The doors swung open and I made my way into the dining room, it was the next day. Jacob was already seated, having breakfast and just like yesterday my seat was close to him. He looked up as I walked in.
“Good morning.” He uttered.
“Morning.” I replied, sitting and reaching for the coffee. I bit into my French toast, while he continued to sip his coffee. I cleared my throat, trying to get rid of an itch that I had been feeling since I woke.
The doors opened and two of Jacob's advisors walked in.
“Prime, Luna” they greeted bowing.
Jacob glanced at them as he continued eating.
“Is there any problem?” He inquired, they glanced at each other before Benjamin took a step forward.
“Well, news has come to us that the Luna has been marked.” He said, just as I took a sip of my coffee. Jacob was quiet for a few seconds before he replied.
“Yes she has, what about it?”
“Well it is tradition that she is to move to your quarters then.”
I spat out my coffee.
“What?!” I glanced at them before turning to Jacob who looked annoyed.
“Let me get this straight, you interrupted my breakfast with my Luna because of some stupid tradition?”
David stepped forward.
“This is not a stupid tradition Jacob, it is something that has been practised by this pack for generations. Once the mate has been marked, she is to move into her mate's living abode so as to develop, strengthen and consummate the bond.” He explained.
What the actually f**k?!
It was one thing to bear his mark, but to consummate the bond… no, it was not something I was ready for.
“Traditions be damned, I will not do anything that will make my Luna uncomfortable.” Jacob snapped.
“But… the pack, there are rumours already circulating that the relationship between you and the Luna is strained, when news of the marking gets out and you two are still living separately, the wolves are bound to start questioning your control over the Luna and the contine…”
David trailed off, his eyes widening as his hand flew to his throat, clawing at an invisible force.
“A-alpha P-prime” He choked out. I frowned, glancing at the man who was choking on nothing before turning to Jacob who was glaring daggers at him, his eyes flashing between red and black. A terrified Benjamin stared at Jacob and his almost unconscious counterpart before looking at me.
“Please Luna, please”
I glanced at Jacob, slowly raising a hand and placing it on his, his skin was pale and ice cold but the sparks that shot through me were red hot and I had to stop myself from gasping at the sensation. He immediately snapped out of whatever fury he was in and … collapsed to the ground, gasping for air. He frowned, looking down at my hand which was still on his, he blinked several times before looking at the two advisors.
“Any matter concerning my Luna and I is none of your business, stick to your areas of expertise.” He uttered, his voice firm, they bowed and rushed out. I realised my hand was still on his, so I moved it away, my appetite gone. I sipped on water before getting to my feet.
“I should head to the Consulate.” I said, he nodded.
“I'll pick you up by 12pm and we'll head to the Wolf Registry.”
I left, heading to my car. Once I was settled, I pressed my forehead to the steering wheel, my body still shaking from what I had just witnessed. I knew Jacob was powerful but what I had witnessed was on another level.
Sighing, I sat up, pushing my hair away from my face and starting the car. The engine purred to life and I backed out of the garage, heading out of Yellowstone and towards the Consulate.
********* ************* ***************
I got to the Consulate, parking and heading in. I made my way into the building, smiling and nodding at the people around me before walking up the stairs to my office. I placed a hand on the wall, feeling for Liam but I couldn’t feel his wolf in the building.
Magnus? I reached out.
Yes Prime?
Where’s my cousin? I asked.
He made mention of going to a gym to blow off steam. He replied.
Alright, thank you.
I set my bags on one of the tables and sat behind my desk, flipping through the files in front of me. There was so much in my mind, regarding the missing people and Jacob but I also had a duty to my continent so I pushed everything to the back of my mind and got to work.
Halfway through my perusal of a document, the notification of a video call caught my attention, I glanced at the caller id, freezing for a few seconds as I stared at the notification on my laptop, the pen in my hand snapping into two at the rage that coursed through me.
Be calm Adelaide…
I let out a breath, closing my eyes as I did, once I was sure the anger had subsided, I opened my eyes and answered the call, a fake smile on my lips.
“Adlartok” I greeted
“Adelaide! How are you? I was so worried about you.” he said. I almost lost my smile but I held onto it.
Fucking lying good for nothing bastard.
I wanted to call him out for knowing about Jacob and I being mates and pretending like he didn’t but something held me back.
“I had to lay low, we can’t have Jacob suspect anything.” I replied, he nodded.
“Yes, that is the perfect course of action, once the dust has settled, we can try once more and this time around, I have a foolproof plan.” He said, assuring me.
“I’m sure you do.” I replied.
“Well, it is nice to see you looking so well and hearty, we will talk some other time and stay strong Adelaide, we will avenge your family and free you from that monster.” He said, I nodded, unable to say anything. If there was any monster here, it was him.
“Thank you Adlartok, talk soon.”
I ended the call, staring at the laptop screen, Jacob’s letter to Adlartok coming to my mind, he knew… they all knew yet they didn’t do anything about it…
The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth.

LIAM
I ducked, throwing a barrage of punches at my sparring partner, he took a step back, trying to keep up with my attack.
“Time out” He called out, I raised my hands and moved back.
“Dude, how are you that good?” He asked. I smirked, taking off my boxing gloves and tossing it to the floor of the boxing ring.
“Practise and I guess the Silverstone blood helps.” I answered, with my mother being a lycan, I possessed abilities a normal werewolf didn’t have.
“It's definitely the Silverstone blood” the man replied before getting out of the ring. “I'll be right back.”
I watched him walk off and I got out of the ring, grabbing my phone to check if I had any message from my father. I was pretty sure he had grown more grey hair due to Adelaide and I's antics. I picked up my water bottle to take a drink when I felt a presence behind me.
“Are you ba…” I trailed off turning and glaring at the person in front of me.
“What the f**k do you want?”
Jacob shoved his hands into the pockets of his slack and stared at me.
“I came to talk.”
I folded my arms across my chest, my glare deepening. Even after knowing he was also a victim in this, it didn't make all what had happened easier to forget.
“Well then talk.”
He straightened, pulling his hands out of his pockets and placing them behind his back.
“I would like to apologise.”
I raised a brow, pursing my lips, tilting my head to the side.
“You're going to have to be a bit more specific than that buddy. Are you sorry for the Silverstone m******e which also included my mother, or abducting me and my cousin or are you sorry for forcing Adelaide to become your Luna and marking her?”
I noticed how his eyes widened a fraction.
“I didn't know your mother was a victim.” He whispered.
“Does that make any difference? Even if she wasn't, you still killed my uncle and aunt” I spat, he nodded.
“You're right, it makes no difference and I also know apologising isn't going to bring her or any of the pack members back but I am very regretful for what happened that night.”
I stared at him, fighting the urge to tear into him.
“I also apologise for torturing you but I will not apologise for abducting you from Europe, it was the only way I could get to my mate.”
I scoffed, shaking my head yet I couldn't help but admire his grit.
"Fine, if that's all, I'll be heading back to my boxing."
"Actually..." Jacob began, making me glance at him.
"Yeah?"
"I need your help with somthing."
I raised a brow and folded my arms.
"Let's hear it then."

ADELAIDE
I was knee deep in work when the doors opened and Liam walked in.
“Welcome back, Magnus told me you went to the gym down the street.” I said, glancing at my laptop.
“Yeah” He replied, “the gym equipment in the Consulate suck.”
I raised a brow at that.
“Oh, I'll have someone replace them.”
He nodded, folding his arms. I glanced at them, noticing the expression on his face, his brows was knitted and though he was here with me, it seemed like his mind was miles away.
“What's wrong?”
He blinked, coming back to the present before clearing his throat.
“Jacob came to visit me at the gym.”
My fingers stilled over the keypads, brows furrowed at his words, wondering what he could possibly want with my cousin especially after what had happened between them.
“What did he want?”
“He wanted to apologise for the incident at Yellowstone. I feel like I'm living in an alternate universe right now.” He answered. “Do you think he's up to something?”
I stared at him, fiddling with my pen.
“Yesterday, when I asked him what made him change and why he was suddenly being so civil, he made mention of him realising I was also a victim in all this… I don't think he has any hidden agenda.”
“Huh… who would have thought.” Liam mumbled. I glanced at the time just as the door opened and Magnus’ assistant walked in.
“Alpha Prime, Jacob Mont Blanc is waiting for you.” She informed me.
“Alright, tell him I'll be right there.” I replied, gathering my jacket and bag.
“You're heading home already?” He inquired. I shook my head.
“No, I'm going to the Wolf Registry with Jacob.”
He raised a brow
“The wolf Registry?”
“Yes” I turned to Liam, brushing my hair away from my face. “I told him about the missing wolves, you know how most of the families said something along the lines of fixing a great injustice?”
“Yeah, I remember.”
“Well Nanna Ur said the same thing to Jacob.”
Liam sat up at that.
“She did?! You think there's a connection?”
“Yes, right now I'm trying to find out where the wolves originated from. There's a possibility they have a common ancestor.” I explained.
“Makes sense.” He replied.
“I'll let you know how it goes.”
With that, I shrugged on my jacket and made my way out of my office, down the stairs to the waiting area where Jacob was standing, looking at the large Silverstone Family tree.
“I'm here.”
He turned.
“Ready?”
“Yes.”
I followed him out to his car, we got in and he drove out of the Consulate premises onto the main road. I looked at the passing buildings before glancing over at him, he was at ease, his left hand on the gear box, the other on the steering wheel. The drive was quiet and I could feel the tendrils of the bond wrapping around my heart and soul, whispering into my ears.
Touch him,
You know you want to
Don’t you want to feel his embrace?
I closed my eyes, ignoring the whispers and the bond.
Stop it Adelaide, you’re stronger than the mating bond.
************* ************* ***********
The car slowed down and I looked up to see the massive five storey building with the name engraved on it
Mont Blanc Wolf Registry Complex
I stepped out of the car, staring at it.
“This way”
Jacob led me into the building, the security bowing as we passed. Several wolves stopped in their tracks, paying their respect to Jacob who nodded in return. I could feel their eyes on me, this was probably my third or fourth outing with Jacob. I knew most of them didn’t like me and I didn’t blame them, I had on National tv called their Alpha Prime, a murderer and a kidnapper.
We stepped into the elevator, he pressed on a button with the word ARCH.
The elevator ride was smooth and quiet before we stepped out onto the floor. I could immediately tell we were underground yet it was cool, extremely ventilated and not at all stuffy. He led me down the hall, there were doors on both sides. He pulled the door open and I brushed past him into the archives, the smell of dust and old books tickled my nose.
“Jonas?” He called out, and a middle aged man appeared from the corner.
“Yes Prime?”
His eyes widened at the sight of me and he bowed.
“Luna Prime, it is a pleasure to meet you. Welcome to the archives. We have the largest wolf registry in the world.”
I raised a brow at that, glancing at Jacob who smirked, clearly proud about that.
“Jonas here is the keeper of the Registry, he'll show you the books and family trees while I attend my meeting.”
I nodded, watching him walk out of the door.
“Ready Luna?” He asked.
“Yes.”
Fingers crossed, I find something tangible.

HOURS LATER
I flipped through what was probably the 15th book, the sound of the delicate and ancient papers rustling under my glove covered fingers. I sighed, glancing through the index of names. There was nothing regarding any of the families, no common ancestor, nothing. It was almost as if they had appeared from thin air.
Don't be absurd Adelaide.
I sighed and closed the book, staring at the stacks of books I had gone through.
So recap
There is no trace of them in Europe and none in North America…
Maybe another continent then…
I let out a groan, running my fingers through my hair. I brought out my phone, scrolling through my emails to the one I had received from the European Registry, my eyes scanning over the contents again.
No trace of any of the families after the 3rd generation…
And it was clear that they had not migrated from North America.
The doors opened and I glanced up to see Jacob walking in.
“Any luck?” He inquired, coming to stand next to me. I shook my head.
“None, from what I have gone through, they didn't emanate from North America.” I replied. He bent forward, his arm brushing against my shoulder as he flipped through one of the books. I closed my eyes, stifling the urge to lean into him, the blasted bond was making things harder.
“I think there's something that can help ease our search, come on.”
I got up and followed him out of the archives towards another section, we stopped in front of a security door and I watched as he pressed his hand on the sensor. The sensor beeped and the door slid open, we walked in and I noticed this part of the archives was even cooler than the other part.
I followed him down the hall, the walls were made of glass and I could see several large black and blue… on either side as we continued walking. He finally came to a stop in front of a door which he opened and stood aside.
I stepped in and he followed. I stared at the massive screen in front of me, two men and a woman were standing in front of it. They turned to us, bowing and greeting before they returned back to their task.
“What is this?” I asked.
“This is Intellisys, a supercomputer a group of engineers and I created. It has a lot of functions but its primary function is to track the migratory patterns of wolves around the continents.” He explained, my eyes widened and I took a step forward, my lips parted in awe.
“How are you able to get that kind of information? Did you enter into an agreement with other Alpha Primes” I asked, turning to him. He shoved his hands into his pockets. The look on his face told me there was no agreement of such.
“So you're spying into other continents?” I asked, arching a brow. “Do you realise how unethical that is?”
It was his turn to raise a brow at me and I suddenly remembered just who I was talking to. Jacob didn't care about what was ethical or not.
“Forget I said anything… So how is this going to help me find my missing wolves?” I inquired. He gestured towards one of the men who walked over to us.
“Yes Prime?”
“This is Samuel, the head data scientist.” Jacob introduced, I nodded, shaking Samuel’s outstretched hand.
“It’s nice to meet you.”
I watched as Jacob filled him in without telling him everything.
“We need to find a common ancestry for the missing wolves, the Luna Prime will send you an email with all the information you need.” Jacob instructed him, Samuel nodded.
“Yes Prime.”
Samuel provided me with his email address and I brought out my phone, forwarding everything relating to the missing wolves to him.
“Got it.”
“When can we expect results?” Jacob inquired.
“It depends on the complexity of the problem but maybe in a few days, 5 days at most.” He answered.
“I can work with that.” I uttered.
“Alright then, you'll send the report of your search directly to the Silverstone's Consulate.” Jacob instructed him.
“Of course Alpha, and a copy will be sent to…”
“No” Jacob cut him off “no copy should be sent to me, if my Luna deems it fit for me to know then I will know.” He stated, I stared at him, surprised by his words. I didn’t think he would ever say anything like that.
Just who are you Jacob Mont Blanc?
I was deep in thought as I followed Jacob back to the ground floor, to the car. He opened the door for me and I got in, my eyes on my hands as he rounded the car and got in. The car purred to life and he pulled onto the road. The drive was silent for a bit with just one question tugging at me. I tried to ignore it but it was just too strong.
“Why?” I asked, turning to him.
“Why what?”
“Why did you create a super computer?”
He clenched his jaw, his grip tightening on the wheel.
“It was after the incident at Silverstone… I was in denial… I refused to believe you were dead… I didn't want to accept it. I started thinking of possible outcomes… maybe your father had already smuggled you out to another continent under another name, I knew none of the Alpha Primes would help so I built Intellisys to help me find you… for years I personally monitored it, investigating any suspicious migration but to no avail…”
He trailed off, his eyes on the road. I swallowed hard, his words left me shocked, he had built a supercomputer just to find me… it felt unreal, something out of a story book. With no words, I kept silent, staring at the passing buildings as he drove us back to the Consulate.
He pulled to a stop in front of the building and we sat in silence, so many things had happened between us these past few days and I had no idea how to react.
“Thank you.” I whispered, before getting out of the car.
“I'll see you at home.” He replied, before driving off. I watched him leave before I made my way up the stone stairs into the building. I headed to my office where Liam was on a call.
“Yeah, she's here.” He said getting to his feet.
“Who is it?” I mouthed.
“Dad.”
My heart slammed in my chest, I had not spoken to Uncle Pete in ages and so much had happened. I collected the phone from Liam.
“H-hello Uncle Pete”
