CHAPTER NINE The shock ran through Carly’s body like electricity. She saw that her hand was now touching a coffin made from dark varnished wood with shiny brass bars along its sides. The bed, the bedroom itself, had been replaced by a vision. But as she stood there, she didn’t hear any sort of message. She didn’t even feel the presence of a spirit. She wondered briefly what to do next. Unlike other visitations from the dead, this time it seemed to be up to her to start the conversation. Finally she closed her fist and knocked softly on the coffin lid. “Who are you?” a faint voice murmured from inside.
