Kieran's POV.
“Impossible”, I said to myself. 'I have no mate’.
The universe definitely laughed at my statement, the sudden increase in the rain's intensity proved it. For some reason, I couldn't take eyes off hers.
I noticed as she watched me obviously feeling the same way I felt.
I took in every single detail of her, her sharp peirceing green eyes, her Auburn hair which lay lazily on her chest drenched from the ongoing out pour.
I watched in amazement as she tried to cover herself with her hands. Her efforts were completely useless, her limbs couldn't cover anything, at least not from me. Her flushed face couldn't be hidden as well.
Was it why the beldam asked me to catch her? Cause she knew we were mates, I couldn't accept that.
For now, I would take her back to my kingdom and imprison her, after all she was one of them. The people I swore I would protect my kindgdom from.
Within a flash, I killed all the guards, affording to let them live would be a dealy suicide mission.
I turned towards her direction as began to move slowly, I watched as she retreated backwards slowly visibly out of fear. Exactly how it should be, the rouge king is standing in front of her, she ought to be scared.
For some reason, as I drew closer to her, I didn't feel like hurting her. I wanted to hug and pacify her.
No!
‘I better do something about this, I shouldn't be having thoughts like this, this mysterious wolf is making me weak’
Sighting her fist at the corner of my eyes, I raised my hands to block her punch with my palms. That couldn't even hurt a fly.
'You call that a punch?’, I asked her. She was obviously very weak, so why bother fighting back.
Within a twinkle of an eye, she escaped my hands and attempted to run. Now, that made me really mad.
It took little or no effort for me to catch her.
'Let me go, you filthy rouge’, she cried in a tiny voice.
How dare she? People like her, are the reason I am a rouge. What right had she to call me filthy? Seeing how she was been chased by guards, she might be a prisoner.
I grab her neck in an attempt to break it. ‘It will it take me a little effort to break your neck, you better get watch your mouth’, I whispered to her. I was a dangerous person and could do anything when provoked.
I let go of her neck, hoping she got the message. Immediately she fell to the ground gasping for air.
‘What had I done?’ ‘I almost killed her’
With concern, I bent down and held her shoulders asking if she was okay. I didn't mean to hurt her, my anger go the best of me.
She definitely didn't need my concern, as she brushed my hands off.
Her attitude kept pissing me off, couldn't she see the efforts I was trying to make?
I needed to confirm is she was really my mate, I couldn't let this emotions keep toying with me.
I pull her closely towards me holding her hands in place by her side so she couldn't break free.
I could hear my heart beating despite the heavy rain, or both our hearts?
She kept wriggling in an attempt to break free. 'Stay still’, I ordered. She wasn't the only who was uncomfortable in that position.
She couldn't keep her head in place, deliberately avoiding eye contact. I raise my hands to her chin, keeping her head still.
Looking into her eyes confirmed my fears, she is my mate. This is ruining everything and I won't accept it, I couldn't. So many families were depending on me, my promises are their only hope. I couldn't destroy everything just because of this mating feeling, no way.
I watched, as she raised her fingers towards my cheek. ‘What was she trying to do?’
Breaking free immediately, I turn around yelled 'Impossible! I can't be a weakling. I don't have a mate!’
It was as if nature was mocking me, the screeches of the birds were so loud, even almost overcoming the rain. The rain itself ,showed me no mercy, it poured out fierociously on me.
What was I too do? I can't kill her and I definitely can't let her go. But, her existence itself is a threat to my destiny.
The tiny hairs rising sharply on my skin indicated only one thing; my men were coming. I could feel them drawing in on us as I contemplated my next step. Panicking, I turned around and hit a vital spot on her neck sending her into an unconscious state. I caught her quickly as she feel and wrapped her in my robe.
Facing them, I could see the surprise and confusion on their faces. They must all be wondering who I had in my arms.
'Who is that?’
Of course it could only be Damon, being my right hand, he had some audacity.
'A prisoner’, I replied him almost immediately.
One didn't need a priest to read the expression on his face. He didn't believe me. I can understand him, you don't carry a prisoner in your arms and wrap them in your clothes.
‘She is unconscious and can't work’, I told him in an attempt to defend myself.
'she?”, Damon asked interrupting me. He is getting more audacious day by day. Something I would have too deal with as soon as possible.
'The prisoner is a girl?’, he kept pestering.
‘Yes Damon’, I shouted at him, hoping that will keep him quiet.
She was being chased by wolves of the Crescent Moon Park, and they were guards. A normal wolf wouldn't be chased by guards, she is definitely an outcast of the park.
Doman didn't respond at all, he just stared, wide eyes, at me.
‘I am taking her back with me’, I announced full of authority.
Damon didn't protest, he slightly bent his head agreeing with me and according respect.
I felt every ounce of pride in me, as much as I hated the pack system, I still believe one should be given respect and I Kieran have earned that respect.
Damon stepped in front of me stretching his hands to collect her. I dismissed his offer immediately, 'I will carry her myself’
'My Lord, you are the alpha, you shouldn't be carrying a prisoner. And we are yet to identify whether she is a friend or foe’.
I wanted to insist but my surroundings pleaded otherwise. The rouges were all looking at me with surprise. “Why was I bent on carrying a prisoner?”
In order to clear whatever suspicions they have, I handed her over to Damon, who received her in outstretched hands.
As I watched him adjust her body in his arms, blood flowed instantly into my veins. ‘Oh, how much I want to jump on him. So, this is what jealousy feels like, I had to control myself for the sake of Damon and the other wolves.
'I will station some wolves here to scan the vicinity’, Damon said drawing me away from my subconscious.
‘Any trespasser will be dealth with’.
He immediately signaled five wolves, who nodded their heads and took position. With them here, I was sure no one could enter even though it was very far from the main village.
‘Tend to her and also keep her under lock and key’, I heard Damon say to the maids as we entered the palace.
The maids, knowing he is the second in command, hurriedly executed his orders without questioning.
I left them alone, I had a lot on my mind and needed to retire to my chambers. From the death and statement of the maldem, too the strange wolf, I needed to rest.
I admired the beautiful map above my bed, it showed the entire wolf packs. The one we had colonized shaded with green, I counted them as if I didn't know them by heart. The rouge kingdom has successfully colonized thirteen packs. We were expanding on boundaries, soon the world will know and respect us. The uncoloured portion lay right in the middle as if too undermine our victory. The Crescent Moon Park, they have proven to be undefeatable, even imprisoning some of the rouges.
“All that is about too change, and is all because of the wolf I captured. She will cause us to have victory over the Crescent Moon Park”.
“And, how sure are you about that?”, Damon questioned. “She could be a spy”
I turn around to look at him, surprised at his assumptions.
