keep calm as we both enter the conference room. I just saw some employees that saw us and acted fool like they didn't see us being flirty. We sat down by the long table. I'm currently at the head of the table and he's on my left side. This meeting is about the Buenavente Holdings Midweek Strategy Session. Minutes later, board members came in one by one. I saw Raoul's expression changed into something that is unreadable... too unreadable. His expression is stoic, his legal counsel folder is open, tie perfectly fixed now. Some his team sat beside him and heard that they were reviewing the Q3 risks. I can't concentrate. I don't know why but I do know it has nothing to do with the fact how Rao looks. He hadn't said much all morning during the meeting. I glanced up from my notes and there, I caught him. I looked at him and saw that his gaze were on mine. Like instead of studying the powerpoint, he's studying me. That look. It was direct, focused, and intimate. I broke our eye contact and quickly grabbed my phone and discreetly under the table, I texted him. Raven: Stop looking at me like you're undressing my presentation strategy. I saw how his phone buzzed. He didn't look at it but I saw how he smirked slightly before grabbing his phone from the desk and hid it under the table while typing one-handed. Raoul: Can't help it. Your numbers are... persuasive. Raoul: So are your heels. I bit the inside of my cheek to hide the smile. I kept my eyes on the spreadsheet but I know my brain is flying and not focusing on the charts. Our company CFO took away my attention wherein he asked a question and thankfully, I answered well... Despite that... After answering his question, my foot accidentally brushed against Raoul's under the table. He didn't flinch. But I was taken a back when he leaned slightly forward in his chair and spoke. "From a legal standpoint, we're in the clear. But I'd recommend one more internal audit... for transparency." The moment he said the word transparency his eyes flicked onto mine like it was challenging me. I nodded. "Noted, Counsel. I'm all for transparency. Especially if it keeps everything on the table." I smirked lightly. "Oh," he replied. "Everything's on the table. Right where I want it." I saw how the company COO blinked. "Sorry... what was that last part?" I saw how Raoul smiled like the devil before answering. "Just... legalese..." Good thing is the meeting ended that I had to go out of that room first because it was hot in there. I don't know why the ac is not cold enough. I have to go out of town for a bit to meet deal with a partnership so after grabbing what I need from my office, I went out and look who's inside the elevator... I went inside and it was just us. "You were trouble in that meeting," I muttered the moment the doors slid shut. "You started it." He blamed me. "You're lucky I didn't kick you under table." "You're lucky I didn't pull your chair closer." A long pause. I froze and my breath hitched the moment he leaned closer to me. "We really need to stop flirting where there are witnesses." He whispered. I raised my brow, showing unbotheredness but in fact, I am. "I thought you need to be more boyfriend?" I smirked. "Oh... that was it?" He said, in pure amusement. "Then stop giving me reasons." Last thing I said before the elevator stopped at the basement parking. He didn't speak no more but before walking out of the elevator he grabbed my wrists lightly just enough to make me stop walking out. "Text me when you get there. Drive safely." He then lets go of my hand and I nodded. It was a good 30-minute drive and I am at the company where I have to do a deal. Raven: Here. Raoul: Yeah, I know. Get out of your car. My brows furrowed at that. I turned my engine's car off and went out of my car only to see Rao's car behind me. He parked his car a bit before going to me. "You followed?" "No. I'm a hologram of some sort." He sarcastically said. "Maybe you should leave the driving next time to me." I gasped. "Hey! Nothing's wrong with my driving!" He looked at me with an arched brow. "Yeah, keep on convincing yourself on that first." He winked and I scoffed. "Well, you still have to deal with my driving later going back home." I rolled my eyes and he just waved his hand like I'm a fly that he's shoo-ing. The meeting went long and when I say long, it was long. It's night time! Even though I want to eat, I don't have the appetite to do so because I'm sleepy! I want to rest! I looked outside by the glass wall and saw how strong the thunderstorm is. "We're not going home tonight. I booked a hotel nearby and luckily they had one room available." Rao went beside me and suddenly he covered me with his coat to protect me from the cold. "Why is the hotel fully packed?" I asked like a child. "It's the hotel near the airport, darling. A lot of flights got cancelled due to the weather." He explained. "Let's go," he asked for my hand and I slowly gave it to him and we both walked out of the company's building to go to his car. "What about mine?" I pointed at my car. "It's taken care of. Rest, Rave." He leaned a bit and reached for my seat belt to put it on me and made the passenger seat lean towards the back. "It's a long ride from here because of traffic so try and sleep for a bit." He said so softly that it doesn't sound like the Raoul I know. I didn't have time to protest but because of tiredness I fell asleep immediately and just woke up when he woke me up. "I have extra clothes but it's on my car..." I said, sleepily. I wanted a shower before continuing my sleep. "Shush, I told you. It's all taken care of." I heard him talking to the receptionist and said that the room he booked has two beds but as soon as he swiped the key card to our room... "One king," Raoul muttered. "How romantic." He said it so sarcastically. "Don't start." I murmured too tired to deal with him. I saw a new pack of clothes already and I quickly went inside the bathroom for a shower. After taking a hot shower, he followed next and here we are trying to compromise how to sleep tonight. "I'll report this." He stated. "Don't. Mistakes happen. Besides, there will be no funny business that will happen. It's a king-sized bed so we'll get each sides." He looked amused as to what I just said. "Did you just assume that I'll cross into enemy territory?" he smirked, playfully. I glared at him and he just raised his brow. "Kidding. No crossing the lines, Raven. I know. Article 1..." I smiled at him and I dozed off to sleep.
