Chapter 2: The Perfect Words

465 Words
I entered the school hall with my bag at my back. It’s been two weeks since I saw the girl with the beautiful voice, for some reason, I just couldn’t get her out of my head. As I concluded to join the choir, I met with the pastor and he told me about some of the requirements needed for me to be part of the church’s choir and it all sounded easy to me. When I told my family, they all took it as a joke and were laughing about it until they saw the seriousness in my face. “With your terrible voice?” Emily asked. “No voice is bad, only improper use and lack of training” I replied. “Your voice will chase the Angels out of the church!” Claire told me My dad cleared his throat as if something was stuck in it. “If joining the choir is what you wish to do, please do it” He said. I later learnt that my dad was indeed happy that I had decided to belong to a commitment which would eventually bring me out to the public. I walked through the school hall to my locker. As I was arranging my things into the locker, I heard a familiar voice, so familiar was the voice. It seemed she was speaking with two other people. I checked who it was and to my amazement it was the Choir girl. As I had guessed, she was speaking to three other girls and one of the girls called her name; Sarah. Sarah, what a beautiful name for an equally beautiful girl. Her eyes met with mine and she smiled. She smiled at me!!! That was like Heaven’s kiss to me. The bell rang signifying the start of classes. As usual, I found myself at the back seat. Luckily for me, I could see Sarah from there. I could watch her smile like the morning sun and laugh like the wonderful sounds of nature. While I was lost in thoughts, a teacher was lecturing the class on Chemistry. He noticed that I wasn’t paying attention, so he asked me to get up and define sour but what I heard was “define Sarah” I was sweating profusely, how did the lecturer know that I had anything to do with Sarah? Or did someone tell him? Or maybe he caught me staring helplessly at Sarah. “Sir, I can’t define Sarah” was what came out of my mouth. The whole class burst into uncontrollable laughter. “You should be more attentive in class, Mr. Ryan” the Teacher scolded me. “I asked you to define sour not Sarah”
