"My daughter won't be joining us," Mommy said to the phone. "She's too young to understand any of this." Understand what? "This is not for her sake -- it's for mine! I don't want to tell her how I'm doing the right thing and then teach her everything I know!" "Teach me what, mommy?" I asked and Mommy turned to me. "I'll call you back," she mumbled and hung up. "Hey, pumpkin." "Teach me what?" I repeated. Mommy sighed and rubbed her temple. She always did that when she was irritated. "Nothing." "Why are you lying to me!?" "I'm not lying, Aria! Now go to your room!" I ran upstairs. Mommy and daddy were always hiding things from me. They would whisper and tell me to go to my room all the time when I asked them questions. "Do you think mommy and daddy hate me, Sniffles?" I asked my elephant and hugged him. "I think so." I watched Sniffles as he spoke to me. "You're right!" I exclaimed. "Mommy and daddy are going to tell me!" I stomped out of my room and opened their door. "She isn't coming, Patrick!" Mommy yelled. "Why not!?" Daddy yelled back. "She's our little girl! I don't want to lose her because of your selfishness!" There was more yelling until I walked into the room. "Stop yelling!" I cried. "Why don't you want me going with you!" Mommy rolled her eyes and walked up to me. "What did you hear?" She asked angrily. "A lot!" I cried. "You can't tell me not to go with you! You are mommy and daddy! We can live happily ever after together and--" There was a loud silence when mommy slapped me. I shot up from the bed and looked around. The room was empty and the only sounds heard were my breathing and my phone buzzing. Picking Sniffles up from the ground, I wiped the little beads of sweat on my forehead away and I let out a burp. I picked up the call. "Hello?" I muttered. "Come to my room," Dylan said. "I want to cuddle." I laughed softly and hung up. Lazy ass. Grabbing my silk blankets and wrapping it around my body. I opened the door and walked down the hall to Dylan's room. When I opened the door, Dylan pulled me in and closed the door. I laughed as I was thrown on the bed, Dylan crawling into the covers and wrapping his arms around my body, pulling me closer to him. "Do you think that we're going to be okay?" I asked Dylan and turned myself around, one of my legs wrapping around his waist. "With the shadow hounds?" Dylan hummed and kissed my forehead. "Yeah. We're badass." I laughed quietly and nuzzled my face in the crook of his neck. "Aria?" "Hmm?" "I love you." I stopped breathing for a second before looking up at Dylan to see him looking down at me with a small smile. "I know it's only a short amount of time but I'm not going to keep saying 'I really care about you' until other people think that it's the right time to say it. So, I don't care if you think that but--" "I love you too," I responded and pressed my lips against his gently. He relaxed and a grin soon appeared on his face. "You better or I would have beaten your ass." I smiled, closing my eyes as I fell asleep. ----- "She's asleep. I'll call you later, okay? Alright. Bye, Ron." Dylan buried his face in the crook of my neck and groaned quietly, kissing the back of my neck with feathery kisses. "I know you're awake, love. Get up." I huffed and buried my face in the pillow. My body was acting for no reason and all I wanted to do was sleep it off. "Leave me alone, coconut head." Dylan chuckled and nipped my shoulder gently, making me squeal and sit up. I turned my head to face him and he pressed his lips against mine gently before pulling away and stretched. My eyes went to a design on his arm. It was giant purple and black flames that went along his arm and stopped just above his left peck. "What is that?" I asked and grabbed Dylan's arm. "Did you go to a tattoo parlour overnight or something?" "I could say the same for you," Dylan muttered and grabbed my thigh, where black and yellow flames were travelling down the side of my leg. "When did this happen?" "Do you think it has something to do with the transformation?" I asked him, admiring the detailed art. "Possibly. Come on, we can talk about it over breakfast." I nodded and followed him out of the bedroom, descending the stairs. Brianna, Trey, and Owen were sitting at the table while eating freshly made cookies. When they heard our footsteps, they all looked up. "Dylan told us," Trey said. "What do you mean you two may be shadow hounds?" He looked at my leg and then Dylan's arm. "When did that happen?" I looked up at Dylan, narrowing my eyes at him. I looked back at my best friend and sighed. I told them everything. Everything as in every little detail... just not about the s*x part. When I finished, their eyes were wider than saucers. I bit my lip and took a cookie, biting into it. "What are we going to do when the transformation begins?" Brianna asked. "And what about those four months when you're trying to control the hound? What then?" Dylan sighed and rubbed my back while answering, "We're going to need the basement set up for each one of us. Also, we have to find something that will keep the... s****l need... at bay." "Not that you would mind," Owen muttered and he and Trey sniggered. "Shut up," Brianna snapped. "They need our support and help." Trey groaned and looked at the two of us. "Do shadow hounds have a weakness?" "Not that I've read," I answered. "But I do know that one of their weaknesses is salt. I don't know why but that's one." Owen wrote it down on a piece of paper he just so happened to have and Brianna began skimming through the notes I wrote so far. "It says here that for the controller of the shadow hound to control it faster, which is you, they have to be in a pitch black room all alone. If you do that, it only takes two to three months." I bit into the cookie again. "Thank you guys so much," I said with a small smile. "You have no idea how much it means to me that you're going to be helping us through this entire thing." Trey wrapped an arm around my shoulder and sighed, "I never said I was going to help." I slapped Trey's arm and he grinned. "I'm kidding. I don't want my best friend to go through pain by herself." He kissed the top of my head and I smiled, stepping away to grab another cookie. "So," Owen began again. "I know that we're not going to get any information out of just talking so..." he stood up and began walking down a hall. "I'll be in the library." Brianna and Trey quickly followed after, waving as they disappeared. "They're the best," I said and slapped Dylan's hand away from my butt. "Stop." He grunted and grabbed a cookie instead. Slowly, I walked around him and wrapped my arms around him from behind him. Thrust! Dylan moved forwards ever so slightly and turned around so he was looking at me. His golden eyes were swimming with laughter and a smirk was on his pink lips. "You need something?" He asked and leaned against the table. I grinned and nodded, my arms going around his neck. Dylan's eyes darkened and he licked his lips. "Yeah," I answered innocently. Dylan tensed up when my hand went down his bare chest and I kissed his collarbone, lightly biting it. "Can you pass me a cookie?" I pushed myself away from Dylan and laughed to myself, grabbing a cookie and munching on it. "You're such a tease," he growled and pushed me against the table. My eyes went wide and I watched as his face got nearer and nearer to my own. He pressed his body against mine and the cookie that was hanging out of my mouth fell. "You have to fix your issue down there," I said awkwardly and looked away from him. Dylan smirked. "You can do that for me." My cheeks began to burn and I put my hands on his chest to push him away. He didn't move. "Go away," I whined. "I want to watch a show." Dylan shook his head and planted his hands on my hips, kissing in front of my ear. His lips slowly trailed down my neck, kissing and sucking. I moaned softly when he lightly bit the area in my neck where he's supposed to mark me. "Does this feel good?" He asked huskily against my skin. I nodded slowly. "Would you like me to keep going?" I nodded again. He chuckled and kissed my cheek before walking away and grabbing the plate of cookies. "I want to cuddle," he said and walked upstairs. Fucking tease. When we were in his bedroom, he locked the door and sat down, turning the television on. I frowned and walked to the couch, sitting next to Dylan. He pulled me to his side by wrapping an arm around my waist. I rest my head on his shoulder and sighed calmly.
