JACOB "Is everything ready for Kamilla's arrival?" I inquired. "Yes, we have her room ready, and a cabin for her men. A car will pick them up from the airport and bring them here." Tony relayed. I nodded, closing my laptop. "How do you think Adelaide will react to Kamilla?" Tony asked, glancing at me, I had thought of that. Kamilla and I's relationship was unique to say the least, she had become a beacon of hope for me after the incident at Silverstone. "As long as she doesn't go snooping around then I'm sure everything will be fine." I replied, getting to my feet. "And the Resurgam? Do you still need to find it?" I paused, finding the artefact had been my main focus before Adelaide came into play, I had obsessed over it. "Yes, I would rather it be in my possession than have it buried somewhere for any fool to find." He nodded and for a moment, there was silence until it was disrupted by ear piercing screams. My eyes snapped to Tony's ADELAIDE!!! I vaulted over my table, rushing past Tony, my surroundings blurring as I reached her room in a matter of seconds. I kicked the door in and found her lying on the floor. There was something odd about her scent, some sort of rot clung to it, wrapping itself around her scent. I approached her, kneeling beside her prone form, sweat clung to her skin, I leaned down, sniffing, trying to locate the stench. It's coming from her neck. I moved her hair aside, revealing a bandaid. What the... I could see the skin around the bandaid was an angry red, the veins around it blackened. "Prime?" Tony asked, rushing into the room. "What happened? Should I get the doctor?" I ignored him, pulling off the bandaid and I was hit by the full stench of the rot. "Tony?" "Yes Prime." "Did you see my Luna Prime ingest my blood?" I inquired. "Uh, no, I went to get the doctor for her cousin but I told her to. What happened?" I looked down at the festering wound, the two puncture marks oozed a black thick liquid. "Shit... f**k. I'm going to get the doctor." Tony cursed, staring at her neck. "No need." I replied, my fingernail elongating into a claw. I pulled her closer to me, supporting her head and neck with my arm. She was cold, sweaty and pale. The dark circles prominent against her pale skin. I rolled up my sleeve, exposing my arm and ran the claw along my wrist, blood pooling from the cut. I pressed my wrist to her lips. "Come on Adelaide." I whispered, reaching into her mind, it was blank, she was far too deep in her unconsciousness for me to control her. I brought my wrist to my mouth, sucking out as much blood as I could. Forgive me. Leaning, I pressed my lips to her, forcing her lips and teeth apart before pushing the blood into her mouth. She immediately swallowed thanks to the swallow reflex. "Run a bath." I instructed Tony who nodded and walked into her bathroom. I stroked her hair, watching and waiting for any reaction. "Come on Adelaide." I bit into my already healed wrist again and gave her more blood, she jerked and I pulled back, her eyes were still closed but her complexion was returning. I reached down to wipe the excess blood away when her eyes snapped open, glowing an ethereal silver, a sign that her beast was awake. "Hello there" She stared at me, not saying a word, her eyes moved to my hand which I slowly kept to the side. "The bath's rea..." "Don't." I growled, stopping him but it was too late, he had caught her attention. Her head snapped towards Tony, a low warning growl rumbling in her throat. "P-prime?" He stuttered. Don't look her in the eyes, Adelaide's still unconscious but her beast is awake and is ready to pounce on anything that moves. So if you want to live, you'd do exactly as I say. I instructed. O-okay. Look at the ground, bare your neck for her and slowly kneel. Do it slowly. She sat up, her body primed for an attack. She observed him, as he made himself subservient, her growls lessened once she had ascertained he wasn't a threat to her. "Hey..." I whispered, she turned back to me, her head c****d to the side. "Is Adelaide there? Can I talk to her?" I inquired, she growled, projecting an image into my mind of Adelaide sleeping. "She's still asleep?" "Can you help me wake her up." Her growl increased in depth and she bared her fangs at me. I raised my hands in surrender. "Alright... she needs to rest, I understand, I'm sorry for being inconsiderate." I whispered. She huffed before brushing up against my hand. I glanced at Tony who looked just as surprised as I was, a whine escaped her lips. "It's fine. I understand why you had to snap at me. You’re just protecting her." I gently stroked her hair and her back, feeling her body sag against mine, her tense muscles relaxing. "That's it... you're safe." I whispered, watching as her eyes fluttered close and her breathing evened out. I gently stood up with her clinging to my front, her legs wrapped my waist. Tony, you can go now. He bowed, glancing at Adelaide before walking out. I made my way to the bathroom, stroking her hair. I stopped at the bathtub that had been filled with warm water. I pulled her back a bit, wanting to set her on the counter when she let out a warning growl, her claws digging into my flesh. "I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere." The growl in her chest intensified and I knew if I pushed her any further, I would have a very angry lycan to deal with. Sighing, I toed my shoes off and stepped into the bath, I sank into the water, holding onto Adelaide, the soothing warm water made her claws retract. She let out a moan, nuzzling into me. I leaned back a little, pulling her shirt over her head and tossing it to the side. She pressed herself to me and I had to grit my teeth at the softness of her breasts against my chest. Her hot breath fanned my neck. I looked up at the ceiling as I felt myself hardening. Seriously?! Now is not the time. Adelaide shifted in her sleep, her underwear covered butt brushing against me. Damn it woman!! You're not making this any easier I dug my fingers into her hips to stop her from making any more movements. Think of anything… finances, boring meetings with the Alphas, Adlartok's very punchable face… I felt myself soften and a relieved sigh escaped my lips. I poured the water over her shoulders, washing away the grime. Using my wet hand, I wiped the sweat off her face. Once I was sure she was clean, I scooped her out of the water and stepped out of the tub, throwing a towel over her to cover her body before making my way out of the room, down the hall and up a different hidden short set of steps to my room. I sat on the sofa, with her in my arms, methodically wiped her dry, counting from numbers in my head, anything to distract me from the soft and warm body pressed against me. Once I was sure she was all dry, I grabbed a t-shirt on the arm of the sofa and pulled it over her, surrounding her with my scent. I padded over to the bed and placed her on it, she whined softly before curling into a ball. I sighed, walking to my bathroom, I stripped out of the wet clothes and pulled on sweatpants before heading back to my bed. I got in, she immediately sought me out, her hands wrapping around my arm. I stared at her sleeping form, reaching over to brush the hair away from her face, I watched her sleep, keeping guard as the night progressed. ****************** ****************** ****************** “No... please... no” My eyes snapped open and I turned my attention to Adelaide, her features showing distress, she twisted and turned, mumbling under her breath “Stop... I didn't mean to… you have to believe me.” A whine escaped her lips, the expression on her face growing more and more distressed with each passing second. I reached over to gently shake her awake when I paused, an idea forming in my head. I swallowed, staring down at her sleeping form as I calculated the risks. If it worked, she wouldn't experience any nightmare ever again, and if it didn't... well she could either continue having nightmares or I would have succeeded in destroying my mate's mental capacity. The beast within me growled, clearly not in approval with what I had planned but leaving her lying there in the throes of what was clearly a traumatising nightmare was also not an option. I gritted my teeth, making my decision. I sat up, pulling her into my arms and placed my pointer and index fingers against her temple before closing my eyes. Here goes nothing... I pushed into her mind and found myself stumbling into her nightmare. I appeared in a forest, it was dark and eerie, the trees around me looming like silent sentinels in the shadows. The air was thick with a sense of dread. As I looked around, desperately trying to figure out where I was, the sound of terrified cries echoed through the night. The sound sent a chill down my spine, and I knew that something terrible was happening nearby. Adelaide… “Please!!! I'm sorry. Why are you doing this to me?!” I dashed through the forest, the branches clawed at my flesh, their thorns tearing into my skin and leaving behind trails of warm, sticky blood. I could hear her anguished cries getting louder, the terror in her voice fueling my desperation to reach her. Finally, I burst into a secluded clearing, where I found her on her knees, surrounded by shadowy figures that were clawing and snarling at her. As I stepped closer, they turned to me, their malignant gaze lingering on me as I walked past them, feeling the cold, malevolent energy radiating off them as I approached Adelaide, I knelt in front of her. "Adelaide?" I whispered "It's alright, no one's going to hurt you ever again." She shook her head, her head in between her knees. "Y-you're just saying that to distract me, you're one of them." She said, I placed a hand on hers making her stiffen. "Does my touch feel like theirs?" I inquired, she slowly raised her head and I was met with a teary eyed 18 year old Adelaide. She shook her head, her terror-filled eyes fixed on the shadows surrounding us but never taking another step forward, her eyes moved back to me. "H-how did you do that? W-who are you?" She asked, I smiled, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Someone who's going to help stop the shadows and monsters from ever bothering you again." I answered. Her eyes widened, lips parted slightly. "Really? How are you going to do that?" "Do you trust me?" I asked, she glanced at the growling and snarling shadows before nodding. "I don't know why but I do." She replied softly. "Good, close your eyes." She followed my instructions as I placed my fingers on her temple, delving into her mind to access her memories of the m******e. As I relived the horror from her, I felt her fear and pain, transforming into tangible shadows that clung to me like parasites, feeding off my emotions. I forcibly shook them off and eliminated the summoned ghosts and shadows before conducting another thorough sweep of the memories, ensuring that no shadow remained in her mind, finally, I pulled out. "All done." I whispered. She opened her eyes and looked around, the shadows had vanished, the skeletal forest now busting with life. The oppressive atmosphere had lifted, giving way to a sense of tranquillity and peace. "They're all gone." She whispered in awe before flinging herself on me, wrapping her arms around my neck. "Thank you, thank you so much." I smiled and wrapped my arm around her waist. "It's the least I could do, Adelaide." After all, I had caused you so much trauma. She pulled back. "Who are you? Tell me your name." She urged, grabbing my hand. "Don't worry about that." I leaned forward and pressed a kiss on her forehead even as I felt pure unadulterated anger towards Charles for preventing me from experiencing this with her. I let out a sigh, savouring the moment before pulling out of her mind and back to the present. I stared down at her, she was calm and her breathing had evened out. I gently stroked her skin, my mind going back to her memories. I couldn't believe she had had to live with those nightmares for years, it was a wonder she was still functioning well. I caressed the dark circles underneath her eyes as Tony's words came back to me. He was right... I had been so wrapped up in my anger against her father to realise she was as much of a victim as I was and she had every right to act the way she did, it wasn't as if I made her feel welcomed to Yellowstone. I watched as she curled into me once more, her head resting to my arm. I laid my hand on her waist, stroking her through my shirt as I watched her sleep peacefully. (PLEASE READ THE AUTHOR'S NOTE)
