Abandoned Me at Last

Chapter 14

"When will you get a divorce with Aria? I can't wait to marry you."

Aria sat on Arthur's thigh with her arms around his neck. They looked very intimate and affectionate.

Arthur touched Aria's nose dotingly. "I'll deal with the divorce with Aria tomorrow. I'll marry you then."

Aria thought for a while and asked, "Will you take care of her baby?"

Arthur frowned. The child in Aria's belly was indeed complicated for him. "She was the one who wanted the child, so it will have nothing to do with me. It won't affect our marriage."

"I believe in you. Arthur, I love you."

Aria confessed her love and kissed Arthur's thin lips. They began to kiss each other.

Emma had mixed-up emotions. She bit her lips when she stared at Arthur's handsome face. She realized they no longer had any affection for each other.

She gave up looking for Arthur's fault. There was bound to be someone who would get hurt in the relationship.

Emma left the hospital in despair. If this was the last time she saw Arthur, it was time for her to give up as they would get married right after the divorce.

Lucas returned from buying some mooncakes. When he opened the door, he immediately panicked when he didn't see Emma. He dropped the mooncakes in his hand and ran out to ask the nurse about Emma. The nurse didn't know of Emma's whereabouts. Lucas thought carefully and guessed that Emma might have sent him away so that she could leave the hospital without his knowing.

Lucas's face was full of anger. He gave up on Emma so that Arthur could take care of her. After five years, he could only get such a result.

Burning with anger, he rushed to look for Arthur. Arthur was holding Aria's hand, ready to go through the discharge formalities when the unknowing danger arrived.

Upon seeing Arthur holding his new lover, Lucas lost his mind and shouted, "Arthur Blackwood!"

Arthur turned around and was greeted with a punch right on the face. Arthur tasted the blood in his mouth. He raised his head and glared at Lucas. "You're crazy!"

"Am I crazy? I think you're the one who is crazy. Emma loved you for 13 years and she almost lost her life for you. But what did you do to her? You were fooling around with other women when she was pregnant!" Lucas was furious as he had been in love with Emma for so many years. He couldn't accept that Arthur didn't care for her at all.

Arthur didn't like Lucas because of Emma. He wiped off the blood from his mouth and said sarcastically, "You should know she still chose me. She didn't even bother looking your way. Lucas, I can understand that you want to vent out your anger on me because she didn't choose you. However, please don't say that she has done a lot for me. She is so cruel that she doesn't deserve love."

"Arthur!"

Lucas shouted angrily and punched Arthur again. Arthur took a few steps back and retaliated. The two men then began to tussle with each other.

"You don't deserve to mention Emma at all, you ungrateful b*stard!" Lucas grabbed Arthur's collar. He finally lost his temper after suppressing his anger for so many years.

"What about you? You've been her backup for so many years. How does it feel?" Arthur said sarcastically.

Lucas's face was red with anger upon hearing Arthur's words. "So, why didn't you cherish her? She has always loved you, but what did you do? You let her down instead."

Arthur couldn't understand Lucas's despair, nor did he understand the reason Lucas liked Emma. Arthur wondered the reason Lucas told him all these when it would be better for Lucas to pursue Emma behind his back.

"Emma almost died at that time. Do you know that?"

After saying this, Lucas's eyes turned red. This was an excruciating pain for him. What else could he comment when Emma was ready to sacrifice herself for Arthur?

Arthur was indifferent as he didn't take Lucas's words seriously at all. "Let go of me. It's none of my business whether she is alive or dead."

"Where can she go if she leaves the hospital? She has no one to rely on but you. But what did you do? You cruelly pushed her away. Her life has been ruined in your hands and you can still say such cruel words!"

Lucas was still angry, but he was even sadder as Arthur was unaware of what Emma had done for him. "Isn't she in the hospital? What happened?" Arthur didn't understand.

"Don't you know? She almost miscarried. She has been resting in the hospital these days. She had just driven me away and left the hospital. She may do something stupid!" Lucas said desperately.

Arthur was a little stunned. He pursed his lips as he did not know what to say.

After knowing Emma for so long, Arthur couldn't treat her as a stranger. Even though she had done so many cruel things to Aria, he still couldn't hate Emma. This feeling probably was the reason that he panicked upon hearing that Emma left.

Lucas finally let go of him and he said in a dispirited voice, "Arthur, you don't deserve being well treated by Emma at all."
