Chapter Four

1987 Words
Snoopy II During my vacant class, I was walking around the campus out of boredom when I saw a guy scratching his head as he paced back and forth, just across the same building Aiden goes to every morning. I stopped walking, intrigues by the bold appearance of the guy. Gray hair, his ears were pierced but no earrings – okay. A bit weird, but okay. He got my attention. He looks fun. A smile crept out of my face as I walked closer to my new target. He looks like he could peak my interest for three days. And he definitely looked more attractive up close. I bet this cutie would look even better when he smiles. He didn’t look too comfortable right now though. He looked more problematic and troubled which didn’t go well with his physique. This type of expression could mean a lot – an approaching breakup, family problems, school problems. I walked up to his back and he was so bothered that he couldn’t even notice my presence. Offensive, but I’ll pretend he didn’t just ignore me. “You’re going to rip your hair off if you keep pulling them like that.” He stopped pacing and turned to me, only to make me realize that he looked way way more gorgeous when his eyes are on me. What beautiful eyes. I could have fun with him for a week tops. Scratch three days. I can definitely see myself dating him for a week. “Your hair looks great, it’d be a waste.” I crossed my arms, mouthing his hair. He stepped a little back. I must have creeped him out. He’s cautious. I should take it slow. He must be delicate. But the way he looked – he could be a bad boy that appeals to my taste. Why the Snoopy printed shirt though? A baby inside this bad boy image, sounds pretty much like it. Cute. The urge to bite my lips was overpowering my goals. I need to calm down. “Sorry, do I—” “Achelois Bartel. Lois, but you can call me anytime when you feel the need to talk instead of pulling your hair. How about that?” I reached my hand out for him with a wide smirk, and he just stared at me so I gladly returned the gesture. It was a little awkward but I honestly didn’t mind staring at his beautiful, bright brown eyes. His nose is really pointed. It’s rare to be blessed with this kind of look and he just seemed to be everything every person would try to find. “I was sitting nearby and I saw you. I was worried you’d ruin your hair, and you’re going to regret it for the rest of your life, and I’d regret if I didn’t make you stop.” “Sorry,” His brows creased as he looked down. He was tall. I’d say probably around a six but a ten for looks – absolutely stunning, gorgeous man, this one. “It’s okay. We don’t always get better days.” I shrugged, trying to make him feel more comfortable seeming as though he wasn’t too loose with me since I pulled up to shoot my shot. There was no way I was going to let him slip right through my palms. His face softened as he nodded to my statement. “It’s just that—” “You know you should tell me now that you just said that right?” I raised a brow at him, cutting him off before he continues, and he looked up to me with a hesitant expression. “Someone said it’s better to share your problems with strangers.” I saw him smile a little. “My girlfriend she—” “You know what?” I cut him off before he could finish his sentence, raising my hand up in the air to stop him. He looked disappointed that he wasn’t able to say it, confused even, but I wasn’t going to miss this opportunity to have him eat with me in the same table. “I know a good barbeque place nearby.” I flashed him a warm, inviting smile. I already felt bad for him just by hearing those first three words he said. It’s a breakup. God, this cutie needs to be happy in my arms for a while before I break his heart again. “This sounds good with chicken and beer,” I smirked and he looked worried so I said, “You don’t have to drink. This is just me.” Sometimes you just gotta sound alcoholic even if you’re not just to enjoy a talk. “What do you say?” “O-Okay then.” Nice. I can tell right off the bad he wasn’t the type of person who would say no, which makes me wonder if it’s a good idea to make him a challenge. I led the way to the barbeque place I told him about – which is, by the way, the place I always use to get these guys. It never fails, I tell you that. It’s just across the university entrance too. It’s not like Id’ walk or use gas for these men. “Two servings please and a bottle of beer, thank you!” I ordered out loud as we sat on a vacant table. I fixed myself, staring at the guy who has been quiet the moment we walked in. “I never got your name. People normally introduce themselves after the other does so,” “Jett.” He looked up to me with his sad, miserable eyes. I could see a glint of water on his waterline too. Maybe he even cried. “My name’s Jett Sanders.” Jett Sanders. I didn’t really know what I expected. It’s not like he was going to have a Jasper or a Jackson name. It was rather unique, to say the least. I’m for sure forgetting his name tomorrow. “Okay Jett.” I rested my chin over the back of my palms, and focused my attention on him. He needed this attention right now more than anything else since his girlfriend failed to give him that. He’d like it when someone paid attention to him like this so I’m doing it. “Why in the world were you pulling all that precious hair out of your scalp.” “My girlfriend.” Here goes nothing. I should probably prepare my comforting speech after. “She broke up with me.” I sighed. Thank you, ex-girlfriend. I can date this cutie for a week without being a third party. “And now why would that person do that to this gorgeous man?” He blushed a little as he looked away at the compliment I just made. “I-I guess I just wasn’t good enough for her…” He’s so soft, oh god. I might regret playing with him. Maybe I shouldn’t and I should stop now before it’s too late. “I did everything for her. I betrayed my parents for her. I left my hometown for her. I gave her everything she wanted and now that I needed her the most, she can’t even be there for me and she tells me I’m being ridiculous.” I let out a wheeze. I was right. He wasn’t a priority. I don’t play with guys who know their worth. They’re way more attractive than to be played. I have my limits too. “For one, you are ridiculous.” Jett frantically turned to me more disappointed than when he was telling me his story. His eyes were needy, and I’m going to give it to him right now. Any girl would fall for this dude. Sucks that he had to cross paths with me. He’s pretty boyfriend-material, I give him that. “How can you give her everything? That’s just a little too much don’t you think?” He looked like he got my point. “I get it that you love her and you’ll do everything for her, give her everything but,” I shook my head. “You’re ridiculous for letting her use you like that.” “I’m letting her—?” I leaned back against the chair. “At this point, I won’t even be surprised if she was just using you to get the things she wanted otherwise, you’re useless to her if you can’t do that for her.” I paused, making sure every word I was spatting gave an impact. “A relationship should be give and take and you, my friend.” I pointed at him with the beer bottle in my hand. “You’re just giving and giving. You forgot you also deserve to take some.” Jett looked down. He knows I’m right. I know I’m right. What’s there to doubt, right? He just needs to accept that fact now that I’ve told him straight to his face. I don’t even feel bad for saying it. He needed to hear it so he’d stop being a fool. Then again, he’s going to be another fool if he falls for me. It’s about time I decide what I actually do with him. “But the thing is, she’s the foolish one,” He lifted his gaze back up to me, hopeful somehow. “She’s basically throwing someone who can give her the moon, the entire universe – someone who is willing to take a bullet for her.” I tried to sound as comforting and as romantic as I can. Though I might have meant a few notes there. Softies and broken boys like him, I don’t mess with. That is my decision. “That’s not something you find while walking around the street but if you get lucky then...” His face lit up. “Imagine holding a diamond only to throw it back in the ocean.” He doesn’t reply but kept his stare on me intently. This is what he needs – what he needs to hear right now. And I wasn’t going to stop just because I, now, decided I wouldn’t be playing with his already broken heart. “You should be relieved that you got released from a garbage like her though.” He looked a lot more comfortable with me now and I’m glad. I needed to work my way to this pretty boy’s heart in the friendliest, subtle way. “You sound like you know a lot about relationships.” I chuckled, nodding in agreement. “Trust me. I was broken enough to become what I am right now.” I wasn’t, at all, broken. I do the breaking. I rarely ever clean up. Jett, for the first time, showed me a smile. That’s it. I only need one smile from a guy to know if I stand a chance. If they enjoy your company by cracking them into a smile, you successfully have them by the neck. “I’m sure any guy would regret to throw you away too.” I nailed this. But no. Back off, Lois. He’s broken enough already. “Thank you, Lois.” He said under his breath, barely audible. “I would’ve killed myself by now if I didn’t bother you with pulling my hair.” “To broken hearts,” I lifted my shot up and he does the same before we clinked our drinks. “To broken hearts.” “And to new friendship?” I smiled at him. Maybe we can be friends, Jett, if I can’t date you romantically and shatter you into pieces all over again. But if you fall for me and for my kindness, that won’t be my responsibility anymore. He nodded and smiled back. Such beautiful smile. “To new friendship.”
