CHAPTER SIXNelita awoke after a restless night, feeling that she had had frightening dreams.
Yet, when she woke up, she could not remember what had scared her.
As Annie called her, she put a letter down beside the bed.
“It’s just come for you, Miss Nelita,” she said.
Nelita sat up and sensed that it was from Katie.
When she opened it, she read,
“Dearest, wonderful Nelita,
How can I thank you enough? I am so, so grateful and I am no longer afraid.
You are a mavellous friend and I shall never forget how kind you have been to me.
I had a terrible time with you-know-who and I am afraid that he guessed who was giving me the money.
I told him that was not true, but he did not believe me.
Anyway he can do no harm now and thank you, thank you again a million million times.
