Uncle Pete's voice flowed into my ear.
“Adelaide, how are you? I've been so worried.”
Something about his voice reminded me so much of home and I found myself overtaken by a myriad of emotions causing havoc within me.
“H-hi Uncle Pete. I whispered, blinking back my tears. “I'm such an awful niece.”
“Don't you dare speak ill of my favourite niece, you have been very busy running a continent, it's completely understandable.” He said, pausing a bit before continuing.
“How are you Addy?”
Something about his question brought tears to my eyes, the sudden urge to fly back home and be engulfed in his arms.
“I… I'm hanging in there Uncle Pete.” I whispered, turning my back to Liam as the tears began to roll down my cheeks. I wiped them away.
“It's hard to be very honest, so much has happened that has made me question everything. I feel as if I don’t know anything again, like the rug has been pulled from under my feet.”
“Oh Addie…”
I looked up at the ceiling, blinking back the tears.
“Is there something I can do to help you?” He asked.
“I really don't know Uncle Pete, there's so many questions and no one to provide me with the answers.” I whispered, he was silent for a bit before he spoke up.
“What if I check the Silverstone Vault? Maybe there’s something that can provide you with some answers.” He suggested.
After the m******e, Uncle Pete had everything belonging to my parents placed in a vault for safe keeping. He had offered me a key but I had refused, not wanting anything to do with the vault, not even wanting to accept that my parents were actually gone.
“I don't want to inconvenience you.” I replied.
“Nonsense child, you are never an inconvenience. I'll go down to the vault myself and if there is anything I can find that will be useful, I will send it out to you as soon as possible.” He said, his words providing me with the warmth and hope I didn't even know I needed.
“Thank you Uncle Pete.”
“Don’t thank me Addy, I will do everything possible to make sure you get to the bottom of this mystery. I’ll talk to you soon, alright?”
“Okay Uncle Pete and I’m sorry I’m keeping Liam away from his duties back in Ridgeway.”
“None of that Adelaide, I feel better knowing that a familiar face is there with you.” He said, I smiled and handed the phone back to Liam who said his goodbyes to his father before turning to me once more.
“So, how did it go?” He asked as I sat down. I stared at him, not knowing where to start from.
“Well, I couldn’t find anything in the Archives but…” I trailed off, Liam leaned forward, his elbows on my table.
“But?” He prompted.
“He has a super computer that tracks werewolf migration patterns, so I left the information with one of the scientists.”
Liam let out a low whistle.
“A super computer?! That’s impressive.” He tilted his head to the side, eyes narrowed. “Why do I feel like you’re not telling me the whole thing?”
I sighed, hating how he knew me so well.
“I asked him why he had a supercomputer for that specific purpose and he said he built it after Silverstone. A part of him refused to believe I was actually dead and he thought he could use it to find me if I had been smuggled to another continent.” I whispered, Liam parted his lips in shock.
“Talk about determination.”
I had to chuckle at that, though it was laced with pain, all these could have been avoided.
“Speaking of which, guess who called?”
Liam folded his arms.
“I’m not good with guesses but seeing as not everyone has direct access to you, I would say fucktard from Antarctica.”
I nodded.
“What did he want?”
“He wanted to check up on me.” I replied, rolling my eyes. “I had to reel myself in from snapping at him. How can someone be so comfortable pretending when he knows the truth?”
“So what are you going to do about him?” He asked, I fiddled with my pen, staring at the window.
“I have no idea for now but Adlartok can’t know that I have been marked or that I know the truth. As far as he knows, I still hate Jacob and I want him dead, but be rest assured, Adlartok and everyone involved will pay.”

I drove through Yellowstone, towards Jacob’s cottage when I spied Delilah walking, I slowed down, honking the horn, she turned, confused before smiling when she realised it was me.
“Good evening Ms Adelaide.”
“Good evening Delilah, where are you headed?” I asked.
“Alpha Prime’s cottage, I have to get your laundry.” she answered.
“Oh come on then.” I said, gesturing for her to get in, she got in and I pulled back onto the road.
“How are you? I feel like I haven't seen you in ages.” I asked, glancing at her. She shrugged, fiddling with her hands.
“I've mostly been at home, developing pictures and just helping my mum out.” She replied.
A foreign emotion tugged at my heart due to her words and I had to stop myself from massaging my chest.
“And your friends?” I prompted.
She sighed and looked out of the window.
“I think you should know that I don't have any.” She mumbled. Not knowing what else to say, I kept quiet. I wasn't in the best place to give her any advice on friends or how to be outgoing when my only close companion for years had been Liam.
****
We got to the cottage and I parked in the garage. She grabbed my bags and headed into the house. I followed, my eyes on my phone, reading an email from Magnus.
“Welcome back.”
I looked up to see Jacob leaning against the door frame.
“Thank you.” I replied, he pushed himself off the door frame and approached me, my heart leapt into my throat as he stopped in front of me, the bond pulsating and throbbing between us.
“I would love for you to join me for dinner tonight.”
I raised a brow, this was the first time he was actually asking me to have dinner with him and not demanding. I considered his words before nodding.
“Alright, is there any dress code?” I asked, he shook his head. His eyes slowly raked over my figure, and I had to stop myself from becoming a puddle on the floor at the intense look in his eyes.
“You're free to dress as you like ” He replied, I could only nod, my mouth was completely dry. The corner of his lips curled up in a small smile.
Damn it Adelaide!!! How is he able to fluster you?!
“Till then, Adelaide.” He said, brushing past me. My eyes fluttered close as a wave of his subtle scent washed over me. It was like nothing I had ever smelled.
Holy molly… no one should smell that good.
I ignored my beast who wanted nothing more than to trot after him like some lost puppy.
Stop it!
I snapped at her, she growled, snapping back at me, making her opinion known through a myriad of feelings and images. I sighed and continued on to my room where Delilah was placing my clothes in a laundry basket.
“Let me get out of this clothes” I said, shrugging off my jacket and handing it to her.
“Okay, do you need help?” she asked.
“Thank you but no.” I replied, walking into the bathroom. “Could you grab me some lounge wear though?” I called out before stripping out of my clothes and stepping into the shower. I let out a sigh, washing away the day's grime. A few minutes later, I walked out and handed Delilah my dirty clothes, she zipped up the bag about to leave.
“Delilah?” I asked, making her turn to me.
“Yes Ms Adelaide?”
“You know if anyone is bothering you, you can tell me.” I uttered, she pressed her lips together and nodded.
“I know.”
I smiled at her and she smiled back, some of the light sparkling in her eyes. I watched her leave before I decided to get some much needed rest.
***
I made my way downstairs, looking at my outfit for the tenth time.
He said you could wear whatever you wanted so why are you overthinking this?!
I huffed, tugging at the material of my lounge wear. It was just dinner between him and I. I got to the dining room when a guard stopped me.
“Prime is in the kitchen.” He informed me. I raised a brow at that, wondering what Jacob was doing there before deciding to head over.
I made my way to the kitchen, almost to the door when I was hit with a familiar scent that had my mouth watering.
Is that… no way…
I hastened my steps, stepping into the kitchen. A gasp escaped my lips at the sight in front of me. The kitchen had been rearranged making it more spacious. An old woman was bent over, staring at the display. From her scent, I could tell she was a European Wolf.
“Will this work?” Jacob asked, holding up a box of flour.
I frowned, wondering what was going on, the old woman straightened up, about to answer when she noticed me.
“Alpha Prime” She greeted, bowing deeply.
“Hello.” I said, smiling at her before glancing at Jacob who was staring at me.
“What's going on?”
Jacob handed over the box to the woman before gesturing to the door, i followed him.
“I… I thought we could have some Sunday roast for dinner.” He explained. I raised a brow at his words.
“Sunday roast for dinner? I didn't know it was a thing here in America.”
He shook his head.
“It isn't but I would like to incorporate it into the pack, it's only proper to make my Luna feel as welcome as possible, and that should include the food made.”
Oh wow…
I parted my lips, but no words came out. I cleared my throat.
“I- I haven't had Sunday roast in ages…” I whispered, thinking back to the last time I had it…
The night of the m******e…
After that, everything about the roast reminded me of the night and I wanted nothing to do with it.
I shook my head, pushing the memories away before forcing a smile.
“Sunday roast sounds wonderful.”
He smiled back.
“You can head back to the dining room, we should be done in a few minutes.” He suggested, I shake my head.
“I’d like to stay if you don't mind.”
He nodded and led me back into the kitchen where the old woman was making the Yorkshire pudding batter.
“Adelaide, this is Ivy, she owns one of the best British pubs around.”
“Oh Alpha Jacob, you flatter me.” The woman replied, chuckling.
“It's nice to meet you Ivy.” I said.
“The pleasure is all mine Prime Adelaide, your cousin has become a regular in my pub.”
I raised my brow at that, it made sense that Liam would find a pub that sold Sunday Roast, he was obsessed with it.
“Alright, my work is almost done here” She said, pouring the batter into the pan and placing it in the oven.
“This should be done in 25 minutes and then you've gotten yourself a full Sunday roast.” She instructed as she began to gather her things.
“Noted, thank you for coming out here on such short notice.” Jacob said, walking over and shaking her hand. She smiled and nodded.
“It's a pleasure, anything for The Alpha Prime to get a piece of home.” She replied before turning to me and bowing.
“It's an honour to serve you.”
I nodded, smiling at her just as two guards came in and helped her with her bags. I glanced around the table, admiring the different dishes that made up the roast.
“This smells amazing.” I whispered, rounding the table. I picked up a fork and tasted the crispy baked potatoes.
“Oh wow, that's really good, it reminds me so much of home.”
“I'm glad I could offer you a taste of home then.” He said.
“Try some?” I offered, holding up a fork full of the potatoes. He walked over, stopping in front of me. I gasped as he placed a hand on mine and lifted the fork and my hand to his mouth. I watched, my breath hitched as his lips closed around the fork, my eyes following the movement.
Oh crud… why is everything he does so sexy?
“Very flavourful” He commented, his tongue darting out to lick his bottom lip, the action going straight to my nether region. His eyes met mine, red bleeding into his hazel coloured pupils, his nostrils flaring slightly.
Oh s**t…
My eyes widened as I realised he could probably smell my arousal and the blasted bond wasn't helping matters, instead it was amplifying it.
Fuck f**k f**k!!!
I backed away from him.
Think of anything Adelaide! Meetings, Adlartok's betrayal, the missing wolves…
Jacob took a step closer.
Fuck! It's not working.
The loud beep of the oven made me jump.
“The puddings’ done!” I announced as he towered over me, until I was between his and the counter.
“I'm sure the pudding can wait.” He whispered, leaning down and pressing his nose to my shoulder, his palms on either side of the wall, caging me in.
“B-but..” I stuttered as he ran his nose along my neck, inhaling deeply.
“You smell f*****g delicious.” He uttered, his voice deep and husky. “Sweet with the right amount of tangy”
My eyes fluttered closed and a soft moan escaped my lips.
“J- Jacob”
“Hmmm?” He pressed several kisses up and down the length of my neck, nipping at his mark. My gasp filled the kitchen and I slapped a hand over my mouth knowing there were guards around.
“Don't hide your voice from me, I want to hear every whimper, gasp and moans I evoke from you.”
His tongue darted out to trace the outer lines of his mark, my legs gave out, he immediately grabbed my thighs and lifted me up, placing me on the counter.
“How was I ever able to resist you in the first place?” He mumbled against my neck, his hands slipping underneath my shirt.
“I-it's the b-bond” I stammered.
“Should have marked you ages ago then.” He groaned, his hands grabbing my butt and pulling me onto his hard on.
“Jacob!” I cried out, as my core met his hard on.
“That's it… let me hear you.” He whispered, thrusting against me. I moaned, my eyes fluttering close as he kissed around my mark. The sensations coursing through me were wreaking havoc within me.
I closed my eyes, drowning in sensations I had never felt before.
“Eyes on me baby”
I opened my eyes, meeting his eyes, his brows were knitted, his lips slightly parted as he pressed his forehead to mine.
“I-I can't… too much…” I whimper feeling a tension building inside me, an unfamiliar sensation that seems to grow stronger with every passing moment.
“Shh… it's okay baby, don't fight it” he whispered, pressing soft kisses along the side of my face, his thrusting, steady. “Just let yourself go.”
I could feel my heart beating faster, my breathing fast and shallow, almost as if I wasn’t getting enough oxygen.
“I- I need to use the toilet” I cry out, feeling a mounting pressure in my pelvis.
“It's not pee, baby… don't fight it.” He whispered, cupping my face and kissing the corner of my mouth.
“Ah… oh god…” I choke out as I was hit by the most intense feeling of pleasure ever. My lips parted in a silent scream. Jacob growled, burying his face in my neck, thrusting faster until he stilled, a low rumble escaping him. I sagged against him, feeling boneless, as I floated back to earth.
The smoke detector blared making us jump away from each other.
“s**t!!!”
Jacob opened the oven and brought out the Yorkshire pudding. We both stared at it.
“I… the middle looks salvageable.” I whispered, my breath still shaky. I got down from the table, feeling sticky down there.
“I…um.. I'm going to go… change.” I mumbled, he nodded, glancing at me. His eyes were a mixture of red and hazel, I could still see the desire burning in his eyes. I cleared my throat and made my way out of the kitchen back up to my room.
I walked into the bathroom and stared at my reflection, my cheeks were rosy, my eyes bright. I tugged my trousers and underwear down before cleaning myself.
An orgasm..
I had read about it but I had never experienced one before. The first and only time I had done anything was with Harry after we had marked each other and it had been quick… we had both been virgins.
The beast growled, annoyed that I was comparing my first time with this magical experience.
I sighed and changed my underwear, my body still trembling. I splashed water on my face before heading back downstairs. Jacob was walking out of the kitchen, holding two plates, he had also changed his sweatpants. The implication made my face incredibly warm.
I expected him to lead me to the dining room, instead he led me to an alcove that looked very private and cosy. He set the plates on the table and helped me into a chair before sitting down.
“So how do you eat this?” He asked, staring at the full plate making me smile.
“Well, some people use a fork and knife, some use the Yorkshire pudding as a base but I prefer using it to scoop the meat, veggies and gravy.” I explained, tearing some of the pudding and showing him. The look of concentration on his face was almost adorable.
I bit into the loaded pudding, moaning at the taste.
“It's a bit messy but in my opinion, it's the best way to eat a Sunday roast.”
He nodded and I watched as he copied me, and took a bite.
“So what do you think?”
He chewed and swallowed.
“I'll have to say, the British food slander is baseless.”
I laughed at his reply.
“I'm glad to hear that.” I said as we continued eating.
“Do you just have this on Sunday? Is that why it's called a Sunday roast?” He inquired.
“Historically yes, it was a meal reserved for Sundays but now we have it all the time.” I explained. He nodded and we continued to eat in silence.
“I am hosting a gala.” He stated. I raised a brow, about to part my lips.
“Don't worry, you don't need to plan it.” He assured me making me relax. Planning galas was not my thing, Delilah did the brunt of the work last time.
“What's the gala for?” I asked. He took a sip of his water before he looked at me.
“We recently acquired the Ushuaia port in Argentina as part of my free trade agreement with the South American Alpha Prime and I wish to celebrate it.”
“Is the port of any significance?” I inquired.
“Not for me.” He replied cryptically, smiling. Something about his smile sucked whatever warmth was around us. It was sinister and terrifying and chilled me to my core.
“W-when are you hosting the gala?” I asked.
“In two days. I take it, you'll need to go shopping?”
I shook my head.
“No, I still have dresses from the last gala that I didn't wear.” I said, he nodded and continued to eat. I forced myself to clear my plate before getting to my feet.
“I have some work to do, but this was nice. Thank you.”
He nodded, the warmth flooding back into his eyes before he got to his feet too and taking my plate from me.
“It's the least I could do.”
I watched him walk off to the kitchen while I made my way towards the stairs to my room. My mind was still on his words.
What could he possibly want with Ushuaia Port? If it was of no significance to him then why did he acquire it?
Once I got to my room, I grabbed my phone and looked up Ushuaia Port.
Port located on the East Coast of Argentina….
I scanned through the information until I came to a stop, my eyes wide.
Closest port to the continent of Antarctica.
No… he couldn't…
I looked up Adlartok and the Ushuaia Port, tapping on the first news article I saw.
"Arctic Corporation Partners with Argentina to Drive Sustainable Growth”
There was a picture of Adlartok and the South American Alpha Prime.
I knew Arctic Corporation was a decoy Adlartok used when doing business with humans, it was the same thing with every Alpha Prime. We all had a decoy company we used to trade with humans.
I read through the article.
"Arctic Corporation Secures Ushuaia Port Access in New Sustainability Partnership with Argentina”
Oh f**k…
Is the port of any significance?
Not for me
Jacob wanted control of the port because of Adlartok.
Was this because of what happened?
A small smirk crept onto my lips at the thought of Jacob having one up on the f*****g bastard.
It's high time he got exactly what he deserved.
