" This wedding was lit, I'm sure the whole country will talk about it for at least the next few years," Olive said as she paved the way for Jamima to open the door. "Hazel is sure one lucky girl, God when?" Maria said, raising her hand to the sky in a questioning manner while the other two laughed at her gesture. Jamima opens the door and the three walk into a messed-up sitting room. "What tha.." Olive exclaims annoyingly. "Davis is home, don't worry girls, I'll fix this in a jiffy", Jamima said, dropping her bag and picking up the bottle that littered the floor while Maria moved to pick up the box of cigarettes on the table. "Bryan smokes?!" Olive asks in bewilderment. "Yeah" Jamima said, dropping the bottles she had gathered in the trash can nearby. " Since when, I didn't know Davis as someone who takes a lot of alcohol and talks more about smoking " Maria asks, confusion written all over her face. "People change, I guess" Olive said, sitting down nonchalantly. " This type of change rarely comes by and when it does, it's always for a reason", Maria said. " Yeah, that's true. " I might not know what caused the sudden change in my brother, but it was after the death of our parents and younger brother", Jamima said, sitting down as if in self-pity. "Where is he now?" Maria asks, as if suddenly coming to a decision. "If he's not out, then he must be in his room" " I'll be right back", Maria said, heading for the stairs. "No Maria, I believe he's drunk now, and he can be dangerous when he is drunk." " Well someone has to pull him out if this mess", Maria said, running up the stairs and walking along the hallway that led to Davis' room. More than once, Maria thought back about what Jamima had said about him being dangerous when drunk. She had thought of turning back, but she somehow found herself moving forward until she got to his door. Knocking on the door several times and getting no response, Maria had wanted to turn back, thinking maybe it was nature telling her to go back, but then a thought struck her mind. 'Is he about to commit suicide out of frustration?' with this thought running through her mind, Maria rushed into the room which wasn't even locked. "When you knock and get no response, it means you are not invited to the party" Davis, thinking it was Jamima, said, not bothering to stand up from bed. "If this is what you call a party, then I don't want to be invited either." Davis' room was in a mess looking like a playground for drunkards. Hearing her voice, Davis sprang out of bed and asked in awe. " Maria, what are you doing here?" Davis asks, jolting up from bed. "Oh, me? " I'm here to take you out of your misery", Maria said, starting to pick up the dirt on the floor and tossing them into the trash can in the room. "You should leave", Davis said, a lot more quietly than Maria had imagined. "I came here for something and i ain't going to leave until I get what i want," Maria said, moving to close the door but Davis was done being quiet as he loudly yanked the door wide open while asking her to get out. "Okay, you need to calm down" Maria, who had been scared, tried to calm him down. "What was that?" What was that? Jamima runs out of the kitchen wiping ger hands with a kitchen towel. "I guess it's Davis and Maria" Olive says from the couch almost nonchalantly. "I know Maria shouldn't have gone to his room. " I will go get her", Jamima said, heading to the stairs. "No! Wait" Olive said in a half scream. "For?" Jamima asked, wondering if she wanted to accompany her. "Davis likes Maria, right?" "Yh, crush thingy" Jamima said, getting at what she meant and quietly headed back to the kitchen. Back in the room, Maria had actually gotten Davis to talk about how he felt, but she was having a hard time listening to him with the surrounding stench. "How about you freshen up while I clean the place up, and we can talk more over a meal?" "Something like a date?" 'I believe it's the drunk you talking' Maria thought, but just smiled.
